I have a question. I have seen that you putted off the upper wheel. My question is why? Moreover, the wheel goes off with the help of an extractor? Does it go off along with its bearing ? Many thanks!

Hi Fabry bit confused on the question. The extractor and the bandsaw are not connected they operate independently. If they look like they are connected that’s more luck than set up. Not sure what you mean about the upper wheel?

@@fabry979 I took the upper wheel off just by removing the Allen key bold in center. Comes of easily. The reason was to try and get the rise and fall for the blade guard to be a little better. Was not much in adjustment is what I found out and it was a little fiddly to get back in place so unless you have a problem in that area would leave well alone

Made my eyes water when I got mine but have to say I have no regrets what so ever it’s given me new things to try and with a much thinner blade than the table saw has cut down on wastage as well

Hi. very nice built... i love oak as well - one of my favorite wood to work with. i dont understand the hype about walnut all the time. I also like using Larch wood doing things wit it. It seems that you are in UK - suprised that your are working in metric system. The feeds - i think they fits very well in hight to my taste. Btw - i like the quick run-through with the voice over videos... thanks for sharing.

The machine was brought direct from felder not sure if they build in house or sub contract the metal fab out and then assemble in Austria either way moving the hole should be a easy change should they choose to take the advice

Could be I have read a number of differing views and so could be built out of Italy or Asian country or just be parts brought into Austria to assemble I don’t know for certain what I can say if they are solidly built and perform way above the needs I have and other than the location ok the foot which was hitting the door have been spot on

Hi, last week I also got my FB 510. Yesterday I tried to get it working. Unfortunately, every time, the tires (green ones like yours) come off the wheels. Have you perhaps had a similar problem? Were the rubbers at your place glued to the wheels?

Hi, no I didn’t have this problem for me they have not been any sort of problem. I did read about something similar to this on older machines that had a defect in the tyres which felder replaced on request. Is the machine new or old? If it’s old would contact them for a replacement set. They were too loose from memory which would give the same issue you’re seeing. I think they are friction fit not glued on. Hope you get it sorted soon as the bandsaw is an awesome bit of kit when it’s set up. Mark

I love my FB 510 but I have to tell you I had to do an awful lot of fiddling around to get the fence square and get the ceramic blade guides square shouldn’t have to do that with what the saws cost.

So I had similar fettling needed to get the ceramics right. Kind of enjoyed learning how to set it up though. Don’t disagree on price they are not budget saws.

@@woodworkgeek i agree I learned a lot about the saw. I also have the K3 and Hammer shaper. Do you run your ceramic guys touching the blades? Their video shows that you’re supposed to do that. I see some guys who do it and some guys who don’t. I run mine touching the blade.

Good eye sight. For some reason I suspect the glue up left a slight crack on one joint this then in turn had the compound effect and so carried over. As a result was a learning board.

Have to be double careful with mdf the glue they use to make the mdf is particularly bad for the lungs so no such thing as being too careful which is one reason I like to work more with hardwoods but even they can irritate if your not careful. There is a good reason I upgraded to a jcdc 2 cyclone extractor to get more of the dust each time works great on the machines with extraction need to at some point upgrade those without but it’s a expensive upgrade as I like quality tools and they break the budget right now

How many hours does it take to make one of the full detailed chopping boards? Or is that part of your secret recipe not for public consumption?

Each board takes between 8 to 10 hours except the Union Jack that’s much longer as many more glue ups. Bulk of the time is sanding and finishing which is close to half the time

Hi I usually finish all my projects with osmos top oil. It’s a good food safe oil that brings out the colour and grain pattern really well. It’s easy to repair and lasts ages between coats so it’s my go to finish for many of my projects these days

The spline jig is awesome however as it’s melamine I had to use screws to hold it together if I made again would just use mdf or ply and glue so no screws to make a mess of blades. Also learnt the need for a flat grind blade to make the splines with flat bottom to improve glue joint. Always learning

Interesting you would make a video for KZread without looking at other YT videos. If you are going to include a repeating process, cutting many boards, soldering many pieces, just show ONE then SAY you did many to make it much more watchable. On a personal note, I think that wood and resin is quite ugly. #binit

Really nice box. Regarding shielding RF. That's tricky to do while it should look pretty. I'd go with the copper approach. Adding flexible conductive material at the seems to the lid. Should stop RF. Another way is to make a kind of labyrinth with two sheets from the bottom and one or two from the top overlapping each other. Not nearly as pretty as your current box though. Thanks for sharing. Thanks that’s really helpful been making a few more of these boxes and finding new issues. Turns out if you are not very careful glue can affect the rf fabric have done a box with and without glue one works the other pants. The flexible conductive material at seams is a cracking idea thank you very much. Turns out every day is a school day when doing something new.

Overall an interesting video and a nice looking result. A little constructive feedback: I appreciate the shared learning about things that don't work, but I think you spent too much of the video time showing you unsuccessful efforts. Personally, I would prefer a mention of the mistake, perhaps some thing illustrative to make the error clear, then let's move on to the successful techniques.
