    Is a 1-hour stint in an LMP3 more or less challenging than a sprint race in a P2?

  • @tttday
    @tttdayАй бұрын

    I would say the 1 hr stint in the P3 car is a little more challenging, more time on track mean more time to make a potential mistake. The one caveat is I have a coolshirt so over heating is not a big concern. In the context of an enduro there is more going on with the strategy and execution of the pit stop or stops- which are still fairly new to me.

    It's ridiculous that Corner 1 has a runoff that allows drivers to exit two car widths over the line at high speed. You can see drivers pushing the limits here, using the curbs and the runoffs as part of the racing surface, when the tire wall just beyond it has not been modified to accommodate that speed. Pino almost has a major tank slapper as he transitions onto the dark runoff area, and an off there to the left means pounding that wall almost head on. And that, folks, will be the end of the current layout of Road America; say hello to a big chicane. The solution: get rid of these giant paved runoffs and go back to a sand trap on the exit. If NASCAR doesn't like it, screw them.

  • @tttday
    @tttday11 ай бұрын

    I hear ya, keep in mind when club racing, which is a big income generator for RA, shows up you have hundereds of car for the weekend. Sand traps wreak havoc on the overburden schedule, with these lessor talented drivers going off track. Pave and grass runoff areas help keep the show rolling.

  • @tttday

    Hey John, not sure your reference. I believe the benchmark for 2015-2019 LMP3 car is a 2:03-2:06, depending on track conditions and driver.

  • @tjr3869

    @@johnulmer1622 LOL regarding the Radical (still a very fun car), regarding a Dayton Prototype, I think it depends on the HP of the motor and more so the driver. Truth be told the last couple of overtakes were from qualie sessions and I sense the Daytona Prototype was learning the track. With a good driver that could hustle the car in the corners at RA, doubtful I could make up all thoses car lengths created on the long straights. Next visit I plan to be flat through the KINK so stay tune.......

    @@pemainmobile8007 sorry I don't follow your logic, in my opinion Toyota is like a supebowl winning team that has been together for many years (lots of experience in WEC). Ferrai is like an expansion team in NFL, regardless of talent and technoilogy, they have no real experience running an Hypercar in endurance/WEC championship, and it showed.
