    Awesome work again, you guys genuinely give me so much inspiration to keep going with mine. I’m doing my 99 SF 2.0 Turbo ‘shade tree’ style, but in reality in between rain showers and real life. It’s not nearly as bad as this one but needs the normal rockers, arches and rear turrets welding / replacing. It’s purely sentimental after 18 years ownership, but what a car! I contacted Subiesavers for prices after watching you guys have so much success with them but I’m still waiting for their local agent to even supply prices more than 5 weeks later. The website looks as though the panels will cost twice what the car is worth as salvage. It’s almost like they don’t want to sell any! If only I was local to Canada…

    Great work saving another rare XT manual in WRB. My 07 Silver automatic here in WA held up ok as we don't get snow as much and don't salt the road. We'll just shut down everything for 2" of snow. LOL.

    Love the detailed content and appreciate the skill it takes to have that outcome, keep up the awesome work. For the true enthusiasts its a tough choice at this level of rot. Im in new england stateside so salt and weather is similar. Its such a weighted decision especially on the more rare cars, with the XT sports being a more rare car than most of the mass produced other subarus. I wanted a sports xt in manual but that was a needle in a haystack to find around here. Long term I think the investment will pay off for the owner. That car new was hard to get, nevermind now or in 5 years time. I have an 05 baja thats on that edge of save/dont save right now, but I also have a roller 03 thats in better shape, time is the enemy for me.

  • @TheSubieSanctuary

    @TheSubieSanctuary

    7 ай бұрын

    No doubt brother! Id definitely put the baja up with the rare’s for sure. I see a lot of subarus, seen a total of 4 fxt sports in my life. 3 auto and this one being the 1 manual. Ive had 1 baja in the shop over the years, just mechanical. Ive went to look at few baja’s over the years. They get rust like most subarus but under the cladding they get it even worse then most subarus unfortunately. Time is a bugger, its a challenge for myself and my personal cars id like to do as well.

    Wow! This is the first video where I've seen someone tackle a car as bad as mine and actually finishes the job! Good to know I'm not totally crazy. It would have been great to see some of the work you did to recreate the inner structure behind the rockers. Did you replace all 4 layers of metal and did you fabricate it all on your own? I've been cutting parts out of junk yard cars to rebuild mine and it is not always easy to find what you need in good condition. I'm very curious to know how you rebuilt it.

  • @TheSubieSanctuary

    @TheSubieSanctuary

    7 ай бұрын

    The center structure is basically just a straight piece that get sandwiched. Its easy to replace with rocker cut off at least. Key is coating the welds inside before putting rocker back on

    At 6:09 was the subie saver dogleg not lining up? How do you resolve that? Are those rockers still structural enough to jack by?

  • @TheSubieSanctuary

    @TheSubieSanctuary

    7 ай бұрын

    I would not jack on these ones in particular. Yes correct about the panel not lining up. I ended up going with, favouring the door side. To then make the rear arch and body line come back. I hammered and dolly’d. Easier to re work rear then to fill a 1” gap along door.

    I really have been meaning to for a long time. I feel it will be a good tool for others to use as a gauge along with inquiring customers. There definitely is a tipping point, truly id say this car was just past the tipping point. However we were so far into it, I pushed through and it did turn out great in the end.
