Alan, I was raised in a Calvinist home in the 1950s. It was just as strict. Am so glad I was born again in 1971. Never been sorry. David very therapeutic. Learned much over the years. Keep interviewing. So helpful.

I loved this testimony SO much!!! “There’s a difference between knowing about Jesus and putting your FAITH IN HIM” 🎉 YES!! Amen!! It’s only by the grace of God and our Faith in Christ! ❤

Amen. Our works are because we are loved. There is justification and then sanctification.

In that moment Jesus went from "example" to "saviour". Amen.

I’m so grateful to hear this today. Especially what you said about faith and works. Last Sunday my thoughts were on the man that was on the cross next to Jesus. He never went to meeting, was never baptised, never did any of those things, but Jesus said he would see him in Heaven. And that proves that the only reason that he had entry was because of Jesus and the Grace of God. And by this I don’t feel I can live a crazy life and do what I want and only what I want and just seek forgiveness at the end of life, I still think it’s important to follow in Jesus’ footsteps, but it’s just remembering that salvation is NOT earned

Hi! I can tell that God has been working in your life with your comment(s) Praise Him for what he has revealed already and what he will continue to do! "Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ" 1 Phil 6:1. You are absolutely right about the man on the the cross! He didn't go to meetings, he didn't eat convention stew, he wasn't baptized, and he didn't live a good life. But his final act on this earth was to recognize Christ for who he is! Like you said, JESUS is the the only reason for being saved! I read your comment just as I was going to bed but as you can see by the time stamp, I couldn't sleep because of thinking what God is doing for you! I plan on getting a video up soon with some things that have been helpful for me when I left over the years, that can be a help for others when they leave meetings, so keep an eye out for that. There is life after meetings, in fact there is abundant life in Christ, and Christ alone! I'm not sure if you have seen this, but its a little snippet of the man on the cross next to Jesus: kzread.info/dash/bejne/eXigmseue8vKY7g.html This is a song that also talks about the men on the crosses, and how we can identify as either of them, Though you might enjoy it: kzread.info/dash/bejne/dZlp2LupgtOxabg.html

What a wonderful man of God! Praise Jesus for the work done in his life and heart and brining him to understand true GRACE! I remember near the end before I left meetings for good. I had changed my speech to “You” and “Your” in my prayer and testimonies. I made everything very personal and my prayers were always different. I definitely ruffled some feathers! I clearly was not fitting their criteria 😃

Beautiful testimony, and great job of presenting the Gospel clearly. The Bible that most opened things for me was the F. Lagard Smith Daily Bible. Not only does he put things in order, he also gives you background history to help you understand. I wouldn't have it for my only Bible, because he consolidates books that go over the same ground, like 1 and 2 Samuel, 1 and 2 Kings, and 1 and 2 Chronicles, or the four Gospels. I wouldn't want to only read those books in that consolidated form. That said, the history of the surrounding nations helps so much, and having him point out the prophecies that were fulfilled also was eye opening.

Thanks so much for this video. I appreciate so much what Alan was sharing from Ephesians. The true Gospel is so liberating! I left meetings a year ago this week mainly because of problems I had with the theology. Where would we be without grace?

In Alan's story, there were 2 Irish workers who came to his gr grandparents in 1915. Tom McLucas and John Doak, not 1 worker. It was also my grandparents they came to so I'm very familiar with the story.

Yeah, NIV and NLT are fine for the first couple times through the Bible. After you really need to level up to ESV, NASB, KJV, NKJV, YLT, LSV, if you can with Strong's numbers. A concordance, lexicons, and dictionaries. I use bible software "Esword" since it's free on PC. I've been through the Bible several times and I was still caught off-guard this last time by the dead man who was thrown in Elisha's grave who then came back to life. A picture of us and Jesus, I believe, if we die to sin and go into the grave with Jesus we will be brought back to life. I must have zoned out all the previous times when I was at that section. Word of advice, Paul is hard to understand, so always go back to what they considered scripture. The same scripture that Jesus considered scripture. Having a basic idea of "how we got the Bible" is important to know as well for any believer. And never stop asking, is there leaven I need to remove?
