Guys…it’s just windshield washer fluid…the cheaper the better.
Thanks a lot for your advise. Did you test your thinner with AK 3rd gen paints? A lot of modellers have issues to thin it properly for airbrushing. Thanks again.
Amazing. Thank you beyond measure.
Your recipe for the "cleaner" is way too ambiguous ... is it 100ml or 75ml Windex ... how much alcohol? The math doesn't work out.
Good morning from sunny Brittany in France. I have returned to modelling after a 30 year hiatus and have bought my first airbrush. Your paint thinner recipe doesn't add a specific flow improver or retarder. Instead you add Glycerine as in the cleaner. Have I understood your video correctly? If so it saves me from buying two more chemicals. Thank you again.
Diluted white vinegar works great
I'm curious what is the point of the glycerin? Thanks for the recipe and the info
Please make a polo 9n tdi😢
my first time here , won't be my last . love to scratch build on different materials .
I just used this technique on a 1/72 f35a canopy except I used clear purple instead of yellow and I'm shocked at how awesome it turned out. This video has saved me a lot of headaches. Thank you!
Excellent tutorial! Thank you!
Try vallejo metalics they work great for me thru airbrush
Thanks
You know a video is old when dude says a gallon of distilled water only cost him $1.89
Hi! I intended to use this technique on a 1/48 SH-3 with Tamiya Clear Green. However, I got so involved in alignment issues with the windscreen piece that I glued it down, used putty, sanded masked and painted all before I realised I never tinted the overhead glass. Can this process be done on the exterior side and still end up fairly transparent?
why do you put glycerin in the thinner?
Hi darrin I’m a new subscriber, I wanted to ask you what is that liquid you used future? I’m in australia and I have never seen it before, I was hoping I could find something that does the same job? Cheers and excellent video👍
Video would have been that much better with ZERO music. I’d rather hear you breath than hear this same old crap music
Iron the aluminum to flattening
I actually feel the same way, I'm just winging it lol.
Hi , I have been looking all over for something to use to simulate brake cooling ducting like you see on a GT race car, can you suggest anything.
As soon as you started to spray the gold paint, I immediately started to think, it may have been better to paint the whole car white first. Did you ever complete this build??
Thank you, great tip, going to try some on my current project !!
Hi, wich brand of acrilics do you thin with your Brew thinners? Thanks
Revisiting this video as my recipe has changed. I now use Simple Green instead of non ammonia Windex. I also use a little flow enhancer in the thinner. Cheers from eastern TN
Baddest mutha
Great build, looking really good. I recently built a Meng F-18F Super Hornet, and that has similar engineering for the wing tips. Very nice kit, went together really well. The Phantom looks much the same. Was there ever a Part 3 for this series? I've been enjoying it, but I can't find the 3rd part mentioned in the outro.
Purrty dawrn sllloowww video fer all you car modelers. Could have been done in about 1/3 the time. Or less.
Will this work with mrhobby paint
A good trick for shaping slightly thicker aluminum is to color over the surface with red sharpie (only red works)- then gently heat it until the sharpie turns black, At this point it's super close to melting- very easy to shape, and just the act of bending it will harden it
The same car with all the accessories came molded in gold and the white accent on the rear of the car was painted white, was your model pre painted? I don't think it would look too good in bear plastic
those are nice thay look like real a/n fittings do you have the link were you purchased the a/n fittings and braided line thanks
I got married a couple of years ago, I told my wife I was an scale aircraft modeller. After we moved into to our new home, I unpackewd all my models that I didn't build yet. She asked me why I have so many modesl without building them. I said.... Well dear, this is what aircraft modellers do, this is normal behavior.
Where are you, what happened..
Would a standard hole punch damage the aluminum? Can you paint it and which paint do you recommend? Thanks!!
This is like old tv show, you asked for it?🤣 Jman
Dude…your stash!!! Good Lord D-Ran 😳 Anyway, I was looking for videos on mottling and found this. You were a lot more serious 3 years ago! Great video though, really helpful. Thanks buddy!
Maybe invest in better equipment (lenses) that allow us to get real close. We get the idea, but the area you showed is way smaller than the pic on the instruction sheet. We lose interest straining to see small stuff. ( rule of thirds in photography/videograghy) way too much of the whole bench showing instead of the cockpit, but you did good in explaining the process ( may have been better to prove how others worked) thanks for helping us be more clear on applying 3d decals. Keep up the good work.
Makes it real easy. Do you still dip it in Future after waxing it? And off topic question, but what camera and arm are you using? Thanks. Peace and love.
LA's Awesome cleaner from dollar tree, Easy off, or purple super clean all gets chrome off plastic
I remember riding my bicycle up to the hobby shop as a teen in the 80s. My model money was precious. At that time, Jo-Han kits were about $5, everything else was $2-4 more, because they usually had better details or options or better quality, like metal axels instead of plastic, and no holes in the engine. But i was happy to get that Jo-Han kit because i got to go home and actually build it. That is still my joy in the hobby, the build, and the dream of what i want to turn that box of plastic into.
I have been using your recipe for 3 years now. I will never buy thinner for acrylic, this recipe is amazing. The cleaner is just as amazing as well
Where do you buy glecerin from cheers
sorry you didn't build it !! I have a slightly dubious ZHENGDEFU 2 seater to build !
Kenitico?😳 Jman
A note on Ammonia: In its raw state, Ammonia is a very caustic Gas (not a liquid). It is used when dissolved in various other substances and used in many things from rocket fuel to agricultural fertilizer (including some food products.) Off the shelf cleaning Ammonia is around 30% Ammonia in water. Windex says their cleaner contains 5.66% Ammonia. When mixed in Grumpy's cleaner it is down to around 1.7%, probably not enough to do any harm unless left to soak in it for an extended time. Mission Models Paints do say you can strip their paint with Ammonia or Alcohol.

Hi, this question has nothing to do with this video - just using it as a contact link. Where can I find your instruction on eliminating intake seams using latex paint? Thanks and I really enjoy your videos and learning from you. I use your home brew thinner recipe and it works great!! Thanks in advance.
How are the bodies and the plastic glass made for 1/24 maisto cars?
Exactly what I was looking for in a review of this kit. Very good review!
