Off Grid Cabin Project....Cutting logs, Pulling Stumps and my new log arch!

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

today we'll be cutting up logs that we'll later saw up for boards. I just got a new log arch and we'll try it out. I also found a big surprise when I cut into one particular log..........

Probably the best Ryan's Shed Plans on building a shed is hardly found ever . kzread.infoUgkxcLVQopTIucrxiVRQA0khLGQEnDVKCSMG And Ryan's takes the mystery out of different types of foundation options, etc. He even shows how to build shed with different designs. Very comprehensive, covering different roofing materials, siding, etc.

This might be a bit of topic... But, can I just applaud your style of story telling for a sec?... See, as a kid I used to love hanging out with my grandfather, you could always find us up to some shenanigans out in the woods a 2 minute walk from my grandparents' house or out in the garage building something... most of my family say that I get my "mcguyver" style of life from him (our motto was always "if you don't have or can't afford it, just build/make it"), and I am darned proud of that! But he was also a really good story teller, he kind of had a way of making you feel like you were more than just a sideline spectator to the story, and sneaking in lessons and learning moments in such a way that us kids didn't even realize school was in session... He passed away 10 years ago, and I still miss him everyday (I ask myself "w.w.g.p.d?" pretty much every time I come across a problem or situation that needs a fix that I can't seem to think of) Watching your vids is a big throw back to those "good old days" for me, so thank you!

My dad and his brothers used to cut firewood in the wintertime. I think they used a buzz saw that was powered off a belt attached to the output shaft belt pulley on the tractor. That was probably back in the 1940's. My grandfather made the comment that on one snowy day he had to go but he was out in the field. His impromptu tp was a snowball. He said it was cold but it did a great job at getting him clean

We have a tool like that in the ironworker industry it's called a grasshopper. Instead of having to crank at the end and a hitch it has a handle but it has changed throughout the whole shaft. It can't pick up from a 200 lb beam up to 10,000 lb beam from 8 ft long to 30 ft long. It's a great piece of equipment to have on a job site when you're moving iron around

A log arch is such a useful device. I was using my own, new arch to shift some larch tree butts out to my sawmill. It would have been impossible without the arch. One tip: the sling chain on mine came with a thin metal rod at one end (a bit like a knitting needle, but stronger) it can be pushed underneath a log that is on the ground and retrieved at the other side to make the loop around the log. Saves having to lift the log up and maybe straining your back. Yes, summer is too hot for this work...time to chill and enjoy your land.
