Excellent. However, I always wonder what is the intention behind randomly applying the background colors on the top of a beautifully done portrait , as if it is done by mistake. Many contemporary artists are doing this. Does it really add to the beauty and value of the work ? I don't think so. Seems it has become a trend/fasion nowadays.

What do you mean “too good to be true?” You sound like you’re implying it’s some sort of scam. Lapis Lazuli is expensive because the rock it’s made from is extremely rare. No one is claiming it’s better than modern blue pigments. No one is claiming it’s some sort of magical paint. But clearly the old masters knew how to use it more effectively than you… They make it because of the novelty or because some people enjoy replicating ancient techniques, not with some implied promise that it works better than modern products. Also, as some pointed out, it’s used for glazes mostly. Also, in 1650, they weren’t mixing it with titanium white, the whitest things ever made, but with lead white, vermillion, Naples yellow, earth tones and other ancient pigments, with minimal tinting strength. This just seems to have been a very negative video for no reason. You aren’t debunking on a scam here but rather you’re being ignorant of history

researching oil painting and you mention that safflower oil is faster drying medium than a lot of others. But, when I view other resources they say safflower dries really slow and that gamblin quick dry medium which is safflower with an acid additive, should be used thoughts?

Firstly, why would you create art for youtube? Traditionally, since ages, nobody or no great artists created for social media. Why cry now...art was always a niche interest among people. Museums and galleries are still there,if you are talented enough...you would not care about youtube or any social media whatsoever. If you're looking for validation from social media then, you're creating the problem in first place.

I wish you had talked about what you were doing when you did this painting. What colors did you use how did you mix your colors, etc. All this other stuff you talked about is nonsense and of no use when you're painting a portrait. I wanted to know how you did it. So, send me some video links that do that.

I’d say the big reason there’s a stigma with fan art is all the copyright laws. Artists want to make money but now have to fear getting in trouble for using copyrighted characters. Yay sketching and painting for “personal” projects, but you can’t sell it… or there is an insanely fine line to do so…

Have any of you questioned whether you actually love creating art or not? I feel like I would be putting in all of my time and effort into it if I did. Sometimes I want to just burn all of it and move on, but it has stayed with me throughout my entire life. Maybe this question is better suited somewhere else, I'm just really having some doubts.

Well, you are crazy but it does work LOL. Art is what ever the artist wants but the ultimate critic is the buyer. So long as its sold for mucho bookoo bucks the better. BTW from an artist to another, there are no professional artists, just insane people making art for themselves.
