Brian, I think this is the most important lesson you have ever created. This is the foundation every guitar player needs to start to integrate the fretboard and become a more advanced player.

Nice comment, I am def going to check this one out. It's already starting out good with the "forget the top 2 strings" as a Ukulele player here lol.

My thoughts exactly I've been looking for this for years...
Hands down, one of the best, if not, the best teacher on the internet. Everything he teaches is an immediately applicable tool.

I agree!
Most students will not appreciate the magic of this lesson, as it looks simple, and just there on YT for them. We now have access to the greatest music teachers I've seen in decades. I still can't believe such masterpiece courses are available "just like that" on YT. Fantastic lesson.
I almost feel like this is the lesson guitar instructors have been hiding from us all along, preventing us from becoming as good as them.. Like seriously, this unlocks so much it almost pisses me off…years of lessons and no one shared this. Their secret is out now, and they’ve all been exposed as frauds. Im coming to active melody from now on for all my lessons. Thanks for the light bulb moment!

For real, I always felt like a lot of teachers are holding out on some secret because I have watched thousands of lessons and I have improved but still not where I want to be. Caged chords, triads, chord tones are the path to melodic playing.

@@MelModica I just like this guy because he shows the road maps. Guys like Tim Pierce are great teachers/players but they never really show you the road map. When I brought this up to Tim Pierce,he actually yelled at me telling me subscribe to his pay lessons. But why would i do that if im not happy with his free ones? Active Melody focuses on road maps thats why i like him so much. I think his name might be Brian, but not sure.

A teacher (not guitar teacher) once told me “Teaching is an ever decreasing circle of lies that winds it’s way slowly to the truth”. I doubt that guitar teachers are deliberately lying to their pupils but it does always surprise me why so much time is spent in the ‘beginner’ years learning first open chords, then struggling with barre chords, only to then be told ‘You don’t need all those notes or to struggle with the barre, just play these 3 strings”. Anyway, so glad Brian is here to bring us to the ‘truth’ :). Been a premium member for years. Best value teaching site available. If you are not already, do it! You won’t regret it.

@@Boogieplex Yes, Brian Sherrill is the ActiveMelody instructor's name.
You're easily one of the best guitar teachers on YT, Brian. It's obvious you really think these lessons through. You don't waste people's time; you just offer a ton of value. Thank you!
Just wish you would start the lesson playing an example using the triads to demonstrate how they are used in an actual song instead of waiting to see an application 10 minuets into the lesson.
Brian, you've had many great lessons over the years, but this is one of the best! Please continue this for other shapes and minor chords. This was another example of why I'm a premium member. Thanks!
This lesson is honestly a masterclass in teaching. So well done!
Brian, I am sure that you work hard putting together your lessons, but you put across concept's in such a friendly, relaxed manner. Absolutely no ego to get in the way, you are a natural teacher. Thank you
I really like the way that this guy teaches. Through his explanation, you can sense an immense body of knowledge, but it is done without ego in a way of someone that remembers and sympathizes with the journeys struggle. I really like how he makes no assumption about your skill level with his explanation. He also provides equivalent examples and analytical parallels to try to make the material contextual. This is very rare and refreshing to see. It's makes learning enjoyable.
One of the best lessons I’ve heard explaining and demonstrating triads, thanks Brian.

Thank you! One of the best "how to use" triad lesson I've seen. Big light bulb moment! ❤
Absolutely the most important lesson for me and so easy to understand because of Brians amazing kind of teaching! To learn the connection between triads and the pentatonic shapes is pure gold. Yes, it‘s all there, but sometimes you don‘t realize it, until someone like Brian points it out.
Best teacher on KZread, bar none. Been a subscriber for the 3rd year now, there is just so much material... Even going through the old lessons with new "eyes" gives me so much insight... Take care my friend, Brian!
Another great lesson, and yes I would love to see the minor lesson as well!
Yes, please. Do the minor chords too! I love this lesson! I'm going to do it everyday. Just what I needed!
Awesome lesson. You asked if there was interest in a minor version. Yes sir. Please do. Great lesson!
Thank you so much. Best triad lesson on youtube. Why oh why can’t everyone explain things this simply!
This is absolutely one of the most impactful triad lessons I've had the good fortune to find anywhere 🥇❗🎯❗👌🏽👌🏼👍🏽👍🏼❗ Thank you Brian; and YES I would appreciate more lessons on this subject; a triad series on the minor keys, the diminished chord shapes and the triad shapes, in one neighborhood, that complete the "C" major & "C" minor scales 🤞🏽🤞🏽🤞🏽✔
Fantastic! Caught on right away. Other "teachers" should watch this instead of trying to confuse us with complicated study templates that only make us want to give up and toss the guitar in the trash. Really appreciate this video. Thanks a bunch.
Omg yes on the minor lesson..funny how u take information i sort of know and learned, and then put it all together in context to help it make sense...well done, ty again and again
Brian is simply best ! King of the light bulb moments for me . Thank you Sir!
Hello Brian.. I just want to say congratulations and great job on teaching this insightful lesson. I have seen many lessons but none of them seem to spell it out the way you just did. Most videos appear to be hiding something!! Thanks again for not holding back and truly demonstrating the road map to success..
I'm currently looking for a way to like this vid several times !!! I had several lightbulb moments watching this. Just amazing
I wish that someone had given me this lesson 50 years ago when I was in high school first learning to play guitar. Thanks for doing this very nice lesson!
Dude, this is like watching magic happen.
You use the word "overwhelming" near the end and that is exactly how I've felt about triads for some time, but this lesson puts an end to that notion. Incredibly valuable lesson here that packs a lot of gain for small investment. Thank you so much for this one.
Wow.. you are better than the teacher i paid 😢 thank you for sharing
This is possibly one THE best lesson on here. Like you I wish I would have known this a long time ago, it would have saved me a LOT of time
Wow! Been stuck on this concept for a month now until today. Thanks man
FINALLY! A huge PENNY has just mysteriously descended and DROPPED into my head. Thank you Brian
Just wanted to reiterate what others of said here that this is hands down a GREAT lesson! Especially for those that know some CAGED method but were having some trouble putting it all together and seeing the triads within the shapes. I've probably watched it 10 times now and will watch another 10 to make sure it sinks is. Thank you Brain!
Very important lesson. Thank you for sharing.
Gold dust information. This is probably the most important guitar theory video I have ever seen, so much vital info Thank you man
This lesson is, as all your lessons, a gold mine of guitar wisdom. All the major triad information summarized in 24 minutes. Amazing!
Your triad lessons are the best on the net. You always make it musical which makes practicing this stuff fun. Thank you!
Honestly one of the best lessons I’ve ever seen ! This is the type of lesson that will help people become musicians; understand and develop skills, and improve in every area of the guitar 🎸. You are truly a blessing to guitar students.

the best presentation of triads I have seen
Excellent🤩. Superbly integrated from introduction to improvisation. There's never been such a detail and yet easy to digest lesson on triad. Thank you so much...🤝👍👍👍🙂
I'll agree with other commenters. One of the best lessons I've ever seen! Thank you! And yes please, I would like a minor triad lesson as well if you would be so kind.
At least for me i found this to be the most helpful video to learn precisely ❤
Man you the best teacher without a doubt
When learning the caged system I found that knowing the last three string triads was the easiest, and best way to start off. Great lesson Brian 👍🏻
More of these please Brian. The build up from theory to the improv at the end was perfect.
I agree! One of the best lessons from one of the best teachers! Thank you yet again, Brian!
Brian, I've been a premium member for several years now. Brilliant lessons like this is why I will continue! Thank you, you are a genius! And a definite YES to a similar lesson on minor chords.
Also Bian, please do an updated video on Harmonised 3rds/6ths etc like you've done with this updated video on triads... this video is way better! thanks and great job buddy
This is mind blowingly good stuff Brian. I’m excited and intimidated in equal measure - usually a good thing 😆. Thank you.
Hands down the best explanation and demonstration of triads I've seen. I've watched several which have all been good, but this one just gets to the heart of it so well and so quickly! Thank you so much!
I started watching your videos earlier this week. I've been playing guitar for many years and hit a hurdle with advancing to the "Next Level" . So far I've only seen 2 of your videos and I gotta say you are the Best Instructor I've came across on KZread. Your guitar lessons explains what I've been trying to "Figure Out" for years. Big Thanks and keep the videos coming.
Brian, I know the Timestamps are more work for you, but they really are a valuable addition! Thanks and this Lesson is a 'Gold mine' , of musical ideas!
Cool! Hopefully the lesson with minor triads is coming. Thanks!
These Triads lessons have been an eye opener for me. Like many people I know the chords on the low strings E,A and D. You just opened up so much more for me showing these triad chords and positions. I like that you keep reminding everyone how they are related to the caged system. I really think you are on to something here. I would continue to cover all the functionality of the triads and how they are used in relation to the caged system. Just knowing the caged system doesn’t really help anybody if they don’t know what to do with it. Same with the modes. You can learn them but if you don’t understand or have useful knowledge of how to use them they are useless. Thank you very much for the knowledge, you are a great guitar teacher.
This video did to my theory understanding what those two- string licks to that bluesy jam. So much with so little. Thank you!
Since I discovered the lower triads, I’ve expanded my playing a lot. This video has expanded my understanding a lot. The 6, 7, and 9th variations are all new to me. Very good lesson - thanks. I am very interested in the minor triads. I have the upper triads on them, but you add so much more information that would be great.

Your teaching method is excellent. The pace in which you teach is spot on.
Excellent teacher.. Enjoyed the lesson.Going to my guitar now, thankyou
You are an excellent guitar instructor!!🎸
Finally, someone who can explain it well. Everyone else on youtube way over complicates it. Thanks
This is one of the most useful lessons I’ve seen in a long time. I can actually play triads now. My playing just grew exponentially. Thanks Brian!
Brian, this is the lesson I need. One of your best for sure and there are many. Proud to be a premium member. Thanks again
Brian, hell yeah! 🎉
This is another great lesson from you Brian. Please continue with more Triads, including the minor triads. In the past few moths I’ve learned the importance of triads, which I had never considered before. Your lessons have played a big part in awakening me to this knowledge. Thank you Brian!
Brian, I've been in and out your courses for years. This is the best lesson, clearer, and most fundamental lesson you have ever posted. Thanks!
Another great lesson! Thank you! Connecting the triads to the larger form of the chords makes it soooo much easier to find them on the neck!
Thank you, finally someone just tells you. So simple
Probably the greatest lesson I've ever had on KZread....and I'm only half way through it. THANK YOU
You’re a really great teacher. So glad I found you. Please continue with various triad lessons 🎉 I know some of this but you built upon it and explain things very well
Wow this was a major lightbulb coming on moment for me. Yes please PLEASE continue this for the minor chords.
I would love it if you do a lesson on minor triads as well. Very helpful video. Keep up the great work. Thank you.
I'm from Italy. I'm your Italian student, and you're my best blues prof. You make difficult things easy! Other teachers on the web seem to purposely do the exact opposite, to show how good they are at the guitar. They don't know that we don't care about them, we only care to learn, and you are the number one! A good teacher goes like you! Thanks!
Fantastic lesson Brian, as I mentioned before I like getting to grips with triads and this lesson just pulls it all together. You must have been reading my mind. Thanks again Brian you never fail to brighten my day!
Far....the Best explanation about triads in all Internet. Thanks Brian!!!!
Wow , way to put it all together. I’ve been a member for about 1.5 years and Brian has taken my guitar to a whole new level. Get the membership it costs one lesson and is so worth it.
Brian, this was such a good lesson in unlocking all the relationships along the fingerboard, enabling an endless array of improvisations. Thank you for all your lessons, much appreciated.
A great teacher that doesn't show off and gives it to ya straight. Kudos from across the ocean
your a true Blessing to us all! thank you for all that you due! keep up the good and brilliant work! your making a difference to thousands and thousands of lives! again! thank you!
I'm totally overwhelmed by your style of teaching, explaining tough spots but most of all i love your feeling of music. I am great fan of your blues lessons.
I've been cruising the net for years looking for good basic theory lessons. This is the essence of simplicity. Good job!
This is great. In front of my eyes and ears for years, yet I could not see it .... until now. Thank you very much , you perfected the art of doing the most out of those little triads.
Brilliant Instruction Brian, really clear, not moment wasted and no extraneous info to overwhelm my brain. Golden lesson. Thank you.
I’ve literally been looking for this lesson for 5 years! thank you so much! You, my friend, are a guitar god.
i'm new here, but this is a SUPERB lesson - nothing hidden, it all makes sense - i've subscribed
what a brilliant teacher
Brian, man, I’ve played guitar since the 70’s, mostly just accompaniment chords of folk or Christian songs I wanted to sing. I later delved extensively into studying classical guitar, & ever so often, I’d attempt some lead guitar. But, it just never clicked for me enough to make me want to put the mental effort into consistent practice. Until now! I’m really getting excited to figure out how it all connects “up the neck”, with your excellent tutelage! Never too old to learn, at least not so far 😂! I’m just so grateful I’m a premium member. (Now, if I can just remember how to log into the membership, lol, as I can some days, but not everyday!) 🤷🏻♀️ I love these videos! TY so much!
I've been playing for about 25 years and I feel humbled.tks for Lesson Sir Dekalb Co Tennessee

Man this just opened a door to a new world. Excellent lesson 💯
I just found this video, just excellent! I'll be rewatching it for many hours of study - until I get it in my fingers. You explain how the music is shaped in the fretboard better than anything I've ever seen. Thank you! Much appreciated! I'm hitting the Like and Subscribe buttons now!
This is the most important guitar lesson on KZread.
Best Teacher, all the world. Thank you from Germany. ✊✊
Brilliant lesson; I’ve been flitting around with these shapes, but never tied it all together. I think you’ve cracked open a whole new continent of exploration. Thank you!
I love you lessons. Some of my favorite on line lessons. Thank you!
Fantastic lesson Brian, thank you! I feel like my playing is gonna turn a corner due to this lesson! Yes, I’m interested in a lesson on the minor triads. Thank you thank you!
Beautiful video my friend. Greetings from Los Angeles, California, Nelson * ✨️ 🎄 ✨️🎵🎶
Brian, what a great video! I could spend forever trying to assimilate all that you've presented. It's lessons like these, that remind me why I've been a Premium Member all these years. Cheers!
Just recently rediscovered your channel and I think you're one of the best explainers and dot-connectors out there! Absolutely perfect for where I'm at in my guitar journey. Light bulbs are exploding 🤘🤘, thank you for putting these up!
