    Excellent video - this should be required viewing for anyone starting out on Endmyopia-style methods! Some hard-won wisdom and refreshing humility in there. The two tips are really spot on and excellently articulated. Before I recently discovered EM, I had been blur adapted for TEN YEARS, to the point of thinking that my prescription was 2D lower than it really was (even though I had initially achieved 1.25 of legit improvement over where I started from). It can really fool you (again and again if you're not careful) and it can take a long time to undo. My tip is basically- be VERY strict with your prescription calculation! If you're doing it using the "cm to blur" method, do it in fairly low artificial light indoors (but not in the dark as some optometrists do) and be totally honest with the results (though if you're blur adapted it becomes hard to be accurate, a double whammy/downward spiral!). You'll still get plenty of outdoor active focus opportunities at only 0.25 under this; you just need to realise that you can make everything beyond 4m sharper, even if you can already see it OK (e.g. you can make the whole scene seem more "three dimensional" when there are objects of varying distances in view and you do some active focus on one of them, then another etc.) People (e.g. me until recently) can think things like "I can get perfect clarity without lenses at 50cm in natural light on a sunny day [probably with active focus], therefore my full prescription is probably -2D"- WRONG!! Especially wrong if you live in Northern Europe and it's winter. Even going 0.25 too far undercorrected can mess things up. Your vision should never be uncomfortable or annoying or completely inconsistent or a struggle to clear - as you say, the normalised should only be the difference between "1 or 2, 1 or 2" etc. TLDR - Blur adaptation is a thing, try to avoid it. Watch this vid.

    5:00 You and Jake have my total support. Here are my thoughts. Wise Self Measurement. I hope you allow a difference of opinion, on Personal Eye Chart Visual Acuity Testing. 1) I totally distrust OD measurements. 2) By reading 20/60, and 20/40, on my Snellen, I confirm I pass the required DMV test, at home. 3) Once I confirm that level of vision, I quit wearing a minus lens. 4) I know Jake does not like the idea, but I begin wearing a Plus Lens, like Todd Becker, for all close work, and continue, untill eventually, I get into the 20/30, to 20/15 range. 5) To be safe, I also measure my own refraction. It saves me a massive amount of money. I also gain the expertise of doing it myself.

    I like your videos a lot. I see you haven’t updated in over a year 😂. From the KZread videos I’ve seen people seem to make some gains but then it plateaus. It would be nice to see someone who went from really nearsighted like -3.00 down to 20/20 but maybe that’s too good. I guess I’m not sold on why you should only decrease by 0.25. I’m waiting for my first “normalized” glasses to come in the mail but I got some readers that might give me 20/50 or so vision in the distance and I actually like wearing them for shopping. There is a lot of blur, especially at night or indoors but I can also find something to focus on to challenge myself. To be honest I don’t know if I active focus or not though. Anyway, I subscribed if you put another video out I’ll be looking forward to it.

    What do you say, i have made a big mistake? Making differetials prescribtion I substracted only 1 diopter from normalized glasses prescribtion and left 0,5 cylinder correction. I made it to see screen clearly at the distance of stretched hand ~60 cm. It is a deal or no?

  • @arnabdc
    @arnabdc3 жыл бұрын

    I would say, for normalized wear the correction which makes you things at 20/20 look just bit less crisp. That is a good balance between being practical and the perfect stimulus for your eyes to chase.

    Ok so I reduced too quickly now what? Am I guaranteed to never see results? I’m fine if it takes a little bit longer I just don’t want to spend the money to get a slightly pair of stronger glasses. I’ve heard stories of people going from -3 to nothing and eventually they still get to perfect vision. Is this true? If I were to just completely ditch glasses would I get there eventually maybe it will just take longer?
