I'm a total tree hugger, so I love that you use cotton paper for your finished work. I'm an aspiring watercolorist, and you are in my top 5 biggest inspirations of all time. Thank you.

I have a few of my dad's old Spectracolor pencils and I also read they were the brand that predates Prismacolor. I have also been really interested in checking out that dustfree eraser...may have to pick one up soon!

The perfect last 12 min of my treadmill walking 💁🏻 I loved seeing your art supplies. I'm currently feeling overwhelmed bc I have so many that I haven't even touched yet and at this point it's almost as if I've developed a fear of trying them 😶

pigknit I know what ya mean, that's why I've been trying to simplify things by sticking to watercolor... I did just get some canvases at a big sale, so maybe before the end of the year I'll get back into acrylics or oils? It's only been like 2 decades since I last touched those things 😋

Studio Jess I'm definitely intimidated by watercolor so at least you've got that down 👍🏻 p.s. I'm working with a client this week who is such a pain in the a$$ I can't even. I am essentially a drawing machine to him. Kill me now.

For masking fluid: try lathering a brush onto a bar of soap before using it for masking fluid! Once dry the masking fluid will just peel off the brush hairs :D No mess :)

Nicely made video. The "rubber tipped things" are color shapers, silicone ends usually used for shaping clay (e.g. Polymer), blending pastels (oil or soft), and in painting (e.g. Acrylic).

At first I thought oh holy hell well she has the holbein gouache but honestly, you have a nicely balanced inventory of things that are expensive for good reason and other things that are cheap because they don't have to be high end. Really liked this video Also wanted to add that my present self wishes my past self had rather invested some more money in my starting supplies (like my cheap watercolor palette and crappy pulp nightmare paper) because essentially that money was wasted. Quality definitely > quantity. I don't extremely regret the masters touch 48 ct watercolor set I got at hobby lobby for around 20 bucks too badly, I think it was what kicked off my watercolor obsession but I would prefer if I had just at least started with sakura or cotman but oh well. Also, had I known about jacksons before setting out for hobby lobby, I would have actually saved money. Paper the same.... if you see a $4 watercolor pad that's 17x11.... it's not good. Keep walking. Be smart. Buy at the very very least strathmore, better yet fluid 100 which I think isn't any more expensive and is 100% cotton. Be smart. Don't be like past me 😂 Don't be so fricken frugal it comes back to bite you and you end up spending more overall

Thank you for sharing your art supplies! I enjoyed watching. Regarding stretching watercolor paper, have you tried the traditional way? It is the best by far. Have a board handy for mounting (like a piece of pressboard - can get at Home Depot cheaply) bigger than the paper size by a few inches all around. Wet both sides of paper well - you can use a sponge or dip it in water but it should be completely wet. Stick the paper to the board. Use gummed tape all around (wet lightly with sponge or ceramic tongue). Here is my affiliate link to some so you can see what I'm talking about. I usually use the thicker version to help avoid buckling while drying. amzn.to/2Hfm86B Let the paper dry completely before painting. It should not buckle at all while painting. Once dry you can it pull off the board, then trim down the sides. If you want a border, use another tape (like a light tack painter's tape) inside the gummed tape.

You're welcome! I'm rather lazy about it too but when I do it, I'm always pleased... I'm going to have to resolve to do more paper stretching in the future. :-) (I noticed I commented a year ago... KZread is not tracking my watched videos for some reason, so I watched again but at least maybe it will help you.)

you just helped solve a mystery for me! I have had my Design Watercolor Pencils since 95 and i love them but have no idea who really made them or what their current equivalent would be. when i saw your comment on the colored pencils and the Design name on them i gasped! I have been trying to hunt this info down for about a month now on the daily, so i am pleased to have added the info from this video to my google searches and found this article and website: artpencilsrare.wordpress.com/2014/11/02/history-of-prismacolor-artist-grade-pencils/ Thank you!
