LMP3 at Road Atlanta HSR/IMSA Prototype Challenge Round 2 - April 2024

Round 2 of the HSR/ IMSA Prototype Challenge at Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta (The Mitty) Ten 10 Ligier Le Mans Prototypes (LMP3s) against each other on the world-renowned twisting, turning 2.54 mile ribbon of asphalt that is Road Atlanta.
Pro-Am Class
After 2 hours of battle, the black #25 car, driven by James French and Alex Koreiba, finished first, with the blue/orange #74 of John Reisman running solo coming in second. The final step of the podium was filled by the #57 silver/blue Ligier piloted by the duo of Nigel and Josh Saurino.
Am-class
Winner Jordan Menzin was in his prototype competition debut in the No. 18 Performance Tech Motorsports Ligier JS P320. Menzin crossed the finish line a solid fourth-place overall and was joined in the race’s top five by second-place Am-class finishers Tim Day Jr and Wyatt Foster in the No. 8 Ligier JS P3. Third-place Am-class honors went to Tobias Lutke and Travis Hill in the No. 22 TWOth Autosport Ligier, JS P3 which leads the Am-class championship points.

Is a 1-hour stint in an LMP3 more or less challenging than a sprint race in a P2?

I would say the 1 hr stint in the P3 car is a little more challenging, more time on track mean more time to make a potential mistake. The one caveat is I have a coolshirt so over heating is not a big concern. In the context of an enduro there is more going on with the strategy and execution of the pit stop or stops- which are still fairly new to me.
