Visiting A Village At The Thailand/Malaysia Border
Thailand/Malaysia Border - How Is Life Like In A Border Village? Exploring Padang Besar
Border towns are fascinating! Today we are visiting Padang Besar, which is a small village right on the border between Thailand and Malaysia in southern Thailand. Actually, the village is separated by the border. I’ve visited Pedang Besar already about 5 months ago, on the Malaysian side. Now it’s time to check out the Thailand side of this small town here in the songkhla state in Thailand. How is life like in a border village right on the border between Thailand/Malaysia? That’s what we are going to find out today. So, feel free to join the tour today, around Pedang Besar, the small village that is separated by the border between Thailand and Malaysia.
Could you image living in a town that is separated by an international border? Let me know in the comments ⬇️

I am Ken Abroad, a full-time traveler traveling southeast Asia, currently living in Thailand, making Thailand travel vlogs. It is my goal here on this channel to visit every country in southeast Asia and bring you along the journey.
You won’t see much tourist places in my videos, I rather like to show the “real” sides of each country in my videos. Where do the local people go to eat? Where do they hang out? How do the locals travel through the country? Stuff like that.
There will be almost daily uploads on this channel, during the next months from Bangkok and Thailand. I will be traveling Thailand, showing you around local places in Bangkok or try lots of different Thai food. Join the journey if you are interested in experiencing Bangkok now and Thailand 2021 from a more authentic local point of view.

Hi Ken. I also have an interest in international borders. You might be familiar with the various borders your own country shares. I'm in France and I quite like the tri- point near Aachen (Dreiländereck near Vaals). It's the tripoint of Belgium, Nederland and Deutschland. Also, the tri-point of Basel (CH, D, FR). And the friendship pedestrian bridge linking Strasbourg and Kehl
Oooh this video brings back memories :D

Great that you all managed to get to Padang Besar, on the Thai side> Looks like someone lost their pants trying to escape either Malaysia or Thailand. Fresh pineapple is one of my favourites. Nothing like back home. Sometimes we put a little salt on, sounds strange but makes it taste sweeter. Same with starfruit. The variety of fruits and vegatables is amazing.

Hi Ken and friends 👋 how awesome watching Malaysia behind the high fence , I’m sure the guy has been to Malaysia there must be some miscommunication...not during the pandemic I guess 😅 I’ve been to Padang Besar few times you know Malaysian women go there to buy pots and pans all kinds of local products mostly kitchenware really cheap 👍🏻 not sure if there’s a bus service , maybe you could get taxi , van taxi or grab car to go to Hatyai , stay safe Ken 😊

Normally the Muslim at the border town on the Thai side can speak Malay. Before Covid, there are all sorts of food and drinks just like what you are experiencing it at Perlis border town previously. During Covid now, a lot of shops and small food stalls are closed.

Itulah pasal , semua makanan nak ditranslate ke Malaysia . Maksud sy dia macam nak belajar tentang Malaysia lah . apabila dia tahu sesuatu perkara berkenaan dgn Malaysia , dia tak mudah ditipu kat luar nanti . Faham2 lah , kadang ade org yg jenis suka ambek kesempatan dgn pelancong . Pelancong klu dah tahu dia ditipu , lain kali susah dahlah nak jumpa pelancong . Hahhaha
Fresh fruit..nice.. most of Thai fruits are very sweet..
Great that you still can remember so many Malay words/ phrases. Guess the uncle who offered you pineapples couldn't understand when you asked him about the eligible age to ride a motorbike. It couldn't be 3 years old. It's illegal for that boy. We do have very young boys/ girls riding on them especially in the kampung.

FYI, the Thai province of Satun is part of Kedah state once before, they are separated by British in 1909 with Bangkok Treaty 1909, and that's why they are sharing of similarity in term of culture, religion and linguistic.
Hey 👋🏽, welcome back all of you guys ….😃
I'm from Perlis, Malaysia, about 35km to Padang Besar border. I used to go there very often since it's not far away from my hometown. I love the street foods there, as we frequently visit it during Ramadan looking for foods for iftar. What i miss the most is Thai 7eleven. Many great stuff and foods are there. Almost 2 years since the last time I crossed the border. Every day, I wait for the border to reopen again. Thailand is my second country.
Thanks for sharing
I think what the guy meant earlier in the video is that he can't go to Malaysia nowadays, its hard to believe he never went to Malaysia when he is living in a border town.... and also, try speaking to him in Malay... i bet he understands.
