  There’s something that struck out to me while reading this…this is issue 10 yet I don’t think I’ve felt like the pacing has been rushed or too slow. Which amazes me, most other comics might have a pacing issue with it being either too slow or too fast but so far the emerging universe has been chugging along smoothly getting us excited. I like the backstory of Beachcomber, it feels right to bring up the fact that a bot could literally be chucked out of the spaceships, it’s not something I think has really have been delved into, only other character I can think of that had a similar backstory was WildWheels in cyber verse who ended up landing on Earth during the Wild West after he got sent out of the Ark. I also really enjoy how his character is really being delved into here unlike G1, like you said the fact that he could’ve made the war worse but yet you understand his decision is really neat, and super fits the character (which this comic series seems to never have trouble with) I also think maybe their trying to set something up with him and Spike? Also MAN I’m so happy cliff and jazz are alive for right now (and Ravage too!) was so worried they were scrap metal after the last issue, also this issue really loved looking at the dynamics of characters lol, Jazz and Cliff, Prime and Elita, Soundwave and Shockwave, onslaught and brawl too I guess lol. And must say I’m kind of glad they revealed that mystery boy as Ultra Magnus and didn’t pull a fast one and say it was someone else, I feel like if someone else was writing they definitely would’ve changed the character to give everyone a sense of surprise after people heavily theorized it was Mags, but instead we were actually proven we were right which was neat. (Although I do wonder how Elita managed to carry Magnus since he’s quite big even in the state he’s in) Overall good issue like always (somehow but hey I ain’t complaining!) Art is still beautiful. And I love what they’re setting up with maybe not everyone standing alongside Optimus. Who knows maybe Elita will do something reckless and disobey OP and like, blow up the base and a big part of the ocean or something.

  I get where Beachcomber is coming from but yeah, he has done goof! Like he could of easily drag the Decepticon bodies out of the Ark, buried them outside and then get Talatraan one reactivated to repair the Autobots. Also I find it ironic that eventhought Soundwave reconnect with Shockwave but it turns out that was a bad idea as even he doesn't fully sided with him! I mean Soundwave plan was better than Starscream but it's clear that eventhought they are Decepticon, they are not fully align with each other when compared to the Autobots! Well ok they got their own issues but not to the point of backstabbing one another!

  I'm not really seeing much of a future for Shockwave past this arc. He's clearly going all out with his time in the sun but he just seems to raise the stakes to such an extent, that everyone else cannot leave him alive. The Autobots want him gone cause he's a maniac, Humanity needs him gone because he's the best chance at destroying the world and even the Decepticon's aren't too keen, I bet Soundwave or Megatron (or even Starscream?) will have to off him to reassert dominance over the cons

  Hate to be that guy, but there's a lot that is not all good with this issue. First, pretty much everything is Beachcomber's fault. By not helping, he allowed the situation that has occurred to occur- then he doubled down on it. But that's just a minor point in comparison to the big thing. Gotta get to the confirmation of Ultra Magnus, the disappointment of Wheeljack and Elita-1 basically (probably rightfully) blaming Prime. The BIG PROBLEM. We are still 6 months away from Duke #1 -and that is absolutely a continuity conundrum they're going to have to fix, because this is a big problem in a shared, referential continuity. We HAVE NOT reached the 6 month mark - this is still DAYS after the awakening.

  Very curious where Onslaughts little story is going to go, his panel with brawl was a big laugh but he also seems to have been secretly over hearing shockwave and thundercrackers dislike of shockwave. Curious to see where he goes

  It’s nice to see Beachcomber again. The way DWJ depicts him here is fascinating. Plus the characterizations for all the bots have been spot on so far. And Shockwave and Soundwaves contrasting views makes for an interesting dynamic. Man, I can’t wait to see how this arc ends.

  Beach-dude wasn't fully wrong about not activating his fellow Autobots. Even if he brough them back, Earth is a house glass compared to Cybertron, everything is fragile, from humans to animals life, adding some fact that humankind would be understandably terrified of their presence and be labeled as global enemies.

  Sadly I was sorta afraid of something like this happening, I'm really curious how they're going to square this with the G.I. Joe titles where the Transformers aren't supposed to be public knowledge yet. I don't think it's gonna ruin the books or anything but I definitely think Johnson needs to put in a time skip at some point (Maybe we'll get it after issue 12) Or maybe they'll retcon the Six Month gap Duke had or something.

  This arc has been all escalations hopefully we can chill afterwards (I doubt this), and my word is this the creepiest Shockwave in Transformers. I feel Corona is killing it here really seems to fit this ascetic for this book being allot of emotions to the bots.

  Since hearing about Energon ports in their heads has me shaking my head. Why? So, they don't have brains? Where is the thing to store energy and pump it through their systems at? The heads and necks should be thicker.what is the purpose of them having a mouth? Do they eat too? Did they not know over the years what their bodies looked like on the inside. Some had to have died at some point maybe a head was cut off or some head blow. Or someone broke an arm. I think they would have known they weren't just organic at some point in their history. Maybe their brains are in their assets. Their bodies are humanoid. Why couldn't it be their belly button or in their chest or something. That energy port is a bit much for me.

  I think this is where GI Joe Issue 1 will pick up from once it’s out in November, Scarlett and Destro will be there own plots leading up to the mainline ongoing series where we will finally see what the humans think of a giant metal planet showing up in the sky and what the Joes + Cobra plan to do about the Transformers :)

  ​@@ComicsyCafe I agree. Maybe Thundercracker will defect once he learns the truth of what happened to Skywarp and provides resources for them, like, for example, enough Cybertronian metal to fix Ultra Magnus/retrieve his body parts and revive Ratchet AND Jetfire... 🤔

  My favorite part of this chapter is the little bits of character writing we got for a lot of different characters. Thundercracker feeling empathy for the captured autobots, Shockwave nearly scrapping ravage without second thought, and above all, wheeljack’s reaction to ratchet’s death actually made me tear up, which I did not expect at all from this book. Each issue I wish they just kept going forever, can’t wait for more

  I really appreciate the consistantly different speech bubbles on many of the characters with more unique sounding voices. Astrotrain's speech bubbles had me instinctually hearing his tinny-echoey G1 voice completely unconciously

  I agree with liking the Commando Snake Eyes more than Ninja Snakes Eyes. I would prefer to Desert Snake Eyes. Black Snake Eyes irritates the adult in me.

  U know this does open a whole new can of worms about the whole Trion lineage. Kinda like Alpha Trion was the first of his line since Alpha really means beginning, and since he’s always been known as the oldest living Autobot, it kinda tracks really nicely. Sweet vid bud 👍

  This is the only series in the Energon-Verse I'm not liking which is odd because I always liked Scarlett and Jinx was a favorite but this comic book isn't good. Everything feels off. Snake Eyes Journey with the Arashikage was light years more interesting. I have nothing against Scarlett being Bi-Sexual but the execution feels forced, to the point where its cringe. I'll give this comic book one more try. Personally I think I'll be wasting my time but just one more. However I was never a fan of Destro but his series so far is off to an excellent start. If it fails to reel me in...always have your excellent reviews to fall on my friend.

  @@Paulies-Hideout I appreciate the kind words and I can see how this one might not hit as hard after some of the bangers we've had so far. Hopefully it'll pick back up for you! And, for whatever it's worth, Thompson put out a statement saying that she didn't change Scarlett's sexuality (1979semifinalist.substack.com/p/birds-puffs-joes-and-black-cloaks ). But I've seen a few people come to the conclusion that the character is gay or bi, so I dunno, maybe the writing could have been a little more clear in that regard?

  Actually, good job with Muge no Nami (Wave of Infinity). I too feel that it may be something like Nightbird, a ningyou (doll) built from a salvaged Transformer in the past? I wouldn't be surprised having a "battle doll" fighting in the Sengoku Period.

  Moonbase, thank you for another great video. My only guess regarding the weapon, is the ninja bot from the G1 Transformers series. Do you think they would introduce the Head Masters this soon? That is my only other weapons guess that combines the Joe's and the Autobots. Thanks again for a fantastic overview of this comic.

  I agree, I think the weapon might be Transformers-related. Maybe it's Nightbird or Nijika from the G1 show. That's the best guess I can think of at the moment. Outside of that, I do hope we get to see Snake Eyes again. Maybe even an origin before he loses his voice. But there are still three issues so we'll see what happens. And who knows? Maybe he might be the next mini-series.

  I'm really curious how and when they'll introduce Snake Eyes. I think your idea of an origin is an interesting one! And you know, I think he could make sense as a potential mini-series...assuming Hasbro isn't taking an approach to Snake Eyes similar to what they wanted with Bumblebee...

  @@Moonbase3 My theory is that since sales are high, they're holding off on Snake Eyes until they need to goose the sales. And like with Mystique in X-Men I expect to find Zartan in some position of power, like Major Gorman in issue #1 of Scarlett.

  My G.I Joe Classified Scarlett came yesterday, what a coincidence. Becoming a G.I Joe fan came at higher cost of my wallet. Transformers grabs me by my legs and G.I Joe grabs me by my arms and the two will work together to rip me in two.

  I still think the second team may be called the Falcons, considering it's more covert based and it's what Flint's team was called in GIJOE Renegades, though their mission was to hunt down the Joes, who were more of an A-Team style team consisting of Duke, Scarlett, Roadblock, Tunnel Rat, Rip Cord, and Snake Eyes

  ​​​@@Moonbase3hell there might be another announcement of an ongoing series(or mini)of hawks falcon team but I think that might be retain n the ongoing joe comic cuz the reason I say that is because how r they gonna balance both teams n this 1 ongoing comic series(not to mention cobra)?.and even then who would the falcon team be going up against if they did get their own ongoing series while the Joe's r fighting cobra?I would say baron ironblood or probably non-cobra members/villians from the transformers franchise that have their hands on cybertronian tech like Silas/mech or dr.arkeville. There r so many possibilities on where they can go(temporarily)with hawks falcon team and I'm here for it.

  This issue was okay, not sure why they need Scarlett to be bi-sexual, but they are definitely trying (and failing) to be subtle about it. I don't have anything against it on the face of it, but I'm not sure why it's necessary. While this creates a connection to Jinx and the extraction angle, it concerns me as a kind of deletion of Snake-Eyes in the lore we have so far. I'm not clamoring for a Snake-Eyes / Scarlett relationship - that can all be different in this reality - but I DO wonder how he will figure into the entire story if they're separating him from the Arashikage. I think this issue is slower, but better than Destro #1 - not to say ANY of these have been bad, just so far I'm not feeling it as much. I also think the announcement of G.I.Joe this November has a bit of an effect on these titles. For my money, if there's going to be a Transformers reference, it's going to be this weapon. And to keep all this 'together', there NEEDS to be at least a reference.

  I agree, I really think the weapon is going to tie into Transformers in someway...but I'm confused on how it could be so important to the Arashikage that it's referred to as the "Soul of the Arashikage." I saw stuff going around online about Scarlett being gay/bi because of her closeness to Jinx, but I was skeptical because of the line where she says Jinx is like a sister to her. The significance of that line has been confirmed when Thompson shut down the possibility of a Jinx/Scarlett romance on her substack page: 1979semifinalist.substack.com/p/birds-puffs-joes-and-black-cloaks As for Snake Eyes, he could still have a connection to Arashikage - and (eventually) Scarlett. But, I can't help but wonder...with how much Skybound is drawing on the cartoon continuity, will Scarlett hook up with Duke instead of Snake Eyes?

  @@Moonbase3 I had not seen Kelly's substack, and it's good that she addressed it, but I didn't garner the opinion above from hearing ANYONE say it - I inferred it from the text itself (even if I forgot about the "like a sister" line. It's all good, either way.

  @@wayigotitfigured9800 Yeah, it seems like the way she wrote their relationship led a decent amount of readers to that conclusion. It probably could have been made more clear within the text.
