Tilley LTM6 AirFlo Hat Review: I love this hat.

Музыка

In this video, I review the Tilley LTM6 AirFlo Hat. It's my first Tilley product and I've been very satisfied with it thus far. I highly recommend the hat. The hat is very comfortable, breathable, durable, and it absolutely lives up to the Tilley brand name. Product links:

I just bought this same hat and color. Love the hat! Main reason I bought it was was everyone says it's made in Canada or USA... Well sadly to discover these hats are now made in China! I almost returned it for that reason alone! But decided to keep it. I'd rather pay $125 if it was made in Canada or USA. These company's and their greed will eventually be their demise!

I found that on the Tilley straps, its best to put the front strap just below the front forehead band on your forehead skin. Work all the excess strap to the rear side of the hat. Place it just under the crown of your skull in the rear of your head. Separate the two knots on the rear strap, taking up all the excess strap till its snug against your skull. In that position its so secure you can't even pull the hat off yourself. Let alone the wind blowing it off. And there's nothing under your chin. Give it a try. Its not hard to do, and you will find it quite comfortable , and secured in place. I wear all my Tilley hats that way. Good Luck. You'll love it

The back strap should be snug on back of head, the front snug below chin. They are made like that for windy conditions. When not windy, many stuff them on top and put on hat.

I have to agree with you on this Tilley airflow hat. I have had one Ltm6 for quite a few years now & love it. Jeff Reid Myrtle Beach SC

I have the LTM8, which is similar but has a much larger area of mesh. I love the hat - it's very comfortable, durable, provides great sun protection while giving me great air flow.

Man. Now i'm really tempted to buy one. I already have a straw hat from Stetson, but i can't use that one in rainy weather. So i'm looking for something more "all around" for my travels. This hat looks great. I like how sleek it looks. Not too crazy and cowboy like. It's like a mixture of a fedora and a bucket hat.

I have the same hat, but the straps are a bit annoying. I've found that stuffing the front strap into the velcro pocket at the top gets it out of the way and I put the back strap snuggly against the back of my head (kind of like the way a state trooper wears a hat). This keeps the hat on when it's windy and you don't see either one when you're wearing it. I suppose if it's REALLY windy, I could always go with the strap under my chin, but I find that I really don't need it in the Northeast US.

I just bought a Tilley LTM6 Airflo (size 8 and olive color) yesterday and I will say despite this particular model with the outrage of many Tilley die hards is Made in China, the quality here is still worth paying for. I don’t understand why EVERYTHING Made in China gets a bad wrap. They are made to standards that Tilley demands from their products. I did register my hat for the lifetime guarantee so I have no doubt this hat will last years. Plus since wearing it, I have gotten many compliments and took a nap in the hot sun with it over my face and did not get my skin compromised by the sun and it’s rays. Beauty! They have plenty of other models that are Made in Canada to check out if one wants to go that route. I’m curious about the T3 Cotton duck hat. Thank you for your review!

I have 5 Tilleys. My daughter's are getting me a paddlers hat for Father's Day for my 6th hat. I have a T3 duck hat. It has a very different feel than the LTM6, but you won't be disappointed!

There's a few reasons. For one, they still cost as much; if you're gonna outsource manufacturing the customer should save little money. For another, I have had an LTM6 for over 10 years and would be disappointed if I got one (wherever made) that was inferior to my original. In addition, there have been complaints that the new ones don't fit the same as the old ones.My old one still does the job but I'd like to add one or 2 more - so yes at the high price point it is reasonable to question the change in manufacturing location.

How tight a fit is it when you place two fingers between the hat and the forehead? I today tried one on and the fit was tight. They did not have any larger ones handy.

I have had two of these, both failures. The brim loses its shape becoming so wavy you can’t even see past the drooping brim. Tilley replaced one of them and I chose a different model. The other I don’t bother wearing. I have nearly 40 years experience with Tilley hats and this one is the only model that is a failure. They don’t even make the original cotton canvas model sailing hat that started the Tilley company. I bought mine in 1986 and Tilley replaced it twice. It now has major patches I sewed on holes, trying to preserve it since they no longer make it. My Tilley replacement for the failed Airflo was made in China, no longer Canada.

Can anyone attest to the actual breathability of this hat? I commonly wear baseball style hats when outdoors and it’s also not uncommon for me to sweat profusely while hiking etc. I eventually permanently stain the hat, so much so it nearly changed colors. However, I have recently purchased a Melin hat which tends to run a little “hot” but with any sweat and a quick wash, looks like new (would highly recommend). I’d like to find a hat like this that offers sun coverage but do not want to sacrifice breathability. Thank you in advance!
