Rambling Rachel Trail Tales
Rambling Rachel Trail Tales
Hello! My name is Rachel and I'm from Northamptonshire. I love the outdoors and spending time with nature. This gives me a great sense of being, peace and joy. I love rambling in the countryside, mostly in my home county however I do from time to time venture further afield. I particularly like walking in the Chilterns, Peak District and the Lake District.
Rambling is more than a hobby or a form of exercise, it's a way of life. Rambling helps me build resilience and deepens my connection with 'everything'. It's how I find myself and purpose in the world.
Walking in the outdoors has significantly improved my mental wellbeing and would encourage others to do the same, especially in your local area. You might be surprised what hidden natural treasures you might find along the way. I hope my journey will encourage others to pursue their own path outdoors.

Are you camping on IOW? Or have you become normal? 😅😅
Ha! Not camping this time. My partner doesn’t do camping, in the comfort of a static caravan. Have a great week x
Hi Rachel thanks for the video. Just wondering if you're still using your Lanshan now 2 years on from the video, and if so how well is it holding up? Cheers
Hi Rory, I made the mistake of selling and regret it now. I now have a couple of single pole trekking tents, which are very good. But the Lanshan 2 was so light and incredibly spacious in comparison. It’s a cracking tent for the money.
Always love the Lake District, and Catbells is one of our favourite hikes in the world! Micro adventures rule!
Hi ya, Catbells is so much fun. 🤩
🐝thanks for the great video🌻
Thanks for watching 👀
Hi Rachel & Debbie Aaww we love the mini mountain that is catbells it’s a really great hike and the views are fab in all weathers! As always loving your energy! Those are some dramatic skies, lovely bit of clag 😂 we love b roll we call it bacon butties 🤷🏻♀️🤣 wow it was a tad breezy up there. Ooo bubbles 🫧 great one to do for a first wainwright 👍
Debbie did so well in the Lakes. We managed Scapike Pike the following day but didn't vlog it. I wish I lived nearer to the Lakes. Thanks for watching and have a great week. x
Me and my boys just did the stepping stones, dovedale holes, lions head and reynards cave..was great, amazing site, so peaceful. My boys loved it loads
This route I'd do again, it's a cracker! Thanks for watching. x
It's always a cool hike in the clag. I've never been but definitely on the list. Thanks for sharing Rachel.
Hi Chris, thanks for commenting. I hope you are keeping well. x
A cracking little fell...a big fave with me.
I do like Catbells, my second time up there. x
Looks a nice one Rachel, still to do thar one but looks like a nice easy one 👍
It's a fun little fell. Thanks Dan. x
A great adventure for you both. Hope to see more in the future 😊 x
Thanks Dave. Have a good week x
amazing hiking adventure friend, enjoy and be safe always
Thanks, you too! x
Great hike Rachel 👍
Thanks for stopping by and watching. Have a good week. x
Yes it did look a bit windy 😃
The summit was incredible but apart from that it was a lovely short hike.
Obviously Catbells was named for the little bell you put on your cat's collar so you can find them hiding in the laundry basket.
Ha! Good! Thanks for watching.
Yay the Lake District 😃 I only went up Cat Bells once as I recall, which would have been a very long time ago. What a lovely walk you had there Rachel. Hope Debbie enjoyed her first Wainwright 👍
It's a lovely hike, easily doable in a half day. Thanks. x
Love Catbells, glad you got a view before the clag rolled in! 😊
Yes, the views wasn't too bad at all. Thanks for watching Steph. x
You actually too the hard route - the way you went down is the one I always recommend to people to go up and down if they want an easy way up without any scrambling. You both made light work of it mind and it sounded dam windy on the summit, which was shame, as was the rain and clag coming it but good to see none of that stopped you, cheers Alan
I have definitely been puffing and panting and needed to rest! It may be a small fell, but it packs a punch. Thanks Alan.
Nice on Rachel. Does Debbie know there are 213 more to do?
We did Scafell Pike the following day but didn't vlog that due to various reasons. So that makes about 212 left for her! I've already done a few up there.
Nice one Rachel. Looked a really nice hike. Hadn't heard the word 'Clag' for many years since moving to Wales. Made me smile. 👍👍
Hi Jeremy, I love the word clag, can't remember where I picked it up from lol! Thanks for watching.
Beautiful place
Thanks for visiting
Loved this series, this one has definitely gone on my list. Thanks ladies 🙌🏻🫶🏻
This was an amazing experience. Yorkshire is amazing!
Great little vid 😊 Enjoyed hearing your thoughts at the end, lovely sentiment. Much love 🙂🫶🏻
Thank you so much!
Oh wow, all saints church is where John Butler goes. If you've never heard of him, just type him into youtube, he's amazing. Full of wisdom, teachings and insight, I think he now has over 100k subscribers too 😀. Anyone struggling with their mental health will take a lot of comfort from him 🙂 Awesome video, I really enjoyed this series and look forward to binging through a load more 🙌🏻🫶🏻
Another good'n 🙏🏼 The first time I saw an honesty box, shortly after I first started hiking, I couldn't believe it. I'm from Central London and it was a totally alien concept to me 😆😆 I had to wait for someone else to walk past so i could ask them if I had understood the "make a donation" part correctly, I felt like i was stealing something 😂😂. Absolutely love it whenever i see them now, 🫶🏻
Yes, honesty boxes are great. Not seen many in the Peaks but they are nice to stumble across. This was a good'en. Thanks for watching.
Great little video. New sub here 👋🏻 😊🫶🏻
Thanks for subbing!
That's a superb hike Rachel and Steph. Its one of my favourite places to hike.
The Chilterns are fantastic 🥰
Hello Northamptonshire 🙂
Hi 👋
Lovely scenery x
Indeed it is. I could see Charwelton tower in the distance.
Nice. Hope you weren't saddle sore.😊 👍👍
Haha no not too bad thanks. I’m not a serious cyclist but I do enjoy getting out on two wheels.
Funny name but still a real nice walk and in good weather too, a rarity this year for sure! I hope those cows were behind a fence and I love a cheese and onion sarnie! Funny after all that rain and then a bit of sun how all the vegetation had all of a sudden gone wild but loved the buttercups. No wonder you were tired, especially with the additional 2 miles and a cheeky pink and meal at the Carpenters Arms would not have helped either lol, cheers Alan
The cows were well behaved. More interested in eating grass, than us ramblers. The pub was a welcomed break. We wouldn’t normally stay in a pub for that long during a walk but with the longer days, we treated ourselves x
Lovely morning!! And great tune 👌
Glad you like it! 🤩
🫡🫡🫡😂brilliant 😀
Ha, thanks ☺️
Really enjoyed the look of this walk - one id like to do sometime!
It’s a good walk. A bit overgrown in places and a few muddy sections. Definitely one for the drier months but lovely. I’d recommend starting in Harlington. Finish with a pub stop.
Enjoyed this. Thanks for sharing.
Glad you enjoyed it, thanks ☺️
What a glorious walk. Bit worried about your measurements, that definitely wasn't a half 😂
Ha! Two halves! 😆
👍🥾🥾🤗
Thanks for watching 😀
Great chilled hike, I’m fortunate that I Live about 20 mins away from Sharpenhoe. If you enjoyed walking in that area I would recommend Pegsdon Hills and the fantastic views from Deacon Hill.
I know it well. I did a walk that way last year and spotted the infamous black squirrels! 🤨
Great vid Rach .. looked a great camp for you both 👍
Glad you enjoyed it. Thanks ☺️
Now that's the way a hike should be. Beautiful scenery, a nice leisurely pace, and wonderful pub to rest in for a meal and beverages. Great job, Ladies.
We’re never in a hurry, take time and enjoy the scenery. 🙂
That was absolutely brilliant Rachael and Stef what a lovely little adventure well filmed and edited. Yes I checked it out on the map and it’s amazing how much countryside you can find in what looks like a crowded area. ATB ❤🏕️🍻
Yes and not too far from me either. Thanks Dave. All the best 😀
Sounds like my style of Pub 🍺🍺
Ha! It would have been rude not too 😉
Thanks Rachel and Steph, great little adventure. That pub did look very welcoming and glad u had a great meal also. Look forward to the next one :) 😎
Our pleasure! Thanks ☺️
Nice video Rachel. Wishing you a fantastic upcoming week 😊
Thank you! You too! 😀
Some absolutely stunning views there Rachel. Definitely a good idea to be away from the evening activity. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks Chris. I hope you are keeping well 😊
Great little hike, camp + pub break. Is there a meaning behind the name 'Shaprenhoe Clappers'? Just curious as it's unusual. 👍👍
Yeah I believe it was a Bronze Age fort, I’m sure there’s plenty of information online about it. It’s a cracking area for a walk. ☺️
@@ramblingracheltrailtales Thanks Rachel, i will look it up. Happy hiking. 👍👍
Looked fabulous! What a lovely part of the country! 😊
The Chilterns are glorious 🥰
