Showdown in the wasteland! Void Rivals #8 (Energon Universe Discussion) Image Comics / Skybound 2024

Ойын-сауық

Void Rivals, original creation of Robert Kirkman (Invincible, Walking Dead) and tip of the spear for the Energon Universe - a shared comics universe featuring Transformers and G.I. Joe - returns! In issue 8, Darak and Solila make their way to the halfway point of the wasteland, but Proximus - and certain death - closes in! New secrets about Solila are revealed and lives hang in the balance. In this video, I break down this latest entry of the Energon Universe, going into some of the implications and possibilities for the future, as well as taking some time to examine the artwork.

Same here! I'm hoping for a match between a cyborg Zertonian and a Cybertronian.

I thought that the issue was a lot less meaty than the others. But I calk it up to writing for the trade. I was disappointed that Springer wasn't the end stinger for this issue and I hope he won't be the stinger for issue 9.

Polada and Proximus being one and the same is an idea I didn't consider but given how heavy indoctrination Zertonian culture is I could see a change in identity as potable. Proximus himself is a beat of war, he takes everything Solila and Darak throw at him and he dusts himself off and shows it right back, I imagine that when Springer is brought in Proximus will be forced into retreat of or "dead". looking forward to Transformers #7 it a whopper

Yeah, I'm super curious to see if even someone as powerful as Proximus would have a fighting chance against Cybertronians. Like the Circuit Breaker of the Energon Universe, maybe?

@@Moonbase3 we don't the full capability of Proximus so maybe he as some other weaponry that could help, in issues 1 we see Darak and Solila use some sort of variant of Energon to power up Jetfire combined with what we see happening in Cobra Commander and Duke it mike be safe to speculate that Zertonian and Agorrian technology was derived from Cybertionian or Quintesson origins(if the latter had anything to do with Cybertron)

I think you're most likely correct, especially considering we know there's a Quintesson connection to Zerta and Zertonia, even if we don't know the specifics yet. But yeah...I wonder if Proximus runs on Energon!

I’m sorry but the cover of Proximus holding the characters up by their heads reminds of a certain meme. “Fight! Fight! Fight! Kiss kiss!”

I definitely liked this issue more than the previous, it felt much more like a full chapter than a small passage like the last VR issue. The action, the character development, everything seemed a bit more impactful here. Or perhaps I just prefer Solila. As an aside I do think Proximus will either be the brother or killed the brother, something like that. Great work as always MB3!

Thank you, dude! And you know, I think I prefer Solila as well. I can appreciate what Darak adds to the story, but I do find her to be the more interesting character of the pair.

I really hope Void Rivals doesnt get overshadowed by the other more established IP and they spend time elaborating on their world. I believe it has the potential to be a stand alone, but not yet. I find myself having to reread previous VR issues before touching the next one.

Sounds like the response has been pretty positive, so far! Plus, once Hasbro starts making Void Rivals figures, it'll probably give the series a big boost in interest and recognition.

You know Ray, I absolutely share your sentiment at the end about the monthly bases . I find it so much more fulling skipping a month or either issue and reading 2 issues in one go , ha sometimes I reread everything from the 1st issue its as close to binging as i can get . I don't have your level of patience, lol

I did something similar back in the days of MtMtE and RiD - it was rough getting a short burst of something I was waiting a month to read, so I would save up a few issues and then read them in one go. That helped quite a bit! :)

Honestly, not really happy with this issue. Like last time, just feels like all set up with no payoff. At least we got some neat action scenes and some insight into Solia's backstory. I hope next issue is the big pay off issue, especially since Springer is gonna be in it.

I can totally get where you're coming from. Void Rivals moves at a slow pace, especially compared to the other titles in the Energon Universe. I think this one will be much more of a satisfying read once we've got 30-50 issues or so to sit down and read on a weekend afternoon or two rather than the monthly grind.

Also, what is Handroid counting down for? There’s an explosion on next page. It’s not a solar storm because they happen at random. Anyone understand where explosion came from?

In #9, Handroid makes a comment that confirms it's a solar storm...but I'm right there with you in being confused, because we're told that the storms are random!
