Nice work but why that disturbing music through the talking. Disturbing and detracts from the video.
When I saw the NRG hub I was like this dude really likes red lol .. looks good tho 👍🏼
Beautiful my man. Love the red interior
Hey there, so will this work in a 2003 Impreza ts? Any major parts I may need to change? I've heard something about dealing cams and cam gears?
So if i did all this and went with bigger injectors and vf48 turbo and tune would i be ok
Absolutely! Even if you used the pink sti injectors or the dark blue 255/257 injectors youd easily be able to hit 270-280whp after a tune
Great job just am not a fan of red carpet I would have went black on it
That carpet was a nightmare to try and get it decent. It did tone down a lot after the black floor mats. It worked out nice in the end
Paint looks money
It was a rad touch with the oem red but adding metallic and pearl. Super cool
What a build!! Fantastic work 👌
Dope video. Love the content and beats. Appreciate you guys!
Awesome job man ❤
That 2L DOHC sounds exactly as it should! I've got a '98 with well over 400,000 kms on it. Throw some sway bars on the front and rear (if you haven't already), and take it down a twisty road! I think you'll enjoy this car!
wow, getting ready to do this exact swap, down to the same year and color FXT! ;) thanks for this incredible presentation of the main steps!
Thats awesome! Glad the vid will help get you and car back on the road! Come back if you have any questions as you go.
I think you got lucky on this one as SoC sadly won't bring in JDM parts due to safety concerns. For this particular part it seems it was in stock at Subaru of America as the JDM V5/V6 bumper was standard on the American 99-00 2.5RS. The USDM bumper beam is NLA so maybe they carry JDM beam instead.
Ya i though it was pretty cool getting this! Especially in stock 😳
Wouldn’t it be easier to just put the 2.5 heads on the 2.0 block and use back all the 2.5 harness and accessories just asking has it just pick up a blown up 2013 wrx.
A few reasons why a 2.0 block and 2.5 heads would be more difficult and more $ defeating to purpose of a $1k engine swap. As far as I know, 2.5 block and 2.0 heads will work but not so much the other way around. Hope that helps, we also have an 08-14 wrx how to swap vid with this same engine. Its the same process just different visuals
@@TheSubieSanctuary ok so will i have to tune it after i am in ny no cel is mandatory lol
@@johnsondominique57 for the 08-14 wrx you will need the ej20Y engine because it has the air pump. You will have no codes, it is recommended to get a tune though for sake of displacement and timing. It can be tuned with a cobb ap or done via opensource or ecutek.
@@TheSubieSanctuary ok thanks for ur quick replies
@@TheSubieSanctuary ive been looking and all the ej20 close to me says ej20x with secondary air pump what is the difference with the Ej20x and ej20y
My dude.. get some safety glasses. Safety squints can only go so far.
I'm lost, you used the jdm 2015+ sti ej20 into 2015+ usdm sti? Retaining the jdm's twin scroll and all that? That's not what's going on here, or is it? Cause that would be the awesome thing to do.
We used a jdm “ej20y” they typically are found in japanese 08-14 wrx’s they do come twinscroll, you can use the twinscroll stuff but that requires twinscroll downpipe. We used the domestic sti’s exhaust and turbo in this swap.
@@TheSubieSanctuary yea my interest would basically do the engine of the last final edition of VA JDM EJ20 with the twinscroll into the left hand car. with the twin scroll. I can imagine there's a good reason why it must be so much better but i wonder if that requires ecu, electric or any other issue with it. that would be a nice project you could do.
@@dwori the jdm va 207 with twinscroll would work in our usdm va sti without issue on our usdm ecu. Just need a tune. Those engines are typically half the price of a va sti. Still too new to be affordable, but the 207’s are unbeatable in reliability and rev range
this car is toast mate its completely gone only place to go is the junkyard
Yes but also no. Whats a floor and rockers? We’ve replaced unibody’s under these 😳
Is there a story behind the green coilovers? They seem out of place on such a beautiful car.
The are a great set “tein flex z” all teins are unfortunately green 🥲 and your right they are a bit of a clash underneath. I do have some never used custom made fortune autos (all black) but I plan on saving them for my coupe build
How can I get this carbon kit? My friend
They have not been produced for over 10 years. This may be one of a few of them left
I've watched many restoration projects and this has got to be at the top of the pile, wow. Subscribed for more of your unreal workmanship.
An original RA and he does that. Should have been white. Shit colour.
So clean. I like subarus, but I respect any clean older car.
Friend, this was not a rebuild. This was a reconstruction.
Ej20x or ej205? What engine is more capable?😊
The plastic manifold jdm ej205 is easier to tune, thus more friendly to push and more accurate timing. Id say they both do have the same limit for power though. 350whp
The amount of work you’ve put in this car is insane great job absolutely top notch.
This is my least favorite Subie, but the motor seems much simpler. Man! You guys have done just about every jdm motor swap on these cars lol that’s awesome.. and Martatum’s got different colored hair, again.. lol Keep up the great work guys!
I will agree there, after this (the first tribeca ever to come through here) and subaru’s reaction to me calling for tribeca parts 😂 they are now banned for life. The 3 rows are wicked and they dash on these is incredibly futuristic for its age.
Thanks for the build series. I really enjoy these model years and the ease of working on them.
You're the man Jesse! Another awesome swap. My '05 OBXT already has 11K miles after I swapped the ej20x, 220K miles on the chassis and it 's still going! Your helpful videos are saving/keeping a lot of these cars on the roads. We really appreciate all your hard work!
Bless brother 🙏 long live the golden era subaru’s 🙌
@@TheSubieSanctuary Indeed!
This is very similar to my first new car, a '98 highline. Same color, 2 door, 5-speed, but a SOHC engine. I'm looking for a first gen now.
What's up with that bugeye in the background? Future video?
The white one! Had her 5 years just chilling. It is on the schedule for this year, big overhaul and probably another contest car.
What's the best way to contact if you are still offering body work services these days.
We do still do this full time! Moved to a bigger place even and now 3 guys here. Issue is, with the large scale resto projects and overwhelming demand for this work. Its a pretty long wait to get in. You can email or contact on instagram [email protected] @the_subie_sanctuary on insta
Oh oh, a pull over ...... no ice cream😂
We were bummed 😂 i added in the description the issue. Swap itself was 100% success. Just had a glitchy gauge cluster that tripped me out. Added that for some comedy
Like I said before...The relashionship between a car and a mechanic is a "sado- masoquistic" one. One loves to give pain...The other, adores to receive it!! Wow. Horses were all the time better than cars: if they failed to do their job, you could always eat them! I admire you guys! Thanks. 😊
Thanks, and very true! This is my personal car in this video. Had it 15 years now and will continue to drive it forever. Its like a family member to me. Plus, the overhaul was cheaper then buying a new car
I salute you guys! Not many have the "spirit" to do an honest job. Thanks for video. My case is similar (perhaps not that bad). I am 'possessed' by a 240.000miles Forrester 2002 (although certificate states I own it!), which I love. Tell me where about are you; I'll consider going there if in Canada and not too far? I would rather take it there my self and fly back later to return for it. Any ideas as to the cost of it? For us senior peole, it might even be better to "service" their old cars than getting a new one. Please, advice...I'll be like 130 next July! Don't take too long, pls... 😊
Hey there! We are in Mono, Ontario. It’s typically a year+ wait to get in for a resto/rust repair type job unfortunately. However I do agree, its better to keep an old car going then buy a new one. They just dont make them like they used to
Where did you buy this rocker panel at ?
Subiesavers.com
Where you located I will pay you to restore my rotted out 03 wrx wagon
We in the great white north! Ontario Canada
Yeah that didn’t sound anything like rod knock.
Thank goodness 😅
Ah yes, good old ebay cold air intakes, Everyone knows the best place to suck in cold air is right above the exhaust manifold.
The ole engine air warmer 😂
Just curious because they look the same but why swap the pcv hard line? And does this need to be swapped if I’m running an aos?
The hard line of the pcv is somewhat the same but not the same if using an ej20x vs using an ej20y. The pcv crank vent is not the same on either though.
Ok yeah I swapped over the aos crank vent I’m actually doing this swap atm so I appreciate the help!
@@bergerjjj1017 my pleasure buddy! Come back if any questions!
Should make a video about turning the cams back one tooth about to try to do it with clamping the intake cams and hopefully just pop it over a tooth
Awesome. What fenders are those?
They are track life fender cut in’s. We removed the badge
Figure Id ourt
im about to do this swap cause my ej255 blew up. im literally just going to mirror this. thank you!
then fix your car ....
love living in vermont but yeah, Have had to make a lotttt of repairs due to cars sitting over winter
Ya this was anticipated, this car was pretty neglected and parked with some serious leaks
That’s a lot , need some kitty litter under there 😂
Ya, it was a customer car we picked up from storage for them. Luckily the mat was under the engine to save the guys floor. All these leaks going to keep me busy now 😂 most appears to have come for power steering line rusting
@@TheSubieSanctuary was going to say , looks like more than just the oil from the head gaskets. Have you ever had a 2.5 naturally aspirated 09 have a tick on cold startup , then goes away in 4-5 minutes.. then comes back when totally warmed up ? But no misfire or count on live data. I haven’t had the opportunity to pull the cover and inspect it yet.
@@462ANIMAL yes ive had the tick on cold start with the 06-10’s. It may be the valve adjusters, you would need to remove valve covers and adjust them to spec. They may have worn and got loud with too much clearance
Awesome, not sure what it took to put a JDM in my 2005 xs Forester Thanks for the great simplistic video.✌🏻
Crushed it. Posting clips on mine. Thanks man killer build I’m happy to start driving it.
Whats the redline? Hopefully you banging tec all over town
That panel rocks!
Even the rust has its own rust😮😅
Hello sir, i have a 07 impreza 2.5 , what jdm will fit on it ? Can i do the samething that you have done ?
For the 07 impreza you would use the same jdm ej253 as I Used in the video. Just swap your whole intake manifold and compare your coolant crossover pipe
