LTT - 002 - What the Gospel Means to The Friends and Workers & Why the Veil was Torn in Two.

You can contact either David or Marty at: contactletstalktruth@gmail.com
David and Marty both grew up going to meetings, (know as the friends and workers, the way, the truth, the fellowship, etc... outside the group they are know as the 2x2s because their ministers or "workers" go out in pairs) This podcast is to discuss topics related to the group and if scripture backs it up or not.
The overall intent is to be a blessing to people, to shine the light of Christ - to point people to Him, to point people to the word, and ultimately be used to the glory of God.

Notes from Podcast:
God is completely holy and cannot tolerate sin (Hab 1:13a;Ps 5:4;1Jn1:5). We have all sinned and fallen short of God’s holy standard/moral law (Rom 3:23,Is 53:6a). Sin has broken the relationship between God and mankind (Gen 3:8). We are powerless on our own to mend that relationship (Is 64:6; Heb 10:1-4,11). Jesus came to bridge the gap between holy God and sinful man (1Cor 15:3-4; 2Cor 5:18-19). Repenting, putting our faith in the life, death & resurrection of Jesus, and trusting the full weight of our sin to him, we are reconciled to God (Jn3:14-18;2Cor 5:18). We accept the free gift of salvation and are made citizens of heaven (Rom 6:23;Eph 2:5,8-9; Phil 3:20). We receive the Holy Spirit and are reborn as new creatures in Christ (2Cor 5:17). Now we are free from the power of sin to live a life of fruitfulness and obedience to Christ! (Gal 5:13-14,22-23; Eph 2:10).

I’m really enjoying listening to your discussion!! We heard in church also that the veil was torn from top to bottom and not bottom to top. That way if someone wanted to say that humans tore it (if it could have been torn), men could only have torn it from the bottom to the top. But God started from the top to the bottom showing that it was him who did it🌺

One more thought🤣😁 I do as David says...instead of always asking for forgiveness...being thankful for his forgiveness. Thankful to God for giving us Jesus!!🙏🏽❤️🙏🏽 Think of it like as a father and his son. When the son goes to the father asking the same questions over and over. How does the father feel? He feels upset because he thinks his son has not listened to him. God knows we are sinners...that is why he gifted us his son so that we may be saved.

Jesus has paid the price for our sins once for all, but we are not forgiven until we repent and turn to Jesus

I left almost 60 years ago. Nothing has changed. We never got a talk on Jesus death and Resurection which is the heart of the Gospel. The most important part of the gospel. Never on the Holy Spirit... on and on

That's weird. I heard all that stuff in meetings. Jesus died for our sins and came back to life -- it's Hymn #1 for crying out loud. Hard to miss that message! They talked about holy spirit all the time, that I can recall. I do understand why people just tune it all out, though, considering how boring most of the workers are to listen to.

I totally agree with y'all about the meaning of the word "gospel". They always said "so-and-so heard the gospel" but they meant "came to meetings". My dad was a worker. He thought he had the gospel when he started in the work, and when he left it, and when he left the 2x2s, and no matter how many things he changed his mind after that, he still believed himself to possess "the gospel truth". He wrote his "gospel truth" til he died, and who knows how many revisions took place in his head. With that in mind, I'd like to ask you guys, what makes you different from my dad? We have all left a church that calls itself "The Truth"... and right away, you are convinced that your new beliefs are "Truth"! My brother grew up in "The Truth" aka 2x2s... and then he got into another church that calls itself the same thing -- JWs call themselves "The Truth"! And I've heard from ex-2x2s who go Catholic or Methodist or Baptist or Evangelical... ALL convinced their new beliefs are Truth with a capital T! Shouldn't something trigger in your brain? Tell me, fellas... out of all the interpretations out there, how is it you two have arrived at the only correct one? How do you know? You're only on what, your second or third interpretation? Out of thousands? And you're certain you've got it right already? One red flag that should concern you: you are both aware that you don't know how to pronounce many of the names in the bible. How much do you really know ABOUT the bible? Not citing the verses and giving your opinion, but facts ABOUT the bible, where it came from, how it got here, the historical context, and the remarkable similarities to older religions? And now, you are going to put a show on the internet where you purport to teach the bible? Something something blind leading the something?

I haven’t been moved to leave meeting. I am convicted that I must go and uphold Christ, who he is (God) and that it is his work alone that saves us. If true believers leave then how will they hear the real truth about Jesus? It’s been my experience that when people see the real beauty of Jesus, then they see the false doctrine of the workers by default.

"Jesus" means "Jehovah is salvation". This is the name of Christ real christians are hated for. "HalleluJah" means "Praze Jah" (Jehovah). Psalm 83: 18: "That men may know that thou, whose name alone is JEHOVAH, art the most high over all the earth." The problem is Devil runs the world. He is lier and murderer. That's why we've got the Gospel about the God's kingdom. Jehovah would put everything in order. The dead will be resurected and we'll meet our beloved ones again! :-)

I believe that the Holy Spirit convicts true believers individually, according to our various gifts, talents and needs. I was strongly convicted that I could not be part of a system that doesn’t uphold basic moral laws nor the laws of the land. I respect each person’s journey without judgement and with hope for all🙏🏼.

They believe bc they’ve heard the gospel. They don’t have to hear it over and over 2 and 3 times a week.

We cannot pass judgement on someone because of where they find god! God is in meetings. God is merciful to all who seek his face. Is there incorrect messages or doctrines? Yes, but that’s in man’s wisdom. This is what we need to remember ”There are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit. There are differences of ministries, but the same Lord. And there are diversities of activities, but it is the same God who works all in all.“ ‭‭I Corinthians‬ ‭12‬:‭4‬-‭6‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

@thinkoutsidethebox4935 I completely agree that we shouldn't judge a person's heart based on where they sit or don't sit on a Sunday morning. Please understand, though, that there does come a time for some folks (including myself) when being lied to and taught heresy is no longer acceptable and it's time to act - in obedience to Christ - by moving on to a more healthy environment. Darkness and light cannot coexist (2Cor 6:14). Just for clarity on 1Cor ‭12‬:‭4‬-‭6‬ - in the larger context of that section (12:4-11), Paul is informing us of the different Spiritual gifts (or abilities) God distributes to those who are born again. Those gifts are given for the purpose of building up the body of Christ - the Church (see also Eph 4:11-13). It's not teaching on a difference in "administration" concerning different groups doing things in different ways. The summation of 1Cor 14:26-40 regarding orderly worship, "...do all things decently and in order" may be a better place to find instruction on that issue. The Gospel is about right belief, not so much about right practice. We'll touch on that next episode.
