In my point of view it is about him first ending up in the friend zone, restating his life and finally getting into a relationship with the same girl who friend-zoned him. But in both cases he ended up getting hurt. At the end he ended up with only himself... which shows no matter what hapoens ultimately the one who has your back is you yourself. You can be your own truest companion. So loving yourself and accepting yourself is very important.

This is how I observed the interactions.... First section, He is single and painfully aware of everyone elses relationships. Glamorizing them and he feels alone..... Second part, is where he IS in a relationship and lovey dovey with his partner and oblivious to the "chaos" of IRL couplehood and how relationships actually is in reality. Then the final scene when he's been "friend zoned.", he's accepted it and pretty much has accepted himself .

I think he was unhappy being the only one single among couples. When he got a relationship he wanted to show how happy he is, but everyone around him started fighting, so in the end he keeps the relationship to himself. The smirk says something like "I'm happy now, because nobody knows. So everyone can be happy with their own lives as well."

Loved the song and heres my theory! So in the first half when everyone is happy with their lovers V is alone. This could be V in daily life when normal people are dating but V is unable to date anyone maybe bc he is an idol ykyk. Second half is when he actually ends up dating and gets a lover but when he does everything else around him is a mess, like when an idol dates the hate that they get, everyone's cancelling you. In both cases he dies, so no matter what he does he can't get peace, either keep the public happy and you lonely, or be happy and the public cancels you. But at the end we see that the V who dated appears much happier, kind of signalling towards do what your heart desires. That he is the happiest when he personally is happy lol duh.

Same...i kinda think the song is about the ex J* where she asks to break up and prolly be "friends" coz all the backlash and his enlistment but the MV i think also sortof throws us a rhetorical question, do you like seeing him remain single and miserable but we are happy or he is happy but we're not?! honestly just focussing on TAEHYUNG'S VOCALS AND HIS VISUAL OBV. THE MOST BEAUTIFUL MAN W THE MOST MESMERISING VOICE

I read so much comments by ARMYs concluding self-love, which I thought too at first but it doesn't go with the song. One reactor's reaction made more sense to me. First dream V was alone and sad. Next he dreamt that he and his friend (who he wanted to be more than just friends with) made him happy. At the end of both he dies, but notice, he had a smile on his face when he died happy with her. So his self at the end said, Yo, like what are you gonna do about it? And it made sense that he was happier in the 2nd scenario, with her. So might as well be with her and if you're gonna die... die happy. That theory to me makes more sense with the song.

There is a saying "Friends with benefits" meaning you are 'friends' to the outside world but you 'hook up' only when you want. Most have a hard time with that as one always feels that they should be in a relationship with just each other.

I LOVE Tae's vocals, his acting, and the MV creativity. Everything was outstanding. I really hope he pursues more acting projects. The lyrics are clear cut about wanting to advance a longtime friendship to becoming a romantic relationship. However, the MV has so many possible interpretations. It could be about loving yourself first and not depend on a relationship or someone else to give you personal value. It could also represent how toxic fans don't want idols to have a romantic life and when the idol openly dates it ends up with backlash. At first he was alone and everyone else aka the fans are happy. But as soon as he finds love and openly dates his girlfriend, everyone else aka the fans are intensely angry. Both cases it ends in the toxic fandom having a negative impact on him aka the car. Also in both cases those same people didn't pay any attention or show concern to the personal outcome he experiences. Him waking up beside himself representing that only he can decide what will make him happy and also only he will directly live with the outcome of that decision. Until the decision is made to openly date or be single, the cycle will repeat.

It really reminds me of The Ones Who Walk Away From Omelas, and how one person must suffer in order for everyone to be happy. Maybe that's reading too deep but it kind of feels like the choice Taehyung has to make between the greater good and his own personal romantic happiness, and it seems like in the end Taehyung just chooses to enjoy his own company (?) because you can be happy without being in a relationship. It's kind of a shaky theory but I feel like it combines with the other storylines kinda well. It's like Groundhog Day and he has to figure out the right choice to make in order to avoid dying (which could symbolise the destruction of the self/unhappiness but again maybe I'm reading too deep).

I watched it several times with that end smirk keeping me off balance. 😂 Now I am thinking, that I was overthinking it. Most of the time when you contemplating moving from friendship to a relationship, the worry is you will lose everything that is right if it goes bad. Things are too nice outside of that one what if. But would love make it worth disturbances caused by making the leap? I think he is reflecting on both options all the way through to The End. And then it ends with which version do you choose and suddenly that SMIRK at the end suggests he decides love is worth all the chaos.

So not sure how having (maybe) 3 LGBT+ couples automatically makes the entire MV about "gender-neutral love", but if that's what you want to focus on, that's your prerogative, though it doesn't make much sense. And it still doesn't make your perspective the "proper" way to watch it.

Sorry but he should improve his pronunciation or else he shouldnt sing in english....THE SONG IS AMAZING BUT HIS PRONUNCIATION IS HORRIBLE....AND THE MV IS REALLY GOOD

Don’t know what you were listening to, but I understood perfectly. His English was spot on. He’s improved immensely. Tae has always had a very unique voice and vocal tone, that’s his greatest asset. Anyway, I Loved the video, the song, and most of all his Voice.

He wants to reach a wider audience which is sadly only possible by singing in English. There are so many types of English out there and everything is pronounced differently in each one of them, due to English not being a phonetic language! So he is pronoucing everything just fine. Having an accent is nothing that should keep you from communicating in a different language. There are also so many dialects, should the people who speak them stop communication as well? Nobody would talk then.
