Yeah. Each of the 7 notes in a major scale are the root note for a chord in that particular key. It's just how it works and it aint rocket science really. They are called the "diatonic" chords-- no fancy borrowed chords or any tricks, just the basic 7 chords of any given key. 1 to 7 the chords built follow a pattern of Major minor minor major dominant minor diminished (or ionian, dorian, phygian, lydian, mixolydan, aeolian, locrian in "mode" terminology). So you learn the major scale pattern and the CAGED shapes and memorize the what type of chord it should be from 1 (major) to 7(diminished) and you can play the chords of any given key everywhere on the guitar. It's actually surprising how little information it is to understand and memorize and how long one can go without learning it.

When your little you count on your fingers. When you get older your fourth is right below your first. Your fifth is one step up from your fourth and your third is one step down from your fourth. The base guitar is arranged in the fourths. The violin is arranged in fourths. The viola is arranged in thirds. But the way we learned is the guy that was a little better at it said "Go like this, then do this, then do this again, then go like that, and repeat- now try to look cool."
Well, i think I've been doing all this already.... And I'm already pretty good at it. I've kinda always done this, ever since i first picked up the guitar...cuz I've always got music in my head that wants to get out. But i like to believe that i ALWAYS have new stuff to learn, so...
