Midnight Notion

Midnight Notion

Genre-bending riff-rock from Minneapolis, MN, turning darkness into light with passion and power. Midnight Notion is an accessible blend of ’70s Rock, ’80s Metal, ’90s Alternative, 2000s Pop-Punk, and a little bit of everything else in between. Using minimal equipment, they have become one of the most engaging live shows in the Twin Cities, providing witty stage banter, passionate performances, and full-room sing-alongs wherever they play.

Recommended if you like Sum 41, Foo Fighters, Breaking Benjamin, or Metallica.

This channel is dedicated to celebrating all things music--even the ugly behind-the-scenes stuff. You'll find multi-genre originals, covers, reviews, lessons, and the occasional rant about band life, all with Bryce's signature brand of passion, empathy, and sarcasm.

Okay, so I have my own Metallica tier list and I did not used the system that you did. Because there are things that I would not be looking for in a song to like it or not. For example the "Composition" category means not much to me, I mean every song can be the "Verse - Chorus - Verse - Chorus - Bridge/Solo - Verse - Chorus - Outro" and I would not mind that. So when I was doing my list I did it based on my "Emotional Response" yes but everything was in it. I mean a song being too repetitive is a problem for me yeah and it lowers my "Emotional Response" anyway. I didn't categorized them like you do. Only thing that can be categorized for me is that my "Nostalgic Feel". Because there are some songs that I heard in my childhood and after a long time I started listening them with care. And there are songs that I was shocked when I learned that it was Metallica who wrote it. And that's why my favorite Metallica album is "Load". Not just because of this but it is a very important thing for me. -Some comments on the song and album: This is a Nostalgic one for me and I really like the melodies in this song. My problem with this album is that most of the drums sounds bad in my opinion. All of this earlier albums had that "Vocal Problem" for me and that is vocals being too low in the mix that sometimes I need to dive into the mix to reach them and hear them. This song is not much like that but I don't like the mixing of vocals in the first 4 albums. I'll talk more about that in the other videos so for this video it is enough. NOTE: I will write my Tier List at the end of these videos.

First I want to say that I've found your channel when I was looking for a reaction on the song "Ronnie" and I saw your video and watched it and liked it. Then I looked at a lot of songs that I really like but most people don't. Then I looked at to your favorite song. And now I'm going through all of your Metallica videos even though I've already watched some of them multiple times. I'm having a great time. And I will say my comments as well. But for here I think it is enough. And I don't know if it's matter but I'm from Turkey. I just wanted to say that. 🎸🎸

This is so great to hear! Welcome to the channel. I’ve got a lot of hot takes, but it’s wonderful to know some others agree, even halfway around the world from me. Looking forward to reading your comments as you go. 🤘

This song always reminds me of Diablo II soundtrack "Tristram Village". Both rhythmicly and structurely I feel the same feeling from these songs. Because of this, this is a very nostalgic song for me.

You can definitely tell they were trying with this song for sure. I just feel like it falls under the same curse as pretty much all the songs from this album, it just goes on for too long with parts that were not necessary to be added.

Not gonna fight you on it, but bro… they said infanticide because the song is about cradle death. I don’t think knocking it 2 points is necessary.

Taking a friend's girlfriend has nothing to do with a specific culture. Surely you know that such things happen regardless of one's culture. Also, this was like free-style rap, MCs used to do this at clubs. It really helped them engage morw with the audience. I think it may be how this genre really began to get its legs.

This song is based on riffs Kirk wrote, introducing them in a tuning room video. I actually wrote an entire song around those riffs that, because of the Phrygianity of the riffs, I nicknamed "Roam 2: Still Roaming".

I think it was not Jungkook who was doing the low note in the end, the one in the far left Jhope was doing the low note. Jungkook just sings effortlessly.

I really think that the backlash was more about the BS that Lars pulled, suing Napster. And I think out of that retaliation, people projected their hatred towards this album around that time. Here we are a couple of decades later, and the dust has settled. Now we can actually sit back and enjoy some of the stuff from this.
