Beautiful end grain cutting / chopping board in a Union Jack Flag pattern. This video shows me taking the boards from sawn walnut, padauk and maple into planks then boards then end grain strips and then the pattern.
I show the sanding the cutting dimensions the glue patterns and how I go about making this board from start to finish.
I sand the board from 80 through to 1000 and then get colour bleed between the maple and Padauk which I will have to fix at a later date.
Handles are cut in the board is oiled and branded and then rubber feet go on to the board.
All in all I am amazed at this board the dimensions are 100% accurate to a 5:3 ratio Union Jack including all the correct angles (30.9) and the thicknesses of all the timbers.
I am the lucky one that this board is for so glad after all the years of learning to be able to get a board this good. You just know there will be some good steaks, veggies and breads cut on this board. Woodworkgeek builds for use not for show!!!
