Regarding that "curse" the Elders put on Leonard and Dora Mae, read Proverbs 26:2 Like a fluttering sparrow or a darting swallow, an undeserved curse will not land on its intended victim. They are now washed in the blood of the Lamb. No mans curse can touch them. I hope this scripture is given them.

Im from a Hutterite colonyI was excomunicated 5 years ago,I've had nothing but blessings in the Lord .keep building on Jesus ,because religion will not save you.we were a family of 13 when we left.

I totally relate to their testimony, and it brings back so many memories. I left the Amish last year. My husband and I got saved, Praise Jesus!! 🙏 My family has shunned and disowned me. But the Bible says, " If you love your mother, brother, propety... ect. more than you love Jesus, you are not worthy to be called Mine."

A cult is a set of a primary religion. If you are not of the origin of christianity then you are In a cult. Given that premise?Yes the catholic roman religion is also a cult For it is. I agree with and understand what your saying and think your Exactly right we need to do better. God has always as Asked for sacrifice down through the Ages. Show us another church or way that is closer to this way or the teachings of Christ The fact that they’re wrong on many of these rules and regulations they have instituted are not scripture. For instance Not allowing members not to take part in the meetings is the Same as condemning them. Not A man on earth was given the Right to condemn another to hell. I think that the majority of The workers are genuine the authoritarian’s need to repent!

Something to think about today. Matthew 9:13 Jesus said; quoting Hosea- "Go and learn what this means: ‘I desire mercy, and not sacrifice.’ For I came not to call the righteous, but sinners.” - He brings this up a few times.

Thank you for opening your hearts, home, and heartache for us to learn. I can't imagine going through this. It reminds me of high school bullying in a way. It takes one small rumor to go around with teenagers and all of a sudden you lose all of your friends because everyone is afraid to be in your circle for fear of the same thing happening to them. If they spent more time reading the bible and the words of Jesus Christ, they wouldn't have time to go around worrying about measuring a hem on a dress. This family is the strongest people I have ever had the pleasure of listening to. They could have easily confessed and had everything back, but instead they went with their heart and the words from Jesus Christ. Most people would have done the easy thing, but it takes so much strength and courage to follow your heart. You are an inspiration. I am from Smyrna, Delaware. We had a large Amish community around us. My brother in law owned his own business and he had mostly Amish workers. They would come over with their horse and buggy and bring us fresh baked pies and they would even take the little kids for a buggy ride up and down the long drive way my sister and brother in law had. ( it was private ) when my sister and brother in law had their home built it was 95 % built by Amish, including all cabinets, table and chairs etc. I lived close to Lancaster PA once I got older and loved going to the stores.

I am a Bible believing Christian. We have a growing Amish community around us for the past ten years. I was a little concerned about them buying up the land, but mostly I was indifferent toward them. About a year ago I was becoming disgruntled toward them because they live in our community, take advantage of our services, take patrons away from our business, but they don't give back to the community in any way. Their horse and buggies and pedestrians are often dangerously in the way. When I turned these feelings to prayer to Jesus, he said, "They need salvation". So I'm listening to former Amish testimonies to learn how. I would like if your tracts could go to this community near us. How can I help that to happen?! I'm praying for them!!

I can understand how you can be caught up in something and not fully realise until later that it was either a cult or a very unbiblical church. This happened to me coming out of the charismatic and Pentecostal movement. I always knew something was off but didn't know my bible enough at the time to really know what it was. Jesus was alway mentioned and worshiped but the true gospel message was always sidelined as the focus was on works, signs, wonders, speaking in tongues and finding your purpose! Praise God I am in the word every day and go to a good biblical church whete we hear the gospel every week and Jesus the King is front and centre. Thank you for having the humility to share your story Merissa. Praying for you and David and this ministry.

I think it's good to know the old way of doing things, If the grid goes down one day it will, you will want to be prepared for that. But I see that some things can be taken too far, but where is the line drawn. People have become way too comfortable with modern amenities, and way to dependent upon corporations. It hurts a lot more for a English person used to these amenities to become Amish and give them up, it is almost impossible. But for a Amish person to become used to these is much easier, after while the world creeps in and the Amish will lose their culture and be like the rest of us. Your problems are your dress is a inch off. Our problems is a good portion of the young people are addicted to opioids. Now you are sitting swiping your phone not listening to your wife just like the rest of us.
