Tilley LTM6 vs Redhead 10-Point Vented Hat

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

I compare the Tilley LTM6 (Blue Spruce) to a Redhead 10-Point Vented Hat (XL olive)

Your Redhead is polyester, actually a polyethylene. The Tilley LTM6 is nylon. As a chemist I must tell you they are not the same. Nylon is more expensive to produce. Nylon lasts longer. It is more durable and abrasion resistant. That’s why it is used in carpets, outdoor gear, sleeping bags, tents, and parachutes, even seat belts. The Tilley hat has a lifetime warranty and I recently replaced my Airflo LTM3 after 20 years. Of course, you can buy 3-4 Redheads for the same price, so it’s just a matter of preference. I appreciate your video. And I do like your Redhead too.

Interesting 🧐. I wasn’t aware of that difference. Perhaps that is worth some coin to some folks!

When I saw the title of your video, I thought it would be about how well a Tilley hat worked for a fair-skinned redhead (which I am) and instead it was a brand comparison. You just saved me about 60 bucks. Thank you!

I went to Bass Pro to by a hat. They didn't have many in stock. I compared the same two hats you have you reviewed. I knew nothing about these types of hats. After finding out the cost of the Tilley ($99.00) I knew that was not an option. Nice hat but too pricey. The Redhead was one of maybe 8 hats of the same brand and style but different sizes. The one I ended up with is 7 5/8, fit my head perfectly. For $29.99 I pleased to pick it up. Your review is spot on. By the way, all the Tilley hats I looked at were all made in China.

    I just bought a Tilley hat about a week ago . It's a hat made in Canada ( new old stock ) . I gave just under $50 delivered . I think it's a great deal .

The advantage I found with Tilley is the wide range of sizes to dial in that custom fit for me. Tilley has the lifetime warranty that they actually honor. Of course you pay for it. As always it is great to have options. BTW my Tilley was made in Canada not China

End of the lace is called an aglet, there is a difference which is very obvious and that is the dimensions of the brim along the sides.

A solid chunk of them are still made in Canada. I have a t3 wanderer and an outback that are both still made in CA. I don't think they're overpriced, but I also didn't pay full price for either. 90-100 is a tough pill to swallow for a hat, even if it does last forever

Yes I have it as well and love it. Not as good for travel as it doesn’t crush but it is my preferred style hat in the summer.

Looks like they no longer sell this knock-off model. Wonder if Tilley legal had a chat with Redhead/Cabela's...?

Great just wore it on a 4 day trip in the Keweenaw. It’s like new yet, I’ve used it camping, fishing, stuffed in suitcases and shape is still perfect.
