OMG i still freak out about stocks now going up haha I need to stop checking my accounts, its very tempting. I definitely have FOMO when it comes to investing. Especially when the stock market is doing so well. I've learned to better manage by dollar cost averaging. Great video Silvia. Would love to hear from you about your investment strategies for passive and active investors :)

I used to freak out if nothing was happening with stocks after a few days too! I like to invest slowly over time too! I love how you mention that everyone should figure out their risk tolerance so they stay the course, there can be so much pressure from all angles to be an aggressive day trader that takes huge risks but it’s not a one size fits all investment strategy that will work for everyone. Amazing video!!!

Thank you so much Emily!!! I know! I remember reading The Intelligent Investor and basically telling me that if you bought a house and the next day it dropped in price, would you automatically sell it? The stock market's liquidity is amazing but the bad thing is that if you look at your screen all day you almost go crazy!

Keep the good work Silvia! I am glad to hear I am not the only one making such mistakes! I identify myself with the comments you made and how to overcome the situations! In addition, I would suggest one of the rules I follow myself. Do not invest in something you do not understand, financials of the company might look great, nice ratios, etc.. But if I do not fully understand what the company is doing, how can I know they have the goals that will make them successful. Example: I tend to stay away from pharma companies that work in the development of new treatments or medication. I have no clue if modifying the ARN can be an amazing breakthrough or just a common thing, or what the hell is the myosin protein and what is it good for. There are plenty of stocks, so I stick to what I can comprehend.

Yes!! I tottaly agree! I remember when Warren Buffett would say that he wouldn't invest in technology because he just didn't understand it. I feel the same way about pharma companies! For me it's too unknown and I feel that doctors or actually professional people know how to do a better job at analyzing if the product is good or not. That being said, if you know someone that you trust (i.e. a surgeon or physician who is smart) it can actually help a lot! Overall though I feel the same way!

Good video and I liked the humor in this one, although maybe I some found parts funny that weren't intended to be. The not starting early and trading too often definitely resonated with me but having to pay my tax bill helped me change course on that one. The one I still need work on is risk tolerance. It's not that I think my portfolio is too risky and I'd consider selling in a downturn - more that losing money on big down days still just ruins my day, despite the analytical part of my brain trying to convince the other half that corrections are needed for a healthy market and stocks are now cheaper to buy.

Hahah Thank you Tim!! I am glad you liked the humor :) I was trying to be funny but then I wasn't sure if I should make those kinds of jokes out in the open on the internet! I honestly feel the same way and I have clients that feel the same way! Losing money is never fun and honestly I don't think I will ever "enjoy it".

@@SilviaManentFinancialAdvisor Yeah def not enjoyable. Sometimes I don't want to look how much I might be losing. I even use the "focus on your actual job" technique you mentioned in the video to avoid thinking about it ;)
