    My cheapo flat panel indoor antenna came with a very skinny antenna wire that couldn’t be replaced, but it also had an amplifier. I compared it to a Leaf antenna with amplifier and there was no difference in signal quality. I think over a short run, eg. 12 feet or so, there’s no significant signal loss. For whatever reason, I get better signal on my first floor than second floor. Sometimes it’s even better at the bottom of the sliding glass window then at the top. It’s variable from day to day.

    Yeah, I've seen some totally bizarre things like that, i.e., flat antenna gets better reception lying on the floor than on a window! Bottom line is you just have to experiment. Thanks for sharing! - Brian

    Seems similar to 4th gen Tablo. That also takes about 10 seconds to load a channel with a Roku device (takes about half as long on my old iPad).

    You need to edit this video to add the fact that the screws to be removed are NOIT Phillips or flat screws. they have a fluted hex head. Actual size is a T8. sThat is the ONLY tool that will work. Second, there are NO screws holding the fan in place. It is secured by four rubber posts that are conical in shape and just pull thru with tension. Lastly, before you can remove the electronics from the case, you must remove the nut holding the cable connector to the box. Those are really important to anyone who has never disassembled this device. otherwise, it's pretty good.

    That sounds like a streaming channel on your TV, not a broadcast TV channel. The Tablo can record from broadcast PBS, which sometimes does show Antiques Roadshow I believe, if you can get broadcast PBS in your area. - Brian

    I've had Verizon for 20 years in various forms. I just moved from NYC to Chicago & I had FIOS before, which was amazing, but it's not available in Chicago. I got 5G wireless home internet after moving because I had to cancel my Fios anyway & I didn't have time to research. BIG MISTAKE! The download speed is ok around 300mbps..but upload today was 0.15. I work remote from home & have to upload graphic files which are huge. Even at 20 for uploads, it took 45 min to send a 17MB email. Dropbox doesn't like it either. I've had it 5 days...I can't work with the upload speed situation. I've gotta go back to wired. Also it's only $10 less than FIOS was where I was clocking over 900mbps...which I don't think I was even paying for that high speed. Verizon is also very confusing. I could NEVER see my internet/cable info online with FIOS & now that I have 5G internet...same thing...everytime I went to click the link they sent, it's broken or I don't have "access".

  • @br4d4d
    @br4d4d15 күн бұрын

    Be aware, if you have a problem with your Gateway, they will not allow you to keep you original price for 300 Mbps. You will have to choose to pay more for 300Mbps service or only get <100 Mbps speed at the lower price. Your "price guarantee" won't matter because the old plan doesn't exist anymore and new device means new plan.

    I love the multiple updates. So i have had Verizon 5G for over a year and over all very satisfied. The last 2 weeks something has changed. Mainly weird connection issues. I have rebooted 5G box and devices giving me an issue. I am not sure i have gone over the 10 connection 2.4G rule? Most devices are 5G connected. Currently i have 2 issues. I have a good wifi signal and speed but half of my devices wont connect. As i mentioned, these all were working a month ago. I also have a 2nd wifi router, hard wired down stairs that has no internet, even when i wir to it or wifi. I may look at this pass through setting you mentioned. I find it strange I went a year or so happy as can be. Any thoughts would be appreciated. Tech support has been so so.

    The DVR functionality is what I wanted. I have 2 issues with using live TV and the guide. 1. The guide let's you choose 'all channels' or 'favorites', but it defaults to 'all channels'. You should be able to either select your default choice, or default to favorites. 2. There is no channel up/down functionality, you have to back out to the guide every time you want to view a new channel ( and the guide is back to showing all channels). Tablo really needs to fix this issue.

  • @disablemycable
    @disablemycable24 күн бұрын

    Yes, when I use the iOS app, I can't select Favorites anymore for some reason! (it's greyed out). I need to investigate that. I also hear on you the channel up/down functionality, but actually a lot of broadcast TV DVRs are extremely slow to switch channels. The AirTV is even worse. Switching channels is much faster on Tablo if you can believe it. - Brian

    We used to have outages all the time with comcr@p. We have had 2 with verizon in the past 2 years. It's been faster than comcast at 2 times the cost. Prefer my verizon even though I hate their other services. Also we had a power/phone/cable line go down last year, Took out power for about 3 hours, but it took out phone for a week for our neighbors, and 2 and a half weeks of cable for the rest. We had all internet as soon as the power was back up.

    I got here from an article you wrote. Thanks for this! I am a high income earner who absolutely depends on internet for my work. My local fiber ISP has been SO annoyingly flakey. I’m actually getting this as my back up internet and at the lower price point, it’ll be PERFECT to get me through fiber outages. And if Verizon ends up being fast and reliable, I may eventually drop fiber. I just love those 900 mbps speeds 🤣

  • @disablemycable
    @disablemycableАй бұрын

    Hi, thanks for commenting! Yeah, 5G Home Internet is a great backup to cable/fiber because it relies on totally different technologies. So if, say, harsh weather takes out the fiber, then 5G will probably still be ok. I get max speeds of 300mbps. Reliability has been very good for me. - Brian

    I’ve had AT&T Internet Air for three weeks and it’s terrible. Speeds are very sporadic and inconsistent, pings are horrible. I’m not that close to the tower, but I get five bars. DL speed can be as low as 12-13Mbs, never over 100, usually in the 20s to low 30s. UL speed in the single digits, pings 60 to over 200. Not recommended and will quit as soon as I can line something else up, no contract thank goodness.

    On my free Sing Account, (not Free stream Sling) it shows I have 10 hours for DVR recordings. If I get an Air 2Tv device and attach to my antenna and connect to my internet, if I schedule to record off the air tv with the free sling TV app, will that directly record to my app, or must I record it to a hard drive and than upload to my app?

    Has anyone else given a deposit to Verizon of $150 and then suddenly pay a low amount one month and then tell you that they put it towards your bill something you never requested? Well I just happened to me I don't understand who they're hiring at these corporations but these women are more deviant than Satan himself. You need to watch what they're doing with your money first off I sent back my cable box in February they never credited it to me until now in fact it's not quite going through, I don't understand what's wrong with them I don't understand what college they come out of and I don't know what kind of practice is they're getting away with but nobody seems to be able to stop them from being crooked. If I sent my box back and only kept cable that means I'm spending close to $49 a month so why would they have used my $150 to lower my bill to $14 I didn't know them anything I paid my bill every single month. Who's running this company again is it somebody out of SingaporeI find it really degrading and quite ridiculous for them to treat us so ignorantly I should have got back that $150 fee after a year and they never gave it back to me now they're telling me they paid a bill I did not owe $150 in April so how could they possibly have taken it towards my bill? All I know is that America is being run now by women mostly white women and nothing's adding up nobody's doing anything everyone wants to stay home and work in their pajamas and they are ripping us off at 10 times the speed of the white American male when he had everything up. 😮 When will the deceiving practices end the Democratic party has brought nothing but moronic idiots in from community college and people with no college to run America and take advantage of us and we're paying six times over for one bill and I don't understand who's running these companies but you can't blame it on the white man anymore.

    Cox just cut the cord for me. They discontinued cable service in my area and forced me on to fiber. Their new Contour "DVR" is not a DVR, it's a streamer with some magic "Cloud DVR" functionality. You can get 2, 6, or 24 "tuners" but the whole thing is 100% dependent on having a solid Internet connection; there are no locally-stored recordings. I went looking for a TiVo OTA DVR but it looks like they are all discontinued and existing stocks are sold out. I've had several TiVo DVRs over the years and they are way better than anything else I've seen, but, . . . I guess it's the end of an era.
