I have my LTM6 Tilley hat for over 12 years, it's seen better days. The edges of the brim is weathered and torn in different areas ect. Still serving it's function though. Got a new one to replace my other damaged hat

I went to the Tilley website - those hats are pricey - but great quality. I have a fake knockoff from Walmart... I've also had it for almost 20 years. I've washed it many times and the brim is floppy but I still like and use it.

Thank you for the comment. Yes, much less expensive hats available. I'm a designer, Alex is a designer, I like the story behind the hat and that I'm supporting a fellow craftsman.

Well, I got an invoice for $20 shipping and handling which I paid so I should be seeing the replacement hat soon. I would say that's a pretty good guarantee...what say you?

Tilley just replaced my 20 yr old Airflo LTM3 that tore in the exact same place as yours. My wife had sewed it up a couple times. Yes, I submitted photos of the damage. They noted the damage and then verified there was a replacement available for shipping. Then you cut the top out and send the photo. They even warn you NOT to destroy the hat until you receive their email that the replacement model you requested is available. I wanted the exact same hat and that is what I got. Even though the new one was made in China it is exactly the same. Same large Velcro pocket with foam insert, same brass snaps with maple leafs, same mesh air vents, nylon. Same construction and quality. All you have to do is follow their instructions. Get your new Tilley.

The same hat with a maple leaf, only Chinese. Tilley is just way overpriced clothing and hats now, trading on its faded image when it really used to be something. I have a number of Tilley hats but I'd never deal with them again.

I have a gorilla step from Home Depot that has a lifetime guarantee they made me do the same thing. The problem was it was still half usable and I had to go without for about 2 weeks. I use it to get in and out of the van so it wasn't very convenient

I don't know what happened to Alex Tilley, whether he died or he sold the company, but he seems to be completely out of the picture now. The corporation has become souless now and is the same as any other now. They destroyed the culture and the sense of belonging nd community that Tilley hats used to foster, especially encouraging other hat owners to acknowledge each other. Tilley never used to insist that someone show proof of the destruction of a very loved item of headwear to obtain a replacement, merely show evidence of the damage. Welcome to corporate Canada.
