I LOVED this show. I love history so a humorous show about solving issues that happened to historical figures was right up my alley. The show a funny Tuddrussel and Larry’s interactions were just gold, they were just like the odd couple, both trying to do their job but having little idea how to best to do it often times just barely got by. Otto was good too, him being and orphan made him a little sympathetic and he was very knowledgeable about the historical figures that he, Tuddrussel and Larry had to help but was still a little kid who could get over excited. I liked the pair of Sheila and XJ5 who are just better then Tuddrussel and Larry in every way the historical figures they ran into were great, yeah, the situations they were in usually made no sense, but it IS a comedy show so I give them a pass on that one. If this show was someone into to history and its figures, and it made them want to study it more than that’s fantastic. I think this show was the first to tell me that Julius Caesar and Cleopatra were lovers (ok they use boy friend and girlfriend but it’s the same thing) I wish that the show did better, but I guess it humor didn’t appeal to enough viewers and even I have to admit that a show based on solving humorous and nonexistent problems in history will have a pretty limited audience. While it’s not any “ending” for the show nor can I think of one, I always liked the idea that Otto was eventually sent to the academy and became an official time cop

Huge nostalgia blast just from looking at the thumbnail. I specifically remember this show being the first time I learned how short Napoleon actually was. As for Bush’s portrayal, I’d say that episode was more so a victim of the times. So many shows did the “haha Bush is dumb and childish” joke from 2000-2008 in the same way late night shows can’t stop talking about Trump in modern day. It was easy jabs at a president (Bush) who, to put as nicely as possible, wasn’t historically the best public speaker or policy decision maker. If a kid’s cartoon tried to do this now, politicians wouldn’t accept it, and to me that’s kinda sad. Everything should be allowed to be made fun of; besides, the kids didn’t get any of it, nor did they care to.

I remember this show because whenever I got asked which cartoons I liked in CN at the time, I always said Foster's Mansion, Billy&Mandy and Time Squad, after that last one, everyone gave me "The Look™" since it was a show that came up late at night and I was one of those kids who worked until late to have all my HW finished, not many kids got to see it, whenever TP showed up on TV, I knew it was time to rest or just take a small break to watch it and continue. Two episodes stick out to me. The first is when Confucius was writing novels of advice instead of keeping it small but precise, and Buck just kept beating the shit out of him. Buck however never explained why so Confucius just kept making larger and larger stories stories, thinking that the reason he was being beat up was because he wasn't writing enough. The second episode was when Edgar Allen Poe was inexplicably joyful and happy and obsessed with all things pink and cheerful. The team would go through everything to make Poe's life seem miserable, making accidents happen or reminding him of all the hardships he's faced, but Poe's optimism was just far too fortified to waver. That was until Larry began to critique Edgar's way of life, commenting condescendingly on the house, the clothes, the decor, slowly wearing Edgar down until Otto sheepishly requested milk for cake that was just a little dry. That is what somehow made Poe snap and switch him to the miserable poet of despair he's known to be.

I’m currently rewatching Time Squad and I just finished rewatching the first season from Eli Whitney to The McCoys and Hatfields, and I’m currently taking notes on all of the historical events and figures that appeared, since the subject of history is not something I’m good at, and I’ve never been so interested in it until I watched Time Squad. It’s such a shame that the show ended so short, it deserved at least one more season. I just wish we could’ve learned about what happened to Otto’s parents and how he became an orphan.

Time Squad reminded me of another time travel show I watched way back in the 1980's called Voyagers!. The explanation mark is part of the title. There was a time traveler that used a stopwatch looking thing to travel through time. He wasn't very smart when it came to history. He wound up taking an orphan with him on his time travel journeys that actually knew history. The stopwatch thing was also a little broken too. The show only ran one season, about 20 episodes in total. I'd like to think the creators of Time Squad were somewhat inspired by that show, or maybe it's just a coincidence.

I think about the "and bacon is good for your heart" bit in the intro way more often then I should. I actually forgot where it came from it almost became like a weird mental tick for me whenever I thought about bacon and how bad it is for you haha. Thanks for taking me back Jordan!

What are the odds? I just found your channel a few days ago and then you drop this on what is probably my favorite show from cartoon network. I remember how I enjoyed the chemistry between the characters and the small history lessons as I am still quite a history nerd. For some reason I mainly remember the one with George Washington and Benedict Arnold, but I think it's time for a rewatch! Thank you and please keep up the good work! It's so nice to be reminded of these old shows!

My family has a Time Squad marathon recorded on VHS, and its probably the only reason I even know about the show. I should pull that out and watch it again, see if it still holds up.

I used to watch this show, but I don't really remember anything about it other than what the characters look like. Very nostalgic for it though! I love hearing about the Cartoon Network "Cartoon Cartoon" show. They were a big part of my childhood, like many others. Thanks for covering so many of them! And great video as always 😄

I need to rewatch this show! I was very young when this was airing, so a lot of episodes were actually my introduction to quite a few historical figures and events haha

Oh wow, I totally forgot about this show. It was great, yet short lived. It was awesome seeing Mark Hamil do his interpretation of C3PO, he's such an amazing voice actor, I remember watching this show and then KND which he also voiced Sticky Beard and being in awe of his range.

If I recall correctly, there were a lot of digs at Bush around that time. Off the top of my head, there was Lil Bush on Comedy Central and Fairly Oddparents had a jab at him too. "I'm goin' to Escalator Land!!"

Time squad is one of those shows I remember only catching it on maybe a handful of times, but ever time I did manage to catch it I loved it.I really wish they had aired this show more. It deserved it for sure!

I loved this show as a kid. The Edgar Allen Poe episode was a favorite of mine because I was a huge history buff at the time and did a recent assignment in school about him. Even used this episode in my work as a bit of fluff but managed to get bonus points for making my teacher laugh. Good times.

This is still one of my favorite shows from back in the day when creativity was allowed to thrive in cartoons. Now in my 30s, I still regularly quote this show, but no one catches any references because of how forgotten it became. I picked up a bootleg copy of the series at a convention about a decade ago now to the point where it even still has old Cartoon Network promo ads while the credits are rolling. Pure gold!

Yes I most definitely do remember it. It, along with Mike Lou and Og are two of CNs shows that flew under the radar in the early 00s during that golden age of the channel.

I am glad you reminded us about the show. Small as it was, it was a animated show that fit the bill of a Cartoon back in the Golden Age of Cartoon Network. The show's pace and jokes were done right and even today as a Adult I laugh at some of the wacky scenarios. However I would like to add, I hope no body touches the show again because this is something that has aged well and should not be remade.
