Yep, that initial pop could hurt, being flung and spun into the catch fence could put a lot of Gs on the neck as well!!

this was right in front of us. 10 yards away. You can see our view at "scary crash at road America Indy lights Christian bogle". Was pretty intense.

This seemed like this was a freak accident/occurrence. However, to have some part of the permanent racing surface being the cause of a car getting airborne and going into the catch fence?? That is unacceptable at any circuit, and clearly a safety issue that needs to be addressed. I think this shunt could of been WAY worse. I hope they fix this issue sooner than later.
