The Millennium Way Route 15 | Lias & Stockton Locks | Warwickshire
Another day and another ramble along the scenic Millennium Way, this time following Route 15 starting from the Blue Lias pub just outside Stockton in Warwickshire.
Follow me along the charming canal networks through pastures of green and quaint English villages, including Stockton and Long Itchington. A fairly easy walk, ideal for beginners, but still has plenty of features of historical significance for the experienced walker to enjoy.
The route was created by the 41 Club. For full details, click on the following link. It also includes a free GPX for those who use navigation apps. The distance is 5.25 miles, circular. Flat & lowland terrain, including canal towpaths which can be muddy after rain.

See the link below if you are interested in Stockton's Red Granite boulder and pump. Sorry, it was far too busy in the centre of the village to record properly.

If you have any further questions about this route or the Millennium Way, please comment, and I'll get back to you as soon as possible.
Thank you for watching and supporting my channel. It's always appreciated.

Ah what a great walk Rachel. I love a canal walk as you know. And enjoyed the poke around the church too. The Pub looked good and is always a welcome way to send a walk. Interesting hearing about the excavation too. Great job. 👍🏻🚶🏻♂️🚶♀️

Change in the weather from your last hike but the weather has been so changeable this year. Always love to see an honesty box and there is a young girl who makes flapjack and sells it outside her house with an attached honesty box in Grasmere, I always buy some every time I go past. Those long boats are so picturesque and made such a pleasant backdrop along the tow path. Lovely old church, great to see it was open and I wonder how many baptisms that font has seen over the years. I have tried numerous mics over the years looking for the perfect sound but just gave up now what you see and hear is what you get. Nice way to finish the walk at the pub, something I always like to do myself whenever possible, cheers Alan

Hi Alan, thanks for your comments and feedback. It is helpful. Not sure how I feel about the mic, I need more practice. Yes, honesty boxes are great, I prefer the ones with chocolate or pop inside 🤩
We've just discovered your rambles on KZread. They are lovely and so interesting. Thank you for making them.

Another very pleasant route Rachel. I love a good canal walk too, especially when the skies are blue with the white fluffy clouds 🌤 Nice to see the daffodils. Glad you were able to get inside the church at Long Itchington. Hope that lady steered her narrow boat ok! 😯 Thanks for sharing and see you soon 😃👍

Hi there 👋 This was a very enjoyable walk. If your in the area, I’d recommend it. Thanks and have a wonderful weekend. All the best 😀
Nah then, ay up me duck. How dare you not know that old trolley was actually called a catafalque? *Lol. Lovely ramble with some really interesting facts given. I particularly loved the fond memory you shared of your Grandad and the rope swing. A feel good video well shot and narrated but with a wonderfully natural feel to it, perfect. Oh and Yorkshire tea, a definite YES in agreement on that one from me 👍☕🙂

Good evening 😊 I know… coffin trolly… sounded blooming awful! 🫣 Ah well learnt something new that day. 🤔 I do love a Yorkshire tea. 🫖 PG tips and Tetley’s don’t cut it! 😂
Microphone sounded great Rachel, read in the description you were not sure about it, great clarity, is it good at cancelling wind? Grab those eggs whilst you can! Oh you got an open one. We visited one on Saturday that is supposed to be always open, sadly it wasn’t. Does like quite modern, great repurposing of the coffin trolley, i probably can’t spell its correct name! 😂 lovely mix of daffodils. For plain tea id probably go PG but alas since discovering green tea we can no longer drink normal tea. Any brand of green will suffice. What a lovely day for a canal walk. Have seen cats on barges, they seem quite at home on them. Ah you’ve mentioned the mic, quality seems great Rachel. We have all knitted tops too, all easter at the moment, so enjoyable seeing them. Nice memories of Willow trees. Thanks for showing us the fossils and giving us some background! 👍

Good evening, thank you for the feedback on the mic, it is really helpful. Yea I genuinely enjoyed this walk, it had so much to offer with some really good features and points of interest. Have a fab week, and take care 😌
I never knew how many canals there were in the UK, until I started watching Watto's videos. I also never knew about the long boats! I think those are pretty cool. That was also very interesting how they found the bones of a sea creature dinosaur back in the 1800's. I would love to find a fossil. LOL. I enjoyed walking along with you today. Thanks! 😊😊

Hi Rachel. A lovely stretch of canal👍 I do love a good canal walk! 😁 The mic sounded a bit muffled at first, then whatever you did to it in Stockton made it much clearer👍 Coffin trolley does sound a bit less dignified than catafalque 👍😁 But it looked like they were using it as a stall for a coffee morning or something anyway! 😨 All the best and take care!

Hi Rachel, what's the beautiful day walking along the canal. Do you judge this church not to so old? Although here stained glass windows, a heavy wooden lid 3:34, and the vaulted high ceiling are gems to this church. Hmmm I like Mirror, Mirror the reflection on the water. 10:32 Birds chirping in your background as you look down the canal under the willow trees. Like the dinosaur story. Impressive research. Thank YOU Rachel. The weather has improved...just about ready for more hike! See ya...!

That was a lovely walk Rachel, we so love canal walks and you saw some interesting things along the way. The two churches were beautiful and I loved that postbox with the knitted hat and the story behind the dinosaur at the pub! Now regarding the tea, you wanted our opinion, have you ever tried Welsh Brew? It beats Yorkshire Tea any day 🤭. Enjoyed this beautiful walk :) ~ Anna 👍

When I was in Tenby last year, I did buy a box of Welsh Tea, which was very nice indeed. Ok, so I’ll say Yorkshire tea is the best English, that’s fair 😊 Thanks for tuning in 😌 Have a good week.

@@ramblingracheltrailtales Haha love that and yes I agree with you that Yorkshire if the best English tea 😄
You only get an Oooo with Typhoo. I think coffin trolley was very descriptive Rachel. Mic sounded muffled up until 08:29. Could still hear you but not as good. Then muffled 09:44 onwards. Personal preference is mic outside on clothing. But I still really enjoyed the vlog, thanks for sharing Rachel.
