    The college game is not more exciting than the women's pro game. The fact is, the women's college game is not being compared to the women's pro game and the women's pro game is being compared to the NBA. Women rarely dunk in college. Caitlyn Clark doesn't dunk. But a main complaint of the women's game is they do not dunk. Again, they rarely dunk in college either. And the pros are better, faster and more skilled. The pro women are being compared to rpo men and no one is comparing women college players to UCONN, Duke, Kentucky, Texas, or Ohio State men players. No one compared Clark to Duke's Fillipowski.

    I think gets more views because we under stand the college teams. The rivalries and the storylines. The W is a very young league and a lot of the teams that were integral to the start were wiped out by the recession, so the storylines and the rivalries are not as prominent. That's why the need for player marketing is there and we hope for CC to bring some of her magic dust with her. But a lot of people have this impression that the league isn't hard which then devalues the same college stars they were cheering for a couple weeks ago, when they struggle. What Sheryl and anyone that has played in the W, and even gil, is trying to say is that transition is very real and you don't have a lot of time to make it

  • @olzt100

    @olzt100

    20 күн бұрын

    @@TaiyouArt The problem is not with the WNBA but with US Culture. Sad to say, but the US has three hidden gems that affect society, racism, misogyny and pedophilia. It's all hidden until certain things come out. The pay disparity highlighted the misogyny in US women's sport. It's just the US because some women players go overseas and make four times what they make in the WNBA. But the reality is Clark is watched. But how is she going to change anything just because more people are watching? There are already players in the league much better than her. Because more people are watching will not affect her skill or the skill of other players. The losers of the hype will be people expecting college and high school to be the same as the WNBA. If Clark was this once in a generation talent wouldn't she be on Team USA? None of the professionals that choose the world's most dominant women's team are believing the hype. And what will hurt the women's game is the reality that she is good and has room to grow and not a top five player right out the gate. She is not a top 20 women's player in the world at this time. Her reality is that she is likely the second or third best player on the team now. Last year she was the best player on her team. It's a new level and new ball game, regardless of media and fan appeal.

THE "W" is insane and needs better marketing tired of them complaining and not adjusting their marketing and to the new talent. It's not the 90s anymore. Swoopes already exposed herself as not only displaying conspicuous hate towards Clark and her accomplishments, but also not even really being knowledgeable about Clark and spewing misinformation about her game, leading me to question how much she actually pays attention to women's college ball and how much time she puts into her "job". Remember her saying she was a fifth-year, 25-year-old when she was actually in her fourth year and only 22? How about her implying Clark was a chucker, putting up "40 shots a game" when in actuality she attempted less shots per game than Swoopes herself did in college? “If Kelsey Plum set that record in four years, well, Caitlin should’ve broke that record in four years. But because there’s a COVID year, and then there’s another year, you know what I mean? So she’s already had an extra year to break that record. So, is it truly a broken record? I don’t know. I don’t think so. But yeah, that’ll go in the record books. And, I don’t think it should be.” - Sheryl Swoopes........sounding uninformed as a mfer and hating.

    @@benbackpack9922I want to see angel reese' and all the other rookies play their first game this year as I have a feeling the veterans aren't going to go as hard on the rest of them as they will on Caitlin Clark. I could be wrong but I don't think I am. Seriously, from watching the Indiana Fever vs the Connecticut Suns the other day, it felt like the suns were treating that game like a championship game honestly. I may not know as much as about basketball as any of the people in the video obviously, but I can tell the difference when players are playing for a title vs playing a regular game in the season or a meaningless exhibition game. Unless you're Kobe Bryant or Michael Jordan, most players don't play with the type of championship caliber urgency the way the Connecticut suns did the other day against the Indiana Fever, especially when you consider the fact that the fever aren't one of the top teams in the league. Unless you want to tell me that everyone on the suns have a Michael Jordan mentality of even taking meaningless exhibition games serious, I think they were trying to send a message to Caitlin and the world it seems. That's why I want to see the first game of all the rookies in the wnba or at least some others besides Caitlin because I want to see if my theory is correct or not.

    @benbackpack9922 exactly. Plus, notice how all the Wnba veterans are quick to praise angel reese and the other rookies. Meanwhile, with Caitlin, it's backhanded compliments, it seems. Again I doubt seriously the suns would play like that against anyone during the regular season, especially, against a team they know isn't on their level because they wouldn't want to risk injuries playing too hard against a team they know they can beat unless they were trying to send a message. The New York Liberty didn't seem as physical, but they still played that Indiana road game like it was a playoff game. Honestly, I'm worried about this destroying caitlins confidence because I know she's better than how she's been playing recently. Her teammates aren't helping her get open shots by not setting screens or getting open themselves while dropping passes directly to them. It's ridiculous. It makes me wonder if she has two face teammates that are trying to sabotage her, or her coach is that incompetent to prepare her team for this.

    Clark is over hyped!!!!! She was shut down single handedly by one Raven Johnson, so what people are upset about is how a 2-time undefeated SC team. Too many people did not realize SC was undefeated because of an individual. Swoopes was on a team with Super Cooper (I think the oldest player at the time in the WNBA), Thompson (She was still in college) and the three of them won 4 straight (Micheal Jordan 3 straight). Clark scored most points in NCAA history both male/ female. Lebron score most in NBA history. He's not the goat, but Clark is??? This is where the confusion comes in. She is the goat for scoring (a low bar) but all these other women before her had to be the first option on the team, win some championships finals/ conference, be an MVP, and are expected to do that each year (a high moving bar). Go watch Swoopes put up 47 pts. in a NCAA championship game. Her Texas Tech. vs Ohio St. 84-82 remember she scored 47 pts. That's 37 pts. for the rest of the team. If that's not GOAT worthy 🤷‍♂ I hope to God this works out for the WNBA. Imagine females rocking Reese's, CC's, AJ's, or Cardoso's sneakers and jersey's, heck they might bring back the jersey dresses from the 2000's. 🤣🤣🤣

She did damage with the short amount of time she was in the last preseason game. Two steals & layup in under 5 minutes. Sherrod is a great defender while at Colorado, and to cut her from the team? Really? I’m sure the New York Liberty had their reasons, whatever they may be. Way to go S.S. You were on point.❤️

    The average age in the WNBA is 27yo. The average age in the NBA is 26. The issue is there are way more roster spots in the NBA and they allow players 19 & up. The WNBA on the other hand requires American players to be 22 & up EXCEPT foreign player who only have to be 20. The BIGGEST problem with the WNBA is that they really don’t want to develop rookies. They’d prefer that, unless you’re a unicorn, that you take your butt overseas for a few years, develop your game there, then come back when you’re ready. This is why they allow younger foreign players. They’re allowed to go pro so young that they come to training camp ready to go.

    Best idea I've heard so far. Have a normal team roster and 1-2 redshirt draft spots. Throwing players to the wolves 2 weeks after college is silly. You also can't compare Euro players to normal college kids, they've been playing against pros for years at this point. It's not just strength, but learning the veteran tricks gonna be used against you. I'd also bet Clark has a massive target on her back due to all her publicity and there are going to be a ton of salty old timers in the wnba who are going to want to teach her a lesson.
