Verizon changed the advertised speeds for c-band but not for mmwave. With Verizon c-band getting more bandwidth, I wonder if those areas will eventually match the speeds of mmwave areas. Also, Spectrum recently raised their standard internet plan to $85 + tax for 300mbps.

This was inevitable. It also makes practical sense. The more people using cellular internet, the higher the price had to go. If Verizon sold it too cheaply, the network would be too congested.

Someone posted they got the new gateway ordered but it required canceling their current line on 5G Home and doing a new one which means they’ll pay more for it now.

If you need that speed, I wouldn't switch. If you can live with 300Mbps, and you would save money by switching, then you can give Verizon 5G a try. Don't cancel xfinity immediately though, just in case there are problems. - Brian

I just sign up earlier this week got the 5g home plus for 3 year guarantee, for $35 a month

It more expensive than my spectrum internet now. I had the 5G home from Verizon and T mobile. The thing with that, its slow and gets a lot of drop off since it’s basically wifi. I just went back to my cable internet

Thanks for sharing. For me, Spectrum was $80/month, so Verizon at $50/month was a big savings. But of course, it has to work properly to be worth it.

That’s true about the asking for the new gateway then they switch your plan

They wouldn’t give the new gateway even though my current gateway is having problems. They ordered the same gateway and for some reason cancelled my plan 🥴. So I have a replacement gateway on the way with a cancelled plan lol. There is no way I’m paying almost the same as my att 1gb plan. I was planning on keeping the Verizon service just mainly for Sunday ticket for the $35 bucks a month for 6 months which would be about $210. It’s would’ve more than half of the price of the Sunday ticket if I were to buy it out right.

Thanks for sharing. Sorry to hear about these problems. Yes, their custom service seems to be lacking, to say the least. It might be that the new gateway will have a new account associated with it, but like you said, not sure if it will be the old or new plan. - Brian

Understand what you are getting with the new gateway. The new gateway gives you access to 5G ulta wideband which has a very short range and most won't benefit from it. The current cube supports 4G and 5G (C-band). Don't cancel your subscription to get the new cube/tower or you will lose your plan with it and price guarantee.

This one doesn't do millimeter and if you have line of sight with lv65 you might can get 1/2 mile range with it.. I can currently get millimeter from a quarter mile away.

I switch to T-Mobile I got better speeds and a lifetime price guarantee for $40 a month.

I can’t believe it’s 100Mbps and 1080p now…Verizon always seems to back track and take things away like 5G UW unlimited phone hotspot speed that was available prior to 2019 and lowering the amount of hotspot data on their top phone plan.

C-Band is also considered UW, which I know VZ isn’t going to offer unlimited priority hotspot.
