The VAST difference is that sports fan's passions run literally their entire lives. They've played the sports, usually from when they could walk, engaged with other fans in banter, and have pretty much ensconced themselves in that world. I've played soccer since i was 6, and still play pick up as much as i can, and i love watching professional soccer. I wasn't a baseball or basketball player growing up, so i don't really watch those sports. Also, these professional teams have literal history behind them, like, several decades, WAAAAAAAAY before they were even born. There are stories weaved throughout the cities history of victories and defeats, but with music you get absolutely none of that. The vast majority of pop fans are women, because the barrier for entry is practically non-existent. You can just stream a band now and be like, 'hey, i like this artist. maybe they're playing somewhere close so i can see them". And more often than not, they have zero musical talents or inclinations at all, so them liking an artist is usually nothing deeper than "they're popular and they make me feel good when i put them on in the background while i do chores". And while most pop fans are women, most metal and hard rock fans are men, because they understand the insane talent and dedication needed to play at THAT level, usually because they also, like sports fans, have played drums or guitar or bass their entire lives and also ensconced themselves in that world. So yeah, being super gung ho over a sports team when you've invested your entire life with thousands of hours of practice in the sport and liking said team with rich history makes total sense, while mostly women fans randomly picking a musical group with no interest in the actual music being gung ho makes zero sense.

Hi Celeste! I am 68 years old and a fairly new ARMY. I've been listening to BTS's music for a few months and loving all the video content available out there on social media. Now I want to dive into the deep Jungian stuff and the "BTS Universe." I watched your excellent "Blood, Sweat, and Tears" explanation video, which got me hooked. I'd like to know which of your videos I should watch and in what order so that I can get up to speed. Nope. The reason why BTS became huge was they were at the right place at the right time during the boom of wifi, smartphones, and social media around 2016. They were the group that capitalized on the scene when Tiktok was starting, the new IG/FB trends, the 15 second video clips era, and youtubers era where "likes, views, plays, followers" are all that matter to became famous. There are way way more hardworking and talented groups than them. They aren't an exceptional group tbh. It just so happened that their pretty boy looks and gimmicks catered to the US teenagers that time when internet and technology took over. They sell fantasy to them (like all Kpop groups do) and again, it just so happened they came at the right time. If you put BTS on that 2010-2012 era, they'll be completely overshadowed by the likes of Bigbang and Super Junior. It was all luck for them thanks to wifi and internet. Not hating though. Been a kpop fan since 2007 and I'm just stating facts.

hi xceleste, to one of the very first bts og stan here..i remember watching a video of you with jrekml..a vlog filming bts practiced in a stadium and hearing crazy fan chants outside and even captioned the video like "train to busan"??? and now im watching again a real bts concert in busan..lollove it..
