Thanks for the great video, I have a question, I'm a Product owner in IT with 20 years of experience but I have an MBA in finance (graduated 20 years ago :) ). So, now I'm interested in going for CFP certificate (I know I'm not a CFA material ). Can you please provide your insight if it is a good idea or I will be treated as a rare species :). Greatly appreciate your response. Thanks
I am going to school for financial planning and counseling to be able to sit for the cfp working on my licenses now. I needed to see a woman doing it. Love this❤
YAY!!!! thank you!!!!!
what is a typical rate of return for your clients?
No one asked how she developed her network 😩
Instagram and SEO!
@@SilviaManentFinancialAdvisor Thank you for still responding! 😃
Thank you so much for this! It literally confirmed my determination to become a CFP and do the same as you did - to start a financial advisor firm.
Yay!!! I am so happy it was helpful!
Your chair is dope 😎
Thanks for the tips - very helpful. A couple follow-up questions if you don’t mind: 1) when you say you used the CFAI curriculum, what did you use it for exactly? EOC and BBs? Did you read any of it or rely solely on Mark Meldrum videos for your actual learning? 2) When you mentioned going through the curriculum 3-5 times, does that mean watching Mark’s topic videos 3-5 times, or reading the text, or something else?
I used EVERYTHING! End of chapter questions, watching videos and reading the text 3-5 times and doing blue boxes etc
@@SilviaManentFinancialAdvisor thank you for clarifying. So when you mentioned your morning schedule, you said you’d watch the MM video the first hour and then do 2 hours of practice. So did you read the text at lunch, or at night before you watched the videos the next day? Sorry for all the questions!
Great video!
Thank you!
It seems like you're setting a clients up with a investment Bank or hedge fund, so how does that work unless your investing your client's money yourself
great video Silvia. Based on the current environment of wars, US debt and Fed interest rates, do you believe it's possible to get that 7% rate of return?
You mentioned you didn’t like math. How did you finish CFA? Is there a lot of math involved there?
So I have recently received my masters degree in finance. Got 1 year experience working within finance I’m in a cross roads of making a decision in regards to employment. I was thinking about financial planning with aims of owning a business but I weight it up vs CFA credentials.
Absolutely don’t need a CFA for anything other than managing a portfolio or a research analyst
Thank you for being so transparent!
Awww thank you so much!!!
Hi Silvia, I’m a younger advisor in the Midwest. I’m interested long term in helping expats navigate their finances. What’s a good place I could start?
I would never accept AUM
How did you manage to get the CFA within one year? I think you said you got in summer of 2019. You’re the GOAT
Great vid, I’m forwarding it to my son in finance school. He is a senior this year. Trying to fig a direction after school. He is getting a wealth management degree with his finance degree. So the question is what’s best? CFP only, CFP and CFA or MBA. As parents we thought MBA but he wants a CFA, CFP is easier but you have to have 6,000 hours of work experience. Then there is the MBA but he tells us MBA’s are only good at Ivy League schools? I’m not sure if I believe that. Also CFA is very hard to get. I do like the independent Financial advisory firm as you have starter. We have our own business. So I’m a big believer in entrepreneurship. But it’s not for all people. It’s not a 9-5 job. But if you like a 9-5 that’s ok. So basically what do like best CFP, CFA or MBA? Thanks
I agree with your son! Unless you can get an MBA from Harvard or Stamford, I would save the money! If you want to get clients, CFP is best. If you want prestige & to get jobs at hedge funds / asset managers then CFA!
Is it possible for career changers to go straight to independent RIA if they have a good knowledge of the industry?
Hi Silvia, Thanks! Do you recommend reading CFAI course material in addition to Marks's videos or just doing Mark's videos with EOC questions, question bank & Blue Box questions with mock exams enough? Thank you so much It is suggested by other students that CFAI course material is very lengthy compared to others like Kaplan. I'm an MBA with Commerce degree. Best Gaurav
How many times should one read CFAI study material, in case you recommend it? Thank you
Kudos to you Silvia Manent, CFA, CFP __ You are awesome !! You said that one does not need math to be a financial advisor. How about expertise in Excel or other spreadsheet applications. Which ones are the latest spreadsheet tools for the financial advisor. Many thanks in advance !!
Great content. Because you have the CFA do you find yourself managing most the assets yourself or do you use models and focus on relationships?
I manage the assets myself! I have my own investment portfolio that I have for my clients actually!
Hi Silvia, I'm currently working as an accounting assistant in Ireland and am wanting to make the shift to a financial advisor role, what is the best route to take to achieve this?

Why am I watching this 2 Years after... good video. I am a Lending Product Manager, but have always been keen on Financial advisory. I wonder, if it's the right time to move to switch careers without being impacted financially.
omg you went to school in Spain and worked in Switzerland. you are living the dream, what an experience that must have been.
I’m starting the journey at 46. Is this a little late to the party? Former aircraft maintenance & nurse. I love finance & don’t know why I didn’t start earlier.
