Try To Service A Hamilton Mechanical Chronograph - LWO283 movement

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

Hi! In this video, I'll try to service a mechanical chronograph watch. I have wanted to own American-brand watches. Although Hamilton is no longer an American company, this watch backplate proudly tells the history of the company, Hamilton Watch Co. Lancaster, Pennsylvania U.S.A.
A year ago, I started repairing watches as a hobby. One of the reasons, and this is my ultimate goal, is to maintain the Omega Speedmaster Automatic myself that my father gave me 20 years ago. This Hamilton has the LWO 283 movement. This is a chronograph movement based on the ETA 2892-2 movement, which is a sibling of my Omega Speedmaster Omega 3220 movement. If I could service this movement, technically, I can service my Omega. Let's see if I am ready for it.
I lubricated all parts as the technical guide recommended. I didn't include those scenes in this video to keep the video length reasonable. I referred to the technical guide for ETA 2894-2, Omega Calibre 3220, and Omega Calibre 1120. Please refer to them if you are interested.
I'm doing this as a hobby. This is non-professional work. Any questions or suggestions are welcome. I hope you enjoyed this video. If you like this sort of watch, please hit like and subscribe to my channel!

My quartz Heuer 2000 chrono with the DD chrono module doesn't run unless the chronograph is running. It's pretty odd as you would think the DD module would add not remove drag. I am aware that this problem is not unique. Can you explain why?

I guess the chronograph module needs cleaning and lubrication. Especially, I suspect the clutch has a problem. It's a common symptom of the vertical clutch chronograph module. It must be lubricated so that the base movement is disengaged from the chronograph module when the chronograph is stopped. Omega Calibre 3220 service guide shows the point. Please see page 4 2.0 Pre-lubrication. www.cousinsuk.com/PDF/categories/4436_Omega%203220.pdf
