Bingo. WNBA has lost more money in the last 25 years than any other sports league by a LONG shot because no one wants to watch it, and the NBA pays all the bills despite the fact they’re ungrateful for the hand out and feel underpaid (guess they didn’t study finance 🤷‍♂️). I mean, I do enjoy the lowlight videos a lot but I’ve had zero interest in actually watching a game. They finally have someone that could actually make the league profitable but the fact that they’re crapping on their golden goose makes me want to continue avoiding it.

She really is bringing an extreme amount of attention to the game. I can’t believe the leagues MVP tweeting stuff out like that. Why embarrass yourself it seems like you’re hating because Nike didn’t give you a contract. That’s not a Nike problem that’s a you problem. You should be thinking damn I’m so good but nobody wants nothing to do with me? That’s what should concern one more not trying to link it to something that’s not there. Clark is obviously bringing more attention to the game I mean heck the preseason game was packed. Indiana got so lucky they have cash cow now the league is one step closer. One step closer to attracting more viewers and more butts in those seats. They are shooting themselves in the foot tweeting out stuff like that. That’s a bad look for the league for sure. I get that you’re amazing at the game but be honest not many people know who the WNBAs MVP is. That should say something about you and your stock, not Clark’s. The players need to rally against this movement it would benefit the league so much. Wilson is not as marketable as her and hill think so. Hill can kick Rocks she’s going to cause more people to not want to watch for sure. I’m surprised nobody in the league is trying to actively stand up for her. When Wemby was coming to the league the guys were happy for a new talent coming and bringing more attention overseas.

Today is the first time I’ve heard of Wilson despite her accolades and being on a best seller list. I’ve been aware of Clark for the last 2 years and Clark hasn’t even played a game in the WNBA yet. Clark’s games will get higher ratings than any other WNBA games in the past.

There are very few things dumber than saying someone deserves a shoe deal. The reason people get shoe deals is because the company believes they can sell their shoes. Popularity is about your style of play as much as anything. Caitlin scores and shoots threes that's exciting to watch. People know who she is and they want to watch her play. None of the greatest WNBA players have managed to bring in as many fans as Caitlin has. Over the next couple years there's going to be some big names that may enter the WNBA that people want to see. Hopefully the lead will grow. Jealousy is a normal emotion, just keep it to yourself. It only makes you look bad

She sells out stadiums……she is a bargain….she could be an institution…….she has signature shot that rivals some NBA players……midcourt 3’s are ridiculous only a few in the NBA can do this. She is the tiger woods of this sport. Who watched golf prior to tiger. We will all follow her, if she does her shot she is legend. She will be unstoppable and will save the WBNA. Not to mention other talent in the WNBA will be recognized.

Some don;t understand basic marketing. If your name isn't in the general conciousness, like 5 out of ten people at least know your name even if they are not big fans of your sport, you are not going to get a big shoe deal.

I had never even heard of Aja Wilson (who is possibly the most accomplished WNBA player in the league) until after I learned about Caitlin Clark. What makes my experience worth anything is that I coach middle school girls basketball. To be fair though, the only WNBA player I had heard of before Caitlin Clark was Brittney Griner, and that was for reasons unrelated to basketball.

There may be more to it, I’ve heard a lot that makes me wonder??? I’m new to the women’s basketball, started watching last year’s women during the conference championships, Kate and Caitlin were a blast to watch along with there teammates, I intend to watch the w now, but if things go the way I’ve understood they will I won’t be watching long, anybody that will knell for the national anthem and disrespect this country’s flag I won’t watch, they are proledged to make 75000- 250000 in 4 months, quite a bit more than the average American!!! Attitude may have something to do with some of these people not getting what they think they should???

Women's college ball is getting more exposure and fans are following the WNBA careers of these women. One commenter said, he's waiting to buy a pair of Clark's shoes for his daughter so I'm sure Nike will sell enough to not lose money on the deal.

  • @brutallyhonest3574

Caitlin Clark deserves the deal because she has an exciting style of play combined with her marketability and college story-line, that was ultimately why she got her deal. She's proven to be a ratings booster, unlike these whiners in the background. Clark is definitely going to increase the amount of fans going to watch her games, at least for the dozen or so games, after that, it'll highly depend on her ability and whether or not her team is willing to work with her to bring their organization to newer heights.
