  I’ve got a chicken question… how many roosters can a flock have. We hatched eggs back in April and now we know there’s 4-5 roosters plus our already established dad rooster. Are we in for a cage fight soon? 🤪

  1-10 is a common ratio. They may say as low as one rooster for 2-5. The lower the ratio the higher the mating pressure and I've had bald hens. Fighting for me has never been the issue, the breeds can vary.

  Reading and verbal don’t match. Funny verbal. I recently noticed that eastern phoebes open their beaks when they are hot. I suspect this must be true for most, if not all, birds.

  Do you know the signs of a hot chicken?! Do you know when to worry? 🥵🔥🥵🔥 ✅Normal signs your chickens are hot: -panting -holding wings out to the side -laziness -eating less. Drinking more (normal to cause watery droppings) -less egg laying ❌Signs of heat exhaustion: -all of the above signs plus… -combs turning pale -chickens adding lethargic -stumbling, lameness What to do for heat exhaustion: -bring them inside -cool (not cold) water soak for 5-10 min -electrolytes in water, treats with sugar/protein like grubs and watermelon -observe overnight & keep indoors until things are normal Share with a chicken friend & Follow @purelychickens for more chicken content! #chickens #hotchickens #chickenkeeper #chickentips #chickenkeepingtips #chooks #chookies #farm #hobbyfarm #pets #poultry

  I've had random issues. Neighbor's dogs, owners reinbursed for that. Turkey vultures will take any color from white to black.

  Question is it ok to date them? First time chicken Mom, but can you date the eggs daily.. im not quite set up as yourself. I know first in first out, but for those on the counter? Need help to figure out that i sm issue the oldest ones first. Please be nice this is my first flock of 17 hens.. maybe one is a roo. In that case if i have a roo, is there anything different about keeping and storing the eggs? Im trying to watch all your videos. Thanks in advance.. im so glad i found you 🐣🐤🐔🥚🥚❤

  We had two quails that both lost a leg due to a rat attack, they became house pets that were treated to regular spa days (ie due to only one leg they often sat in their own poop and need to be showered and cleaned). RIP Henrietta and Harriet
