lips as red as rose, hair as black as raven and skin as fair as the clouds, that is Snow White's visual essence to me.

"One moment you have a cool idea for a painting; and the next, you basically question every decision in your life" -- never have truer words been said.

I agree that you can change her hair style and accessories, heck I think you can even change her clothing and she'd still be Snow White but there are 3 things she always has to have... "hair and black as ebony, lips as red as blood and skin as white as snow".

Excellent choice on the use of a round canvas. It's as if we are looking through the vignette of a looking glass into a fairytale land.

Came here to say, that her lips could’ve never been as red as in the Disney movie because I thought that Lipstick probably wasn‘t a thing back then. But I googled a bit and it seems that in the medieval times especially royalty did wear makeup, including lipstick. So, you always learn something new 😊

You blow my mind man. Do a whole series of them. They are class. You got me painting again after years of not enjoying it. Thank you

Beautifull painting and great idea! I would love to see more fairytales. But I have to say that the dress is just a design by Disney, while the lips ‘as red, as blood’ is an important feature from the original story.

I love the final look. It almost feels more like a mix between maleficent and Snow White. Maybe it’s because the blue of the dress is more like black or something. Either way it’s a beautiful piece. I’d love to see you tackle kida from Atlantis though, she seems like a great one for your style.

I thought of the mirror when you chose the round canvas! I love this painting. Snow White has always been my favorite since I was a little girl. I even played her in a theater production when I was in high school. You did a wonderful job.

Very nice painting, and a lovely face, hair, makeup and costume design, although I'm not sure I can imagine her contentedly cleaning house for, and rooming with seven dwarfs who go off and whistle while they work. I would like to have heard a little more of how you settled on the face, like whether it was based more on the Disney character's face, the new actress' face, or just a generic face with the same basic coloring as the cartoon's face. The round canvas definitely helps reinforce the fairytale aspect. Anyway, great job!! :)

I love your interpretation! It's like if Snow White became queen. The puffy sleeves are my favorite. And I love that you took not only a more modern approach, but a more mature approach, rather than sticking to Snow White's young look. LOVELY!!!

The dress, wow 🫠 I love a modern throwback.

That is a very cool reimaging. I like it more than the Disney version you showed. That seems to be overly slavish to the original and very twee. As an idea for a iconic character, there is one I watched when I was young that I think would offer a lot of fun. Sinbad the Sailor. Not as popular now as he once was, but fun.

Fantastic. I would argue, though, that her short hairstyle is also a defining feature of Snow White. Their isn't another princess with short hair.

What I like from Disneys work. Is the purity and innocence of the vibes, even the animals. Emotional Intelligence with so much Compassion and love. No one can do Disney like Disney🥰

That accent is more mesmirizing than the painting itself...breathtaking artwork, but even moreso the artist! Although, if I saw this painting at random, I'm not certain I could pin her as Snow White, but great story& storytelling...really enjoyed this video...do more!!

The more I look at her, the more she comes to life as Snow Wite. Very cool! Would something that is a bit out of your ordinary motives be interesting to redesign, like Robocop, Judge Dredd, Darth Vader, Jade from beynd good and evil, Selene from Returnal? Anyway amazing work, always looks like magic when the simple brushstrokes come together and make up a masterpiece.

I prefer yours. Toning the blue parts of the dress and the white collar into a darker direction makes Snow Whites fair skin pop even more, which is an incredibly important part of the character. Her mother wanted her skin to be... Snow White. And Disney casts a darker skinned actress and gives her the cheapest looking dress you can imagine. It's just another clusterfuck fire waiting for be hated by the audience.

I would love to see you paint the greatest Princess of them all...Xena: Warrior Princess! Her dark hair and striking eyes, plus different textiles, amour, and weapons provide tons of opportunity for a fun challenge and interpretation :D Lovely work on your Snow White painting, it is lovely and inspiring :)

What an interesting idea... and a nuanced portrait! As far as suggestions for the next one, my suggestion depends on whether you are interacting with Disney's take, or if you are incorporating the tales themselves. If the former, I suggest Cinderella; if the latter, I suggest The Little Mermaid.

I always imagin Snowwhite as between 15 - 17, because of what the fairytale say. The Queen become jelous when she become more and more beautiful as she grow. And as 13 - 14 you are to young mostly a child as I see it. But after that a lot happens and girls grow into a young woman. It would be lovely to see you paint some fairyprincess in that age.

Beautiful- but Idk. The black on the sleeves gives her the jealous stepmother vibe. She also looks a little too mature. I got the impression from the story that she’s just on the precipice of adulthood- still a teen and looking very young. I’d give her just a tad more naïveté. Oh, can you paint Helen of Troy, according to the story’s account of her and historical beauty standards of the time?

I think your Snow White is much more interesting and realistic than that glimpse from Disney. I've love to see more of these. I'd like to see you do the disney Hercules! Or Tarzan.

That point about rings of power was so true. Some characters lost vital aspects that made them unrecognizable. They’d have been better off being entirely new characters.

I would love to see this rather than the live action they decided to go with. It has more edginess without overshadowing her delicate beauty. One princess I have in mind is Princess and the frog. Sure it isn’t a classic Disney film but I would love to see your take on her. Her personality really stands out to me along with Mulan and Meredith.

Actually Snow White's art and color palette was a huge inspiration for the look and vibe of the 1977 cult classic Suspiria. It's a horror/dark fantasy by Dario Argento, you must know this movie, it's quite a visual feast.

My critique, but it's also my critique that I see from Disney's live action is the skin tone. She is called Snow White because her skin is as white as snow. It's like this very major detail has been left out. It's what makes her snow white. Then with the black hair as a contrast highlights it even more. That said, regardless, your painting is beautiful, beautiful, beautiful as usual.
