    Holy shit, is that 1/2 a million miles? My 2006 had 120K on it. Sadly I live in an area where all the renovation shops have a massive backlog of real classic cars to renovate and keep them afloat for years to come. I show them my Subby and they're like: "Who the hell renovates a WRX? just trade it in." Sadly that is what I was forced to do and get a new car. Sigh. Even the guy that serviced my car for years got rid of his 1990's WRX and now drives a Volvo 😑He said it'll just cost way too much to renovate the car around here. Wish you and the owners of these cars that have access to your services all the best!

    Thats kinda how it is here too. Im the only one I know of here that does subaru restorations. I have a couple year wait list to get in. You and your local shops are right though, restoring a subaru is no different then restoring a classic muscle car and actually costs the same lets say. Maybe less extensive but still its by the hour and these take a lot of hours. Really got to love your subaru to jump into having something like these jobs done. I sure do love my old subarus!

    It was definitely a great opportunity to clean the head liner. Its crazy how dirty they can get. Looks so fresh now, glad i put in the extra effort to do it.

    This is funny. I find myself watching your videos time to time just to find some motivation to keep on going with my own neglected suby. Seriously cant see the amount effort you guys go throught with these. Hats of! Love it

    Thanks buddy, means a lot. Definitely was a hard to push to finish this especially with its state in the beginning and that this one was just done during my very little spare time. Being my personal car you can imagine the heart behind completing it. She was on my hoist at home for a year 😬 was glad to be able to enjoy it for about a month before parking for our winter season.

    Me and my Wagon watched this on the couch for the 3rd time. Just wow, sir Ok serious Q, on smaller patches, did you find that it got to a point where youd rather make a certain size or larger, because it got too much of a douche to weld in? Did you end up cutting more out, just to make it easier? Have you been compiling parts or are they pretty available? All the oe packages are sweet lol

    I enjoy this vid a lot myself so happy to have my bug back! Yes, it is often easier to make a bigger patch then needed and a good idea incase there is more rust then you can from one side. They were all available next day at dealer! In stock at local warehouse 🙌

    Pulled my side skirts and found some rust forming on the bottom of the fender and where the lower bolt attached to the frame. Whats the best way to prevent this from spreading? Wire wheel it off and paint it with a rust encapsulator?

  • @TheSubieSanctuary

    @TheSubieSanctuary

    6 ай бұрын

    Ya that would be it, then after its been sprayed with a rust encapsulator, then some sort of spray paint over it and lastly some sort of oil spray like krown or rust check. Would hurt to remove fender to it more thoroughly

    question, my bugeye's rear subframe mounts are rusted, how would you go about fixing that? love the video

  • @TheSubieSanctuary

    @TheSubieSanctuary

    Ай бұрын

    Ya thats a tough one as they are the whole rail. Only way to do it without replacing whole rail would be remove rear frame. Then doing 1 side at time, fab a frame box to weld in. As for mounting the weld in appropriate nuts on inside of your fab’d rail replacement and then place rear frame but onto rails using the existing oem rail that would left on the other side of car. Once location is correct on the repaired side, then you can move to doing the other side. Definitely easier said then done, typically that kind of rust is the end of most cars.

    Hey there you inspired me too follow through with saving my bugeye. So I used Subie savers for the replacement seal, but they only have the outers. Do you have the part number for the inner portion to seal up the pinwheel?

  • @TheSubieSanctuary

    @TheSubieSanctuary

    For the inners, we have only ever made them out of sheet metal ourselves unfortunately. I believe subaru will sell a full wheel well if desired but that may be overkill for your needs. Glad to hear you are saving it!!
