this is basically their take on Cupid and Psyche story from mythology except genders are reversed, Hoyeon is Cupid, Micol is Psyche. She makes people fall in love as you mentioned, and Tony is most likely Aphrodite or some other god of love who’s pretty much telling Hoyeon that she’s not allowed to love humans and the role new jeans plays are basically angels who don’t interfere with the relationships between Gods/Humans, they’re just playing the role of Watchers in this story. The rain is symbolizing her cleansing her “invisibility” and becoming human so Micol’s character can see her and fall in love with her

They are also like the Greek chorus that narrates the story and doesn't really participate in the story but are still part of it. The chorus in Classical Greek drama was a group of actors who described and commented upon the main action of a play with song, dance, and recitation.

i really hope they expand on “get up” in a future song or ep, because it sounds so good, but it’s just an outro, and, even though i love outros and intros, i really wish “get up” was a full song.

My theory on ETA. They called and told Eva they saw her boyrfriend with another girl at this party. Now she's obsessing over it. All she can think of is that phone call and what they told her, So when she looks at the cop she sees NewJeans. She looks at the gas station attendants she sees NewJeans. She sees them in the car too. It symbolizes her obsessing over the phone call. And she's picturing him with the other girl in the pool, on the hood of her car and in the car. Then of course the end where she dumps his body off the cliff.

ETA and Cool with you have some similarities with the newjeans characters. They always present watching. I thought they could be the Fates of Greek mythology. They ensure that every mortal and divine creature follow their destiny assigned to them.

I'd agree with 99.99% of this. The part where she hits and "kills" them, I think, is also in her head. She never actually confronted the BF on any of this. I think the end was her killing him off in her head; a "you're dead to me" moment.

There is one thread that runs through Ditto, OMG, Cool with you, Get up, and ETA that I think connects them. In every single video the girls are there but they are not there. Like they are voices, thoughts, or visons in our or the other peoples heads. They seem to watch and even influence.

Wow you actually noticed the way that sleeping scene mimicked the painting! Haven’t seen any reactor notice that! Some people theorized that the guy was already dreaming of her before she met him as a human and he could physically see her (maybe due to her powers?) Since it looked like he was painting when he opened the door with the apron on, and they showed her painting in his room.

You know how in the painting of Psyche and Cupid; the sleep scene and in the story Cupid never let his wife see him because they would get discovered by the other Gods. Micol can't see her just like how Cupid didn't allow Psyche to see him. But Hoyeon's character didn't really have a choice because no one could see her not even the Micol. She had to give up something to be seen by him.

Newjeans always seem to play some brain ghosts or entity around the real main characters in their MVs which is very unique

Yes, they are the ones telling us these stories through their music, so it's like they are Muses. A lot like the ones in Disney's Hercules at the beginning of the movie where they narrate the story.

The more i watch the more i feel like newjeans are playing the role of godesses or demigods cause they can be seen by humans (danielle works in the museum, hanni is a waitress etc) and i feel like in cool with u they r just curious and watching cupid go about his life but they also might be tempting her to disobey the rules and make the guy fall for her etc. Especially in ETA, it felt like they were egging the girl on and kinda possessing her to do horrible things to her bf. Also, her name was eva (she could be eve and her bf is adam and newjeans are the devil tempting her to disobey etc so idk about that part)

The correlation is NewJeans being guardians, almost like guardian angels. They are everywhere even on the car mirrors lol Plus, they narrate the story through the lyrics and their music.

Maybe Micol asked her to be a model for his painting. And he saw her around and probably asked her. He must be an artist because he was at the museum alone. Or she introduced herself to him like when she stole that umbrella and made those two people fall in love. Like a fated meeting or something.

I hope they can tie it all up with ASAP music video. Hope they close it out since ASAP is a fitting outro song

I believe the girls are "Moirai" in Greek mythology they were the personifications of destiny. Their Roman equivalent is the Parcae, although for the Greeks, they were more related to fate.

I think ETA is connected to Super Shy. I believe that the couple arguing is Eva and her boyfriend.

At first, I thought Hoyeon was a shadow too, but then I was like wait this reminds me of Psyche and Eros/Cupid. Plus, I've been seeing Psyche and Cupid everywhere for some reason and it was before these music videos came out, it's the same with Le Sserafim. I just kept seeing images of Psyche and Cupid online everywhere. And I didn't know NewJeans and Le Sserafim would use the story of Psyche and Cupid as part of their concepts. Aphrodite hated any woman that was more beautiful than her. She would curse them if she found them. She did curse a lot of them, Psyche, the mermaids/Naiad, Medusa, etc. Tony could be Aphrodite but I'm not so sure. Aphrodite is also Cupid's mother. Then that would mean Hoyeon would have to go through many trails to get to Micol. Instead of Micol doing that since the roles are reversed. Michol is Psyche and Hoyeon is Cupid. By the end of Side B, Hoyeon decides to do something but we don't really know if it's exactly like the story of "Cupid and Psyche." If it is, then she goes through trials probably. This story is told from Cupid's/Hoyeon's perspective. I think that's really cool actually.

My take on ETA. Newjeans is Newjeans not her real friends. The girl thinks her bf is cheating so she imagines him with another girl. She sees them in a swimming pool while she’s in the pool in her car. She sees them in her back seat kissing. Obviously not possible situations. Notice the ear things and mics Newjeans are wearing during the gas station dance scene. And Newjeans as cops. Not reality. Just her imagination. Even when she’s driving scene we see a couple of Newjeans members in the car. Not actually there! The shirt in the trunk symbolizes her getting over the cheating bf not her killing him and dumping him in the trunk. It’s a metaphor. In her mind Newjeans is always on her side and always there for her, helping her through the rough times. Kinda like Ditto. Hope this helps.

I think you're on to something! when Hanni was talking to Eva on the "Hanni" and she said "we gotta go perform! I'll call you later!" which means that New Jeans are just themselves in the MV like u said OMG. Its a similar recurring theme from Ditto MV: the bunnies (fans) relationship w/ NJ (idols)
