You know, funny story. When I was first reading the issue and saw Bludd getting shot, I was fully prepared to reiterate my concerns about burning through characters too soon which I voiced back in the Transformers Issue 5 video... And then I noticed he was missing his iconic eyepatch through the whole comic. Curious to see where they are going with this. I think one big thing that's on my mind after finishing this issue is.... what's the actual G.I. Joe going to be in this universe exactly? This issue is having the Baroness talk a big talk about how Duke needs to break away from the system that betrayed him, but G.I. Joe is normally a government organization. How are they going to meld that? My theory, based on what we've seen so far, is that the Energon Universe's version of G.I. Joe is gonna be an independent organization formed by Duke to track down and study users of Energon, which is how they come into conflict with Cobra. Could be wrong though, excited to see where all this goes.

I really dig that theory! It would be a surprising and fresh take on the franchise. Yeah, that conversation with the Baroness is interesting, because they're making it seem like Duke could go either way in terms of staying with his government or striking out on his own. I just assumed he'd come back to the fold, but that could be cool if he didn't. Awesome theory, man!

Definitely my favorite issue so far. The assault on the pit was such a cool sequence, and I’m finally getting some Baroness on the page. I hope she does join the team at least for a brief period, then drop the long awaited heel-turn. As someone who isn’t into G.I. Joe, I really thought Major Bludd bit it harder than Frenzy (rip lil buddy), but now knowing the eyepatch thing that’d actually be a super smooth little bit of lore. Hopefully this isn’t a double subversion situation where fans think he made it only for the next issue to reveal his head completely empty. Honestly my favorite thing about this series (as you brought up in the video) is the color work. Coloring in comics has always fascinated me, and the EnUn has had some of the best I’ve seen in a while, Duke especially. Anyway, most excellent analysis as always MB3!

I did wonder if maybe Williamson is toying with expectations and Bludd is actually dead. I'd be surprised...He definitely got me if that's the case! Definitely agree about the coloring in the continuity so far. It's excellent all around!

that "its classified" panel gave me goosebumps, starscream is so menacing in that light. I hope we get a nightmare sequence or something where duke encounters starscream again, Like daniels nightmare of galvatron in G1, but actually scary

It's a really nice image! Stood out to me quite a bit more than the one from the first issue.

Bludd became one of my favorite characters in Gi Joe when I read his one shot set in the IDW universe. It was a bittersweet story detailing his family history and how he’s determine not to end up just like them.

Oh yeah, I'm pretty sure I remember that one! It's been a while. There were a lot of solid issues from that run.

Bludd has never been seen without an eye patch before this issue. I'd bet on seeing him again.

In the letters column they revealed that they are reprinting issues 1-50 of the original Larry Hama Marvel G.I.JOE run in a compendium this year!

I saw that - they said that by the time that issue had gone to print there would be an official announcement, which didn't happen. 😂 I think a similar thing happened with Transformers, where it was revealed that the Marvel run would be getting some Skybound compendiums but they haven't been officially announced yet.

I wonder if the colour schemes, red for cobra, blue for G.I. joe is a reference to their traditional laser beam colours.

Good catch! That could definitely be the case.

Like another comment said, common Skybound dub, the art is straight fire, Major Bludd looks sick, when reading digitally I thought the explosion was the panel being poorly copied to the website, but it being that way normally makes it better Sorry I didn't comment last vid, I just didn't have anything to say at all.

No worries! And oh man, that would be crazy if that was some kind of printing error, but I'm guessing it was intentional. Seems to fit with the identity of the book so far.

As I'm not the biggest G.I. Joe fan I will adit the idea of having Major Bludd's death being a fake out would not surprise me too much but they did kill in the beginning of G.I.Joe Resolute so who knows for certain. Destro is play the role of puppet master very well having Mercer and Bludd do all the dirty work while he continues his arms dealing. I'm loving Baroness current design and I'm loving this series. Really interested in how this wraps up and ties into the rest of the Energon Universe.

this series is doing what IDW and ROTB failed to do: make me interested in the GI Joes. Now, where is the one I´ve heard founded the team, Joe Colton?

That's an interesting comparison. I think there are maybe some common aspects between the two, but they feel different to me. I feel like Alpha Trion is more of a sage/mystic whereas Colton was more of a man of his time. Colton didn't appear much in the Marvel comics from what I remember. He was more prominent in the IDW comics after the Revolution event, so that's the most I know about him.

Does Bludd have a mechanical arm now ? Has he always had one ?

I think he's always had it. It was never acknowledged on his file card, but it was present on the original toy as well as the character model for the cartoon and comic. It looks a lot more clearly mechanical now, though.

In the renegades cartoon he loses his eye and the. His arm. So if that showed continued he would have gotten the full Major Bludd look

Maybe Skybound would make Baroness join G.I Joe but then betray them and joins Cobra
