This 68 year old mostly played my ear and listening to a record over and over until I finally could teach myself the song . With the technology now I’m blown away . I’ve never learned the pentatonic scales or the fretboard. My fingers and hands are still. Flexible. Now I can be a real guitar friend Jon . 🎸

The upper structure triad tricks is great. Also a fun exercise is to always figure out how you can get from any major triad shape to it's relative minor by raising a note by a whole step. By throwing down an extra finger.

I’d take chocolate! Hot sauce I can somewhat replace with spices. Anyone who didn’t click the link and read that story about the John Mayer songwriting contest is missing out, that’s an amazing story dude! Also Love that Jason Mraz album with Lucky 🤩

I swear finding your channel was perfect timing. I just started realizing that you could use the 1-4-5 to harmonize every chord in a key. I was hoping you’d dive into the V being related to the diminished chord. I just learned the diminished in all positions. I never learned them before because no one hardly ever discusses it, and I have to say that I really like trying to use it. It adds a totally different sound. Awesome video sir, I really dig this way of viewing the relation of these shapes. I’m signing up for your site. 🤘

Looking forward to diving into it more, Ricky - thanks so much! Yes, the V is a sneaky cousin to the diminished chord, and it's such a cool flavor to add into phrases once you hear it. To be continued...

How do we get from I IV V to II and VI also if it's the same individual notes? Does just the low root note change played undernearth?

@@guitarfriendtim Subscripion it is then. Could you possible do a practical use of triads video? For say I-IV-V or I - V - vi - IV. Both how to use the triads for rhythm and and to fit in fills, licks and runs. Or talk about using different voicing or octavs for a band setting? Usually my brain gets overladed when I try to learn triads but you had a great angle.
