I work at a small family owned scrapyard and we use a PC180LC-8 as our magnet. We also have a PC200 with a demolition grapple, a PC270 with a big Genesis shear, a PC210 with a 4 finger Bateman grapple, and we have a Fuchs 340 scrap handler with a Builtrite grapple. I prefer the Komatsu stuff a lot more than the Fuchs. That thing is like a spaceship. Oh, we also have a WA250 wheel loader on solid tires too. The Komatsu stuff is just plain solid. Well built and engineered, and decently easy to work on. The Builtrite grapple has been nothing but headache after headache. They have warrantied every one of the finger cylinders at least once due to failed welds. Now just this past week, it has blown the gland end completely off of one of the cylinder barrels.

That's cool you have a lot of machines. What type or brand is your magnet controller? @petescustomcarshop it's a Bateman solid state hydrodrive generator/controller. It's got a display screen control panel thing inside the cab that you can adjust the cycle times on and demag cycles and stuff. It works great. It's been on the machine for 3 years and has had zero downtime. Other than a dummy operator pulling or pinching the wires at the magnet. When that happens, the generator will not energize the lead to the magnet until it's fixed. It does a self test every time you energize the magnet. If the current draw gets too high from the coil in the magnet getting hot, it will reduce its output current to half, and if the resistance doesn't go back to normal, the controller won't energize the magnet. The little control panel will show an orange, then red warning light, then display the error and actually says why it isn't working. I'll see if I can find a link to a brochure or literature on it and post it here.
