Done lots of struts!!I buy all my struts from Detroit Axel, decent price, decent quality!! I had a few cars rocking on the lift!! Trucks are the hardest to figure out where to pick up!! With a lift give it a shake test 2 foot of the ground!! All Hondas have built in lift spots!!!

I use Detroit Axle and the parts have been great, no issues yet. Yes I would never want to drop a car, now that I run my own shop I would have to pay for it. Thanks Jeff

Pete, I'm diggin these suspension videos. Great work. I've seen a few videos where they actually rent the spring compression tool from an auto store, compress the spring and replace just the interior shock piston in the assembly.... I never tried, the entire assembly was only like $40 more so never wanted to mess with that approach. By the by, I went with KYB at about 140k when I replaced both front strut assemblies on my 2012 focus, and Im not knocking kyb cause most people like them and have good luck, but one of mine (passenger front) went bad after about 55k miles....just saying, I didnt keep track if i hit a curb or serious pot hole before it went bad. The driver side has been fine and Im at 205k now. I replaced the bad kyb with a ShockMaster I got off ebay, so far, no issues. (Also replaced both back shocks, a lot easier, went with Detroit Axle shocks).

I have a air strut compressor mounted to my car hoist right by the hydraulic motor. I don't change out a lot of the strut cartridges like I use to in the past. For one it's just as cheap and second the mounts, bearing and spring are usually shot too. Yes the newer struts no matter the brand just don't last very long they will start leaking oil with in a few thousand miles. I was able to pick this pair up for 1/3 of the price of just one strut locally with my discount. Thanks for the comment.

Yes if it wasn't for the rust this car would last the lady forever. I just hope I can keep it going for her. Thanks Papa

Looks good. I suspect a lot of folks are a little afraid of suspension work. You see horror stories everywhere. Depending on the vehicle, it is usually not too bad.

Yes, and this car is just about gone but I felt I could help this lady get a few more miles out of it. For me trucks are the worst especially RAM trucks the bolts are always seized in the bushings. Thanks Rob

@@petescustomcarshop for sure! If you can extend a vehicle right now this market has to burst at some point. I just got a panel repainted to clean up small rust. I want this buggy to go another 5 years!

@@petescustomcarshop 17 focus. 100k on it. Running fine just minor rust on the area behind the door. I figured address it before it gets deep! That's a bad spot for it

You definitely have to be careful when using a lift. Years ago we had a guy who came close to losing a car off the lift. Once the car was all the way up and the lift hit the stops the car rocked. The left rear lift arm shot out. Everyone in the shop got on the left rear corner of the car to hold it up so as to slip the arm under the back of the car. The owner of the dealership happened to witness the incident. He told the service manager to fire the guy at the end of the day.

That would have been a tense and scary situation. To bad the guy got fired because he learned a valuable lesson. Thanks

How did the car sit with those Shoxtecs? I've read they ride higher than OEM. Wanting to know because I'm doing my 2001 Sebring soon. Thanks

It was slightly higher in the front but both rear struts were and still are still bad. I thought it was just fine.

what model impact are you using?

The newer Craftsman 1/2 impact is a CMCF940 20 volt brushless. The big impact has been great but my 20 volt drill not so much. It fell on the floor the other day and the battery split in half I had to fix it and the chuck anvil is very loose I'm not sure what's wrong. I also noticed that the small battery for my 1/4 impact has broken bosses for two of the screws that hold it together. Thanks for watching.
