To keep the case back undamaged, it has to be open by taking off bezel and front plexiglass. Then remove hands and dial to get access to the keyless work, partly disassemble it in order to remove the stem. I am not a watchmaker, but did it for my 3 or 4 similar automatic swatch.

@vintagewatchtinkererАй бұрын
I needed to find the right angle to join by rotating the crown and finding a light "click" feel. If the angle is correct, you won't need so much power to join them.

It is a ETA 2842 not ETA 2824. 2842 is based on the 2824 but is a lower quality movement. You can see the ETA 2842 stamp near the Balance at 16:39
@domino0519702 ай бұрын
I think the 'quality' is similar to the basic grade 2824-2. The difference is that a 2842 doesn't have hack and 21.8 instead of 28.0.

@vintagewatchtinkererАй бұрын
A special tool seems to be required for adjustment. I tried an adjustment with tweezers, but I couldn't get the expected result. Anyway, I recommend not to trying it because it is for fine tuning. If the watch is running noticeably slow/fast, there might be another problem.

Is 620 omega movement a good movement sir ? Parts are so less in quantity
@vintagewatchtinkererАй бұрын
It is a great movement for ladies' watches in the golden era of Omega. I prefer cal.620 rather than cal.625, which may look cheaper. Finding cal.620 parts is not easy. Finding a movement sold for parts will be easier and cheaper.

That was a very interesting video. I had no Idea that the inside of a watch was so Intricate. I have an Omega Constellation Electronic Chronometer f300Hz watch that at one time ran but does not anymore. I made the mistake of bringing it to a regular jewelry shop and they had it for two weeks. They got back to me and said they can't work on the Omega and that I should send it off to Omega for servicing. I wish I had done my research prior to letting those clowns near my watch. This is watch that is worth fixing but not sure where to go. Anyone have any suggestions?
@vintagewatchtinkererАй бұрын
Even an experienced watchmaker cannot fix the watch without parts for repair. You'll need to find a "tuning fork watch repair" specialist. They will have the required parts and skills to revive your watch. I found some of them in the Internet, but never have tried. Good luck!

Can I know what oil/grease do you use on the movement and do you use the same type for every service or restoration?
@vintagewatchtinkererАй бұрын
Yes, I use the same oil for all watches. I live in Japan so I use Citizen/Seiko oils (AO-2, AO-3, S-4, and S-6). For general hobby use, the minimum set will be a light oil (e.g., Moebius 9010) for jewels and medium/heavy oil (e.g., Moebius D5) for other metal pivots/contact points. For automatic movement, we also need a mainspring barrel breaking grease.

Having a nightmare of a time assembling the day and date wheels. Had to use a back up dial plate and day wheel because I broke the cardinal rule of "If you need to apply a lot of pressure, you are doing something wrong." Anyway, can't seem to get the day wheel to slip under the tooth of the date wheel. The service manual doesn't clearly show this, and to my eyes looks like its not even necessary, from the pics in the manual, but I will go by you. Any advice?
@vintagewatchtinkerer3 ай бұрын
Yeah - it's too simple so the assembly was complicated. We need to keep holding the date dial in place and place the day dial on it. Then, I gently pressed and twisted the day dial to engage the wheel with the internal jumper. The day dial has the direction. I tested the installation without the date disk. I hope this can help a bit.
@hisstorymn3 ай бұрын
Thank you for replying! It seems also that your finger placement gives the needed "lift" for the day dial to slip under the date, will have to try to duplicate it. One day I hope to be able to do a complete breakdown and reassemble, I have a "play movement" I use for my valiant but failed attempts 🤣! For now I keep the movement whole except for the external wheels, gears, etc. I pop the winding gear in the stem sandwich out for lubrication. I use 9010 on the fork and the escapement pivots, and the cups holding the balance. HP1300 is used on the rest of the drive train pivots or where anything moves slow. I moly kote the stem and the "square" hole gear and the other gears in the motion works. While Timex says the mainspring is "permanently" coated I also remember that the HMS Titanic was unsinkable. After 30 to 50 years of abuse and neglect, I put a fine line of grease across the top of the mainspring. So that's my method, as the old saying goes ask three watchmakers how to oil an movement and you will get four different answers.
