Can’t play D, no middy, turnover machine… bffr It’s NOT hating to critique someone’s game, especially someone many deem to be the GREATEST. Yall are defending CC better than *5’8 sophomore Raven Johnson* (who held her to 12 points in 3 quarters in the natty)🤣 The only person that can hurt the wnba is CC by not performing as expected. Not some podcast or tv show not even half of the basketball world tunes into.

Players like Caitlin and Steph earned the "shoot from anywhere" green light. There aren't many players with that level of freedom because there aren't that many players with that level of shot-making. I’m an Iowa fan, and it took me two years to figure out why Caitlin is allowed to be so inefficient. The entire Iowa half-court offense ran off the fact that the defense needs to pay attention to Caitlin as soon as she hits half-court. That creates space for everyone else, and when she takes two steps toward the hoop, she draws at least two defenders and then her court vision allows her to find who is open. Basically, if Caitlin throws you a hard pass (rather than just something to move the ball around), she’s decided that your shot is the best one available and you take it - no dribbling allowed. 😆

  • @bellcranel8873

I think Caitlin Clark’s entire body of work as an athlete is a big slap in the face to the entire sport of women’s basketball and all the complaining they have been doing in the past 3 years. To better narrow down my point, Women in the WNBA were literally complaining they don’t get paid the same as men because they are women. Now Caitlin Clark catches fire by actually working hard to be a sensational athlete - and this is exactly what men have been saying the entire time in rebuttal to women complaining. You have to play good to get noticed, getting noticed gets sponsorship and advertising, which gets you more money as an athlete. Diana Taurasi is just salty because in her mind she was sensational and in her opinion a sensational athlete this entire time. I believe Taurasi is a great athlete but she wasn’t transcendently great. Taurasi is like Bill Russell, and Caitlin Clark is like Michael Jordan. We all know Michael Jordan was the man of his era, but Bill Russell has the most championships - despite not many knowing him. Jordan is an entire brand and arguably the goat.

So 3/4th of these women stars before her came into an even less popular WNBA, with no social media. So I don’t understand the jealousy, times have changed, that is all and hindsight is 20-20. Unless you were MJ, Kobe, Bron etc it was entirely different. Not even them got her level of hype because the information about them came only through magazines, TV, newspapers, a few minute news segment, and that was IT.

Her style of play is what makes her so exciting. Her ability to shoot and make 30+ foot threes is what separates her from all the other women that may shoot at a higher % than her. Her play style reminds me a lot of Trae young in college and it’s fair to say he’s adjusted pretty well to the nba. it doesn’t even matter if she’s not better than some players in the WNBA, it’s simply that she is more entertaining than any other women’s player. Since none of the players can dunk the next best thing is someone who can consistently make 30 footers. I think CC could revolutionize the women’s game and have an influence similar to what Steph curry has had on the modern NBA. At the end of the day, Caitlin Clark does NOT need the WNBA, the WNBA needs her. Hoping she will be protected from unfair treatment due to the jealously of these players and have a great career!!

@@Keepingitrealnothating you’re missing the point lol, the WNBA does need her to succeed if they want to be profitable. It’s a simple fact that CC has million dollar offers to play elsewhere and the WNBA is only surviving because the NBA funds it, it has never earned a profit. She’s the biggest star in women’s basketball of all time and people in her own league are hating on her. I get it Diana taurasi is one of the greats and a competitor, but she’s being a straight hater with that Paige comment and other jabs. Why not give the girl her flowers and say I’m excited to compete against her and wish her all the best. These women are jealous that CC is a megastar and has the opportunity to change the women’s game. People like you continue to compare her to other players for some reason, no other player is as exciting as CC and that’s really what matters here. Like I said in my initial comment, the WNBA is not an exciting game to watch, that has been a talking point for years amongst NBA and WNBA players with many even suggesting they should lower the rim. But when you have a girl out there hitting trae young step backs from 30+ feet and knocking them down consistently people are going to start tuning in. Pair that with the fact she’s the greatest women’s college player of all time and has built a massive fan base because of it, it’s fair to say the WNBA does need her in order to grow the game and actually try to be their own stand alone league for once. But hey if the players want to continue flying spirit airlines economy then that’s on them.

@Lidabozz they need anything exciting. If she doesn't pan out they're just gonna call ticky tack fouls to get her the points at the line. She couldn't score against a girl that probably won't even make the wnba. She won't be dominating like she did in college. But the league will try their hardest to help her succeed.

Lexi talking like she’s a better 3 point shooter for a couple a games in the W and at Duke. I’m sure where the defense sagged off on her for wide open shots, Caitlin leads the nation on three’s, points, and assists with basically having the ball in her hands all game and being faceguarded and every opponent knowing they need to stop her and still can’t. Yet, you wanna deduce her game to just a three point shooter, with turnovers, and get only scores bc she shoots 20 three’s. Not bringing up the game or its future at all. Taurasi is right there’s levels to this and no one is on her level.

Like all humans and athletes Clark's personality and game is not perfect but I find her extremely likable, exciting, mature, and driven. I get that despite how great and captivating she is, the publicity she gets can't possibly be in proportion to that since it's so out of control. But, hating someone because of jealousy of the attention she receives (whether you're a player, coach, or fan of an opposing team) is very petty and immature -- it's not her fault that the media and public love her. As for any of the jealous WNBA women who have made snide comments about her (like Diana Taurasi, Breanna Stewart, and Lexie Brown) -- you have made a major mistake -- Clark has Michael Jordan's brain in her and we all know how that turned out for his opponents if he felt even the smallest slight of his abilities. I'd be worried (and would love to see it) that Clark doesn't drop 50 (honestly I'm hoping for 54 and 10's 3's, both would be WNBA records) on them. As for Lexie here is some stats to bring her back to reality: Lexie 3pt% college and pro: .370, .365; Clark .377, so it's not because Clark has a green light to take more shots. So many of the WNBA women are so unlikable -- no wonder their league loses money.
