I’ve written four novels, and a few plays-primarily in coffee shops or bakeries. For so many years I wanted my own private space, and now that I have it, I barely use it. The walk to the shop, the ambiance, the people drifting in and out have added a layer of creativity I can’t go without. I thought I was just being a bit selfish. Thanks to your video, I now know that there’s damn good reasons for heading to the shop. Great work! Love your vids. Keep it up, doc.

Being an introvert, I hate coffee shops. Where I live, the acoustics seem to be designed to make them louder and therefore seem busier than they are. I have found a couple of other things that do work for me though. One of them is listening to music while I’m working. Also another way of experiencing something different can be as simple as changing the route when you go for a walk. I’m big on walks, getting out in the elements, looking around and massaging our second brain (the calf muscles). I always seem to come up with ideas and solutions when I’m on a walk and the stress just melts away.

I've started to listen to music more, it is a good way of getting those 70dB, I still find it distracting sometimes though because I start singing or humming along🤣

Hi Jack, thanks for the fresh neuroscience! I already am producitive person (University Student), moreover I definitely see Adam Grant's words on procrastination, when I have no-procrastination, I think I was more productive , by work-count or how many things I completed. Can not say the same with creativity, I lack on using different words and being imaginitive as I wanted to be. In other words: having no-procrastination surrounds me with a wall of stress and tension. I am not going to experiment myself studying in Coffee Shop (because the year's over :) completed all my lessons for this year). It is quite sensible that, sitting next to successfull people sparks your will to work, do, study, create. I agree on that. Secondly, I think being in a place surround by people living, talking, sitting, reminds our brain that we should start on whatever we want, sitting in home does not include motivators, when we see, hear people we remember our work as human-beings. It is an indicator, I guess. Thank you for this video, to a level I am interested in neuroscience, related to my field It helps me understand how human-beings learn and interact with the world. Take care!

I go to a coffee shop if I want to read a book. When I'm at home alone, I'm so distracted. Lol
