I discovered Tilley about 20 years ago. They are the best outdoor hat that I've ever heard of. I love the story about the elephant keeper who had his hat swallowed by one of his charges -- a few days later he got it back and continued to use it. Great hat!

I first saw this video about a year ago. Purchased my first Tilly shortly after. I love these hats and look forward to wearing them in every opportunity I can. Thanks for introducing me to such a fantastic product.

My wife and I bought ours almost 20 years ago now. We were trying on hats to wear while hiking. After rejecting hat after hat in the store because they just didn't "feel right" I put on a Tilley hat and breathed out an audible ahhhh. My wife looked at me wondering what was happening, so I handed her one. We were both hooked. We both wear the same style in the video and love it. We once forgot to pack them so we had someone go in our house and FedEx them to us. We truly do not travel without them.

I found my Tilley floating in a lake while sailing about a dozen years ago. Great hat!

I love Tilley hats! I have two ( one disappeared under suspicious circumstances). One is now my camping Tilley, the other is my 'good' hat. Best hats I've ever had!

My husband and I just ordered our Tilley airflow hats. We hope they work out as well as everyone has claimed. BTW...We absolutely LOVE your videos. Our shared love of the Tilly hat is what made me subscribe to LOLOHO. I have two, the Airflow, which you know and love. I also have for winter wear the Montana. Its from the Endurable's Collection made of wool and has dold down earflaps which also help to keep the hat on your head in windy conditions.

Tilley (that Canadian hat manufacture) supplied the US Army for the Desert Storm mission.

Bought one 2 months ago from Tilley UK and it was stamped made in Canada, so I guess they fixed that.

@@hex2redonealpha102 it seems they are currently being made in Canada AND China. I sincerely hope the stop making them in China, as a Canadian I will not buy a Chinese Tilley hat, on principle.

have been wearing these hats for many years...they are fabulous.

Discovered Tilley Hats many years ago. Daily hat is the AirFlow, but have other models based on use. Worth every penny as I have never wore one out. The wide brim one I wear for yard work is wash several times per year and is at least 20 years old, except to color of metal grommets, it still looks new.

I've had a Tilley hat for about 6-7 years....bought it when I went on a mission trip to Peru. I've really enjoyed the stylishness (is that even a word) and the practicality of the design. I've also just bought a TT (Grand Design Imagine 2600RB) and a new truck...I will be retiring at the end of the year. We will be joining the rest of you travelers on our own LLHO

We have had Tilley hats for over 20 years, and they replaced the draw string on my favorite hat quite a few years ago when I wrote to them! You are right, awesome product and company! Thanks for your videos!

Sean, I have the exact style hat and have had it for several years and also really like it. Have had to make several trips to our dermatologist to have some places treated or removed from my ears and head due to never wearing a hat in my younger days. Now I don't leave home without my Tilley.

Got my first Tilley hat from Alex Tilley himself (signed by him)- it is long gone- probably 20’years ago. I wear the same one you do and the wool winter Tilley during the winter!

You led me to buy my first and I love it. Also bought the felt one recently for winter. Brownie Points = the wife loves the look.

I agree completely with what you said about Tilley hats, I have 6, and never do anything without one of them.

Just got my first Tilley hat and it is everything you said it would be. The only problem is I already have more than enough vices and accumulations of stuff, now I'm hooked on Tilley. Oh well at least they fold flat so I can store lots of them.

I've had the same hat for 25 years. Wear in the wilderness and in the field and it it stands up. Wash it in the sink by hand or in the washing machine on delicate and it will dry overnight. Worth the extra investment.

I love Tilley hats! I've been wearing them since Y2K (You know, the yeat everything was supposed to fall apart because computers couldn't handle the new millennium?) and I have only had to replace my first one (T3) out of the eight I have owned. Tilley shipped a new one no questions asked. Nowadays, they will try and repair your old one which is cool because of sentimental value. If it can't be repaired they send you a new one. They don't ask for a receipt, either.

I love my Irish-made Hanna Hats, but will definitely check out Tilley Hats! Thanks for the tip!

I have the basic Tilley Hat, had for years. Sun is bad for me and I bought the Tilley Raffia hat. UPF 50+ it cannot be washed but it is crushable, packable, water resistant spot cleanable. Had for years . Yes they cost more but they can last a lifetime which is more than most hats. Absolutely great product. They have clothing line as well. All their lines are meant for traveling, stylish , practical. As a Canadian very proud of this company!!

Tilly Hats are amazing.. Got one last year and Its just cool.

I have one and love it especially since I am sensitive to the sun.

They also have winter hats. Also clothing with the same warranty plus if it is stolen, they will replace it. I had a hat that the outer rim was separating but by only an inch. I brought it in and they replaced it. I have owned Tilly products for well over 17 years.

I am definitely a Tilly fan. Great hat. My hat had a problem with the Brim and they replaced it for free no questions asked.

I'm on my third Tilley hat. Two of them were damaged in the washing machine. The company replaced them both no questions asked. A hat well worth the money.

Bought my first (and only, so far) Tilley Hat over twenty years ago on a suggestion/recommendation from some Brit, Canadian, and Aussies I was shooting against (as a firing member of a USA Goodwill Team) at a long range Target Rifle match in BC Canada. I bought, and still have, the wider brim version. It was the last brim type hat I ever bought. If it ever wears out, no sign of that happening in the near future, I would buy another. Nothing brimmed in my house but Tilley! The dark green underside of the brim does wonders to cut sun reflection to the eyes. Glad to see your review.

That's neat that your Tilley purchase has a special memory attached to it. My Tilleys have similar memories (err, without all the shooting :)) - the first I bought in Maine, the second in Alaska. Thanks much for your post!

Nice review Sean! I do like the look of that hat you wear.......it looks so much better than the baseball caps you usually see now days. Since my wife likes to do a lot of hiking I bought her a similar (but cheaper) hat and we've really been dissatisfied with it. So I'll definitely check out the Tilley hats!

I love my Tilley hat. I bought mine in Death Valley.

I own several Tilly hats, worth every penny.

Got one in 96 to go to D.C. Keep my head warm during the 2 weeks in august! Didn't get sunburned though. The best thing about tilley (no I don't work or get remuneration fr them) is they have great travel clothing. Shorts that are guaranteed for life and have dozen of pocket. They have stuff that u might never realized would make travel so hassle free. Yeah ok im Cdn but they still have great products. Tilley.

That's unbelievable! I was just in Acadia this past weekend and went to the same park store. I saw the Tilley hats and saw the price and decided it was too pricey. The idea stuck with me though so I did some research and watched some videos and decided to look into getting one. I had to go to 3 different stores to find the model, color, and size that I wanted. When I finally did, it was in a shop called Cool As a Moose and I pulled the trigger. I ended up with the Paddler and I couldn't be happier. I went online to look at what other people were thinking of this model and your video was the second one down. Thanks for the great video!

I just ordered my FIRST Tilley!!

Got mine! B'day gift from my wife. "Airflow" model w/4" brim and 3" high crown. Though I don't "love" things (only people), my relationship with my hat comes close. Terrific shade for the eyeballs and my neck. It would constitute a capital crime if someone attempted to make me part with it.

I was in a Salvation Army store last month looking for a cheap flannel shirt when I noticed what I thought was a fake Tilley hat on the hat shelf. I always wanted a Tilley, so I decided to take a look at it. To my delight I discover it was the real thing, my size, and in perfect condition. The best thing was the price- $2.99! When I was checking out I said "Do you realize how much this hat is worth?", and she said "Yes I do, you hit the jackpot". I certainly did.

Great score. At Value Village thrift stores, the used clothes are often more than full retail. Good luck getting a $3 Tilley hat there.

Tilley hats are one of those products that baffle most people. How they seem pricey for what you get but the owners are usually extremely happy with the purchase/ownership. Nest thermostats, Go Pro, Sundowner trailers, John Deere, Hobie kayaks, and I suppose AirStream, have similar satisfaction. I paid $90 for my Tilley and enjoy kayaking with it. I ditched the straps and instead threaded paracord around the rim in case I ever need extra rope.

Ok I ordered the hat, I have the real soft Tilley for water activities ( sitting in the pool ) but this one I'm sure I will get more use. Thanks buddy for the inspiration to break down and order it. BTW good luck with the truck looking forward to the outcome

After watching many reviews of Tilly hats, I did a lot of soul searching, and finally plopped down $90 for my Tilly LTM8 (more mesh than your model). It really is a fantastic, well made hat. It's funny that, now that I own one, I notice it when I see someone else with a Tilly and often have people comment to me, "that's a Tilly, right?"

I have the same Tilley but my does not contour front and back as yours. Did you have to do anything special?

I was wondering in your videos if it was a Tilley! I scored a T3 Original in 2001 for $25 on sale. I still have it and it's still in great shape, although I don't wear it much. I need to clean it up and reshape it... I'll probably get more use out of it when camping and such!

Back in June I bought my Tilley in Key West because you said you liked yours and since it made you look good it would make me look GREAT!!! ... (Did I say that?) ... Anyway, my Tilley is very comfy and keeps the sun and rain off and I'm not a hat wearer. I keep it around just in case... You need a good salesman that can show you how to size it. I was wearing my hats way too small. The bigger size is much more comfy. Go to a good store. The guy I went to was a hole in the wall, but sold 80 Tilley's a week. He was good. He knew his product.

How can I order the original one made in Canada?

Shaun, a hat is not referred to as a model, it's a style. None the less your styling in those cool hats.

I have had the same hat as Sean for a number of years. It is a great hat. When not on my head it usually sits on the back seat of my pickup. Unfortunately it has disappeared. I may have to contact Tilley to see if they still stand behind their guarantee. No matter what I will get a new hat, they are that good.

The loss warranty is only good for 2 years and it has a 50% deductible, plus you have to pay for shipping and provide proof of purchase. It's basically a discount on a new hat if you lose it within 2 yrs of purchase.

I have an Olive Green one and love it. When I can't find it I look at LeAn and say, "Where's Tilley" she usually has the magic answer. I'm a big hat guy must have 50+ Ball caps, lots of Cubs and Bears as well as my business and Ham Radio Callsign hats. Yeah you can take the guy from Chicago but you can't take Chicago out of him. This hat by far is the Best I've ever owned. Thinking about a Khaki one for a 2nd. I believe they are well worth the money you spend.

Tilleys are great. Have had one for 20+ years. Well worth it. And...their replacement warranty is incredible. They also have a clothing line that is super. Check them out.

I bought a tilley hat when we were in England many years ago. I lost my hat (I really believe it was stolen) and Tilley replaced it just like they said.

And now I have seen it all..... :)

I’ve had Tilley, Bailey, Stetson, Resistol & other lesser known brand hats. While Tilley makes a good hat, Stetson by far makes the best hats.

Got a hat very similar to this at West Marine but I like the Tilley design better with the hidden pocket. Excellent sun protection. No sun burnt ears as with the B-Ball hat. How's poor ol' Seemore?

A couple of days ago Seemore got a fresh belly full of synthetic oil. Plus I added some Redline fuel system cleaner. Believe it or not, truck seems to be running better today. We are towing east from LA headed towards Alabama/Florida. Seemore's gonna get a workout over the next few days. This winter I will be talking to diesel shops about an overhaul.

Today we are towing east out of California. Two days ago I had synthetic oil put in the truck, and also added a bottle of Redline fuel system cleaner. The truck actually seems to be running better today! It's still got stiction issues but it seems smoother. If it can get us back east (home is down south in Alabama) we will start talking to diesel shops this winter about an overhaul.

Have you checked the truck's battery voltage. Looking at online forums shows the powerstroke is picky about low voltages from the battery (maybe you said it?). Old batteries can really make it run poorly. My truck is now 10 years old and the original batteries are now only showing 12.46 volts. I will be replacing both this weekend and cleaning the connections.

You have admirable character.

Not as expensive as a good Stetson, but looks almost as good.

Great Canadian company. They have a complete line of clothing for adventurers as well. Designed by a man who loved to sail and couldn't find a hat that would stay on and still be comfortable. I have two of their hats as well as a pair of shorts that are guaranteed for life and a very comfortable pair of pants. Check out their website for a complete line of products.

Indiana Jones "aint got nothing" on your hat!

Tilley in my opinion has gone downhill in quality. I have had a Tilley hat for quite a few years and decided to upgrade. Tried four hats and found some were made in China and one was even sewn wrong. That’s a huge QC error and not of Tilley quality. Another looked as though it was put together with scrap materials. A third one was made of nylon, not an issue, but it felt cheap and plastic. Very disappointed in the newer hats. Especially since Tilley still charges premium prices. I am still looking for a hat but Tilley has been sidelined. At least I still have my Tilley from their better days. You can see similar reviews on Amazon where folks are questioning their quality and their decision to move some production to China. There are numerous China-made hats out there for a fraction of what Tilley charges. I hope they listen to the reviews and return to making the hats in Canada.

Honestly, I was shocked when I discovered Tilley had moved its manufacturing to China. This was a quintessentially Canadian product that always delivered a high-quality experience commensurate with the price. Frankly, I think the family sold the company and the new owners sadly care more about profit than quality.

@@LongLongHoneymoon Thanks for the reply. It prompted me to Google Tilley and I found that they were sold a few years ago to a private equity firm. Private equity firms, IMO, seldom improve anything with a company. Being primarily profit driven they tend to forget the primary success of a company depends on its customers. This profit motive aligns with the decline in quality I experienced with recent Tilley products while the premium pricing has been kept in place. Now that I know Tilley was sold and changed some production to China, I will view them as any other hat manufacturer you can find on Amazon. Which of course means that I will not be spending premium dollars on a non-premium product.

The last 3 words of this video is a bit confusing. What does "Love my ho" have to do with anything? Really cool video otherwise.

No disrespect meant. but it looks much better on Kristy !! But then again, she is much more pleasing to look at than you !!

Too much self advertising by the maker of this video. It becomes extremely annoying as it goes on and on throughout the video. This is more self advertisement rather than a product review.

$79.00 for a hat? Uh, no. Buy a $15 hat from Walmart and slide a straightened paperclip into the bill seam and spray it with water (shoe) repellent. Same purpose, same results and not supporting price gouging companies.

In the past, I think Tilly merited the extra cost. These days, however, they have moved their manufacturing from Canada to China, and I am not as confident in the new products.

I bought mine years ago, it's been all over the world. I'm in England and it has been all over the US, Canada, Philippines, Singapore and most of Europe. Mine is a heavier waxed cotton and has faded badly but that gives it some character! As I wear glasses it also keeps rain off the windows as well. I wouldn't buy online as sizes do vary, I would always try them on in a store. All in all, love it.
