Try To Fix A TAG Heuer Part 2 - dismantling and assembling Valjoux 7750

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

Hi! In the previous video, I repaired a rusty non-working Tag Heuer by cleaning, lubricating, and replacing some parts. In this video, I'll do it over again because it stops again due to a small rusty part. Also, since it sometimes failed to start the hour recording, I will replace some more parts.
- Part 1 • TAG Heuer Chronograph ...
In this video, I'll share lessons learned and some amateur mistakes. I hope this video helps someone not to make the same mistakes.
This movement is Valjoux 7750. This is an automatic chronograph movement. Since ETA reproduced this movement as ETA 7750, we can still buy NOS parts easily and reasonably, even a screw. ETA 7750 is identical to Valjoux 7750, but ETA made some changes. The balance assembly is one of them.
In my opinion, Valjoux/ETA 7750 is the best chronograph movement for watch-making/tinkering hobbyists. The movement design is robust and simple so it is easy to service it. The tricky part is the oscillating pinion and clutch. I'll share what I did, but if you have any tips on the part, please let me know.
I'm doing this as a hobby. This is non-professional work. Any questions or suggestions are welcome. I'll post some more automatic chronograph repair videos. If you like this sort of watch, please subscribe to my channel and stay tuned!

I have an interest in learning watchmaking and I think that my temperament is well suited to the hobby, but I find that the cost of tools to even get started is a huge barrier to entry for me. Any suggestions about how to begin?

Many watchmakers recommend buying good tools and I agree with them. If I had known this hobby is so fascinating, I would buy better tools. But I'm still using cheap tools. I started this hobby with a very cheap Chinese watch repair tool kit and Rodico. It is enough for cleaning and changing a battery of quartz watch. I found that it is completely useless for mechanical watch maintenance. So, I bought some cheap screwdrivers, movement holder, watch oil and oiler set, watch hand remover and pusher, etc. from Amazon. The additional cost was around $100. I always use a file and sharpening stone before using a cheap tool to remove rough edges. That's enough for tinkering on my watches, including this watch.
