THIS IS EXACTLY WHAT I AM LOOKING FOR IN A CHANNEL!!! I LOVE VINTAGE THINGS!!!!!!!!!!!

JetPens in the USA has lots of vintage lead sizes. My mother has a propelling pencil (as you call it!) that used to be her mother's, and we were able to buy replacement leads for it. She's very happy that she can use it everyday now as a memento of her mom.

That's lovely! The only leads I am stuck buying for is my Fend Super Norma type ones. There is only one seller in the US I have found, but I'm in the UK so shipping bumps the price up. Here's hoping I find some on ebay one day!

I've tried to find some in the past, but no luck. In my area there are so many antique shops too. Maybe soon!

Hi Sarah, it did have some good colours in it - although too many yellows! Hehe! I was missing a red and blue so had to get some vintage ones on eBay to expand the colour range. Glad you liked the illustration, although I can't really take the credit for the illustrations as I was mostly copying from sources on Pinterest - old illustrations. I changed the clothes a bit of the girl in the second one, and had her carry a notepad instead of whatever it was she had in the original pic. Love the style though and would like to get good at it!

A friend gave me a vintage never been used art kit 😍.

I loved the pencils. I've never seen pencils like that. That tin was such a great find.

It was the perfect exercise for trying out the watercolours as I struggled to think up my own illustration.

that's a great find! I remember those lead pens and the watercolour pallette is fabulous!

So when you got the black tin box, there were already watercolor pans in them ? If there were then I find that amazing for a vintage item. 🙂❤️

That' correct! There were about 7 pans in there already. Too many yellows though - first I added some of my Winsor and Newton pro watercolours to fill the gaps, then later (after this video was shot) I bought a few extra vintage watercolour pans off eBay and added those to the tin. Now my tin contains only vintage pans. Had quite a lot of success with the vintage pans, except for one blue colour (eBay one) not working very well at all - colour was very weak. All in all though, good stuff!

I think that is a silverpoint pencil that you have. You draw on special paper with the metal.

I'm not convinced, as it has a hole for the lead and we have seen diagrams of the mechanics of similar mechanical pencils. Hope I can fix it one day!

Do you know where can I buy those watercolor pans? To fill them by myself and put them in tin boxes... Btw I cannot imagine the feeling of writing with a pen with such a big history, the initials of the old owner on it... Awww Great vid :3

Hi Alai, yes you're right the history of it makes it feel special to write/draw with! You can get empty pans in art shops online, and often they can be found on eBay too. You can use all sorts of items if making your own palette though, such as bottle tops or lego bricks with the middle bit snipped out with nail clippers.

Hobby Lobby only sell new items, not vintage ones. To find old items you have to look in thrift stores and garage sales and antiques stores.
